My DH is insisting that he read that to combine his CIP with the CSR and CSP he would have to go into a Chase office and do that in person. This is based on stuff he's reading online. I'm telling him I doubt it but I could be wrong... Can someone please tell me how to do this?
He doesn’t have to go to the branch but I believe he has to call Chase to combine the business and personal accounts online.
ETA: I just did this a few months ago.

I'm loving all the book chatter today. Most of what I would have suggested has already been posted, but wow you have some great books to read now!

I think you have to call to combine personal and business cards

I am a PUTZ tonight, lol.

I got a Raise promo code in my email and for once there was actually Walmart gift cards available. I was so excited...I pulled together $100 in cards...and I forgot to enter the promo code. GAH - I HATE making mistakes like this, lol. So I bought $100 more in Walmart and instead of saving ~11% on $100 I saved ~6% on $200. I know I shouldn't really care, but I'll be kicking myself all night for it, haha!

walmart gift cards have flooded the market... u should get some pretty good discounts from it... i hate Freedom/Discover Q4 right now... lol

Oh I'm buying these to use, lol. I don't do Gift Card re-sale or whatever. I was just saying...hey I'll spend $100 at Walmart in the next month or two. I can get $100 for about $89...sounds like a good deal (Except when I forgot the part about saving $10 and only saved $1...LOL!)

If you have the spend available, you could apply for the BBP first, then set up your Amex online account for the BBP in the next 2-3 days while waiting for the actual BBP card to arrive; generate a referral link from your BBP account, and use that link to apply for the SPG Biz before the 100k Marriott points offer expires on 10/31. (You may have to wait 5 days between the BBP and SPG Biz applications because Amex has an inconsistent 1/5 rule — 1 approval in 5 days.) That’s a combined $6k worth of MSR in the next 90 days. If you can’t jump on the SPG Biz now, that card’s still sticking around even with all the Marriott changes, and Amex offers bounce down and up again all the time.

It's the beginning of the holiday season, and with the holidays comes costumes, tons of Halloween candy, Thanksgiving groceries, lots of presents, and of course paying for planes, trains, and automobiles to visit my big blended family. All that to say...I just applied for the Amex BBP and was approved!!! Thank you for your suggestions - they were very convincing and I'm excited to finally get into MR! Since I applied and was approved today for the BBP, will I be good to apply for the SPG biz on the 29th, or should I wait longer? I can manage the spend on both and definitely want to grab the 100k points, which would be enough to cover a few different hotels for my tentative LA/Disneyland trip, before it expires on 10/31.

:cheer2:Approval dance! :cheer2:

just keep in mind, u wont get any MR points until after your 2nd statement closes... (just to double check, first MR card correct?)
i think amex is 2/90? you should be good for another card.

Yeah, I think you should be good to go for the SPG Biz application on the 29th. Amex’s 1/5 rule is inconsistent because Amex doesn’t always do a hard pull when you apply if you’re already an Amex cardmember who they’ve done a recent inquiry on. If Amex doesn’t do a hard pull on an application, your next application isn’t affected by 1/5. But since this is your first Amex application, I’m almost certain Amex did a hard pull. (Amex has a separate rule that @Albort mentioned above, 2/90, which limits you to two credit card approvals -- not charge cards -- within a 90-day period.)

You should be getting an email about setting up your Amex online account for the BBP. If you get an error, just try again later. Once you get your account set up, you should be able to generate a referral link for yourself to apply to just about any Amex card, including the SPG Biz on the 29th.

Since you’re planning to use the Marriott points at Disneyland, there are a number of Marriott properties within a 15 minute walk of the Disneyland Resort that are only 35k Marriott points/night. In a little over a year, you'll also have a free night certificate for a 35k/night hotel.

Good luck!

I just want to make sure we're not talking about two different things.

Does DH want to combine his CIP with the CSR and CSP onto one online account for ease of payment or management?* If so, he's looking to combine a business online account and a personal online account, and he'll need to call Chase to do this. I've kept my accounts separate and it's just slightly more inconvenient. But I really don't want Chase's eyes on my accounts, and there was chatter about cards on merged cards having issues with Chase Pay (unsure if those issues have been fixed).

*Note that recently Chase stopped letting you add a Chase personal bank account as the payment account to pay an Ink card. You'll either have to write a check, call in your payment, or push a bill payment from the account you want to pay with.

Or does DH just want to combine the UR points on his CIP, CSP, and CSR onto one card (the CSR)? If so, he can do this himself. Here's a guide: https://milestomemories.boardingare...guide-how-to-combine-points-between-accounts/

In neither case, DH does not have to actually go into a Chase branch.

On the go but saw this DP on Reddit of someone CFPBing after not getting their points after being told they’d get the Amex points on the phone despite getting the pop up & they got their points a month later. https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9qymxd/comment/e8dzjx8

I can’t remember who here this relates to but I KNOW we had someone who was told on the phone they’d get the points who later didn’t. Please tag them to this DP DIS peeps if you remember who it was!

Yes, first MR card! I'm not in any rush for the MR points, but wanted to start now to diversify my "portfolio" while I wait patiently for my next Chase app (12/26, SW Priority Inflight 50k. 63 days, but who's counting?)

thats good thats good... im also been diversifying my points as well. Im lacking MRs and TYP right now. got plenty of UR and Marriott points.
Still trying to deciding my card line on amex though... it looks like BBP, Amex Plat Ameriprise and Rose Gold card are the 3 keeper cards...

Yes, what @Lain said. No problems combining points from different cards. Need to call to combine online accounts. Our accounts are separate, 2 different logins. I can transfer points from DHs CSR, CFU and CIP, as well as my CF.

I see your point about not wanting Chase’s eyes on your accounts. Would you recommend trying to separate them? I currently have my original personal card login and my newer business login that has my personal accounts added to it.

So are pre-existing accounts grandfathered? Just checked DHs CIP, and our Chase checking and CapOne savings are still linked.
