I love credit cards so much!

FYI on Chase AU bonuses (New CSP applicants especially)...

I know the application page for CSP doesn't show the AU bonus any more. That said, I still think it's worth trying because 5,000 URs for nothing is awesome.

My application page DID show the AU bonus so I can't specifically comment on that. I earned my 5k AU bonus by adding my wife to her own card without her middle initial.

Example:
Cardholder Name: Sally B Smith
Authorized User: Sally Smith
(same birthdate)

It worked - I got my 5k points! @have2getaway, @babyready, @georgina, @Missyson, @danjoealexis3006, - I recall that you all recently applied for CSP cards. IF you didn't yet attempt to earn the 5,000 AU bonus I'd do what I describe above and put one purchase on the new card and see if you get the points :) (You technically could even put the purchase on your existing card but why not follow it to the letter of the law, lol).

I don't "Like" this but just showing support. That's a very frustrating change! When our bank got acquired a couple years ago my position had a maximum of 35 PTO days and I think that's now down to 25. I didn't actually feel the pain of losing days as I only had 21 at the time and got cut back to 20 so no big deal (and ultimately got up to 25 now). At any rate, sorry about the crumby change!
A few years ago, I broke my knee and was out of work for 6 weeks. I wasn’t allowed to return until I could walk without crutches (I did use a wheelchair a little). I was paid 100% of my salary using sick bank hours though they did make you use 2 PTO days for every occurrence before using the sick time. Next year, if the same happened, I would get 50% of my pay and have far more medical bills as insurance now has a 4K deductible. Good thing I work for a religion based hospital because I will be praying no one in my family ever gets sick.

I’ll probably get shunned for this but I tried watching Jack Ryan and thought it was super boring. I got through the first episode and part of the second but I just couldn’t do it. I guess it’s back to supernatural and riverdale starts tomorrow!!!

Just to clarify - when you say “erase” you mean at 1cpp correct? Just want to make sure I didn’t miss some better use of points, lol!
Yes statement credit at 1 cpp. It’s actually pretty typical for the cash back/travel credit type cards. We’ve just gotten spoiled and expect more. If you look at it like 1 cpp is normal and everything else is an extra bonus maybe you won’t feel like that is a poor redemption.

You’re losing already accrued 400 hours worth of sicktime at 100% pay?! I foresee a nasty sickness in your future. How’s mono sound? Or for the love of fairness at least get a week of the flu. And then a week long relapse!
Sadly, everyone is losing. At least one of my coworkers has almost 900hours. We’d all be out sick the rest of the year. Current company sold us out. Bas#*rds.

Also one more question tonight if that's ok. If I buy two $100 GCs from AA online (for the AMEX airline fees thing), do I need to do it on two different days? Or just two different purchases around the same time?

The safe, conventional wisdom has been two $100 AA GC transactions. They can be on the same day, just different transactions; does not have to be on different days.

However, I have been seeing more and more DPs on r/churning recently of one $200 AA GC transaction triggering the airline credit successfully. Unfortunately, I don’t have those DPs handy at the moment. Again, there are literally hundreds of successful 2x $100 AA GCs DPs, while 1x $200 AA GC DPs are more scattered and may or may not credit properly.

As always, check the latest DPs on FlyerTalk: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ame...200-100-reimbursement-reports-aa-only-59.html

P.S. The suggestion for 2x $100 AA GCs in separate transactions assumes the Platinum’s $200 airline credit. The Amex Gold has a $100 airline credit that works the same way, but you’d just select AA as your airline, then buy 1x $100 AA GC in a single transaction to max out the credit.

Oh yes - I understand what you meant now. In my mind, 1cpp on URs will always be a poor redemption (even if I concede to doing it). I also wouldn't necessarily call expecting more than 1cpp from URs "spoiled". Chase Sapphire Preferred has offered a 1.25x travel portal redemption since 2010 or 2011. CSR obviously came around in 2016 making URs worth a minimum of 1.50cpp. CSP offered transfers to airline partners since inception where you could expect to get close to 2cpp in value (and this has not changed with the addition of CSR). Way back in January of 2012, CSP added Southwest as a UR transfer partner when SW RR points were worth > 1.7cpp which clearly established that as the minimum amount URs were worth to many people. This addition of SW probably didn't occur until 2012 because prior to 2011 Southwest was still utilizing RR 1.0. At any rate, I respect your opinion, but I personally don't think it's spoiled to fully expect a minimum of 1.50cpp out of URs. It's the value the program was built upon! For what it's worth, I'm just not going to concede that 1cpp is normal...these are Ultimate Rewards not Normal Rewards HAHA! :rotfl:

I'm probably not going to look at this as an "eraser" system. If I want $2k or $4k in cash I'll just take it and stick it in the bank, lol. My personal balance sheet and income statement can be used to match that cash inflow to offset whichever expense I choose to assign it to. :)

@mmmears - here are some recent DPs of a single $200 AA GC crediting: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9jbwdu/comment/e6qk1sd?st=JN2NL9A7&sh=0b780596

Thank you. I just did it for my Platinum (2 $100 transactions). We were going to wait a day or two to make sure it worked before doing it on DH's Gold card. And then there's some of the $200 from his Platinum card this year left over (maybe $85 or so...) so we were planning to try to get too. I really appreciate your help!

Along with my $200 ATT Amex offer credit, I am also not so patiently waiting for the $250 airline credit on my Amex Aspire to post. I spent it in one transaction on SW on the 4th and no credit yet. When I did my dh's, I did a $100 and $150 and they both credited after a couple of days.:badpc:

I don’t know why...but whenever I’m waiting for one of those credits I always freak out and assume something went wrong...and yet eventually they always post. My mind just goes to dark places while waiting a few days LOL!

My UR sign up bonus points posted this morning. I transferred them from the CSP over to the CSR and made my first reservation!! One night at Universal's Royal Pacific for 2 adults and 3 children. We are actually staying at our timeshare for the week but it's cheaper to rent a room at RP for the free Express Pass. I have a little anxiety about actually spending the points on something we don't technically need for vacation but I'm sure we'll appreciate the passes.
