I love credit cards so much!

I feel like I should know this, Freedom 5x is good at Costco.com right? About to max that out with an online only purchase. This is the quarter I need multiple Freedom cards.

My Chase Pay via Samsung Pay is working flawlessly everywhere.

If you don’t want to take on the $5,000 CIP spend right now...I’d apply for the CIC...timing could be tight if your not auto approved...since you need it by the 20th....We did my husbands CIC application on 9/14...he was approved...9/21.....received card 9/28

Thanks. I applied for CIC and of course didn't get auto approval. I'll be calling the automated line a bunch I'm sure. And if it doesn't get approved to come in time before we leave on Oct 20, I can always pay the first month of our car insurance and hold the balance to pay once I have the new card. I just like to pay it all at once to avoid extra fees.

I think waiting on the CIP makes more sense at this time for us and I just have to cross my fingers no one ink rules pop up before it's time.

Thank you! The property is https://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/hilton-new-york-jfk-airport-NYCJFHF/index.html and the night would be May 11th (just one night). I really appreciate this! It's so weird that they won't just let us know when we ask.

I'm seeing 50,000 Hilton Points for either a King Room or 2 Queen Room for 1 night - May 11th, 2019. Depending on which rate you compare it to, it is 0.5cpp-0.6cpp on the Hilton points. Looks like you'd have to transfer 20,000 MRs to get to 50k (If I'm looking at this correctly) and that's a pretty good value IMO.

I personally don't have 50k Hilton points to confirm they'd actually let me book this rate though. When I go to book it says "rate no longer available" but I think that's just because I have very little Hilton points.

Does anybody here have 50,000+ Hilton points and can you confirm for @mmmears that the night of May 11th is available for 50,000 points at this property: https://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/hilton-new-york-jfk-airport-NYCJFHF/index.html

I'd prefer we get an actual confirmation that somebody can get to the booking screen before I recommend you make this transfer.

theres rumors of Citi wanting to back out of the premium card game and focusing on $0 AF cards and/or $100 AF cards.
my guess is that with costco probably earning them a huge profit, they probably dont care to compete. haha.

Idk on the Costco profits, rumor is they drove a brutally hard bargain when they split from Amex...

I recall seeing an article and ensuing discussion on reddit months ago that Citi may be looking to get out of the credit card rewards game. That war's being fought primarily between Chase and Amex, which are trying to attract the same high spending clientele and thus swipe fees. I think the sentiment from reddit was that Citi is different in that it tends to rely more heavily on revenue from interest. Citi is not making much, if anything, on their Costco portfolio. Costco drove a really hard bargain with Visa as their exclusive payments processor, and Visa is supposedly barely making anything in swipe fees and just brought Citi into the deal to try to grow their relationship with Citi.

I’ve never been auto approved for a business card..weird since I always am for personal cards.....also hope nothing changes for the business cards since I have the CIP...and want the CIC too....
Fingers crossed your approved soon...

Real winner from that race to the bottom for Costco: Chase & 5% back at wholesale clubs. Freaking genius!

I don’t have a CF but I have seen DPs from people that Costco.com is not posting as 5% and they had to SM for the 5% bonus. I’d research that more if you have time.

yes, Citibank Thank you Points. The Prestige is no longer able to sign up for, theres been a rumor that premier is going down to 0 sign up bonus... seems like its following the Prestige...

@GlamMistress update says Citi says Premier & TYP live for now, this bonus dies 10/11. (Whether it stays dead is anyone’s guess?)

I did this one & having some TYP was quite handy when all of the sudden I needed an Etihad flight for next summer. But the rest I’ll prob redeem at 1.25 rate for travel through the portal tbh. For anyone interested a little recap on the Premier 60k:

-the 60k points after $3k post a few days after the statement closes that you earned them in
-You can redeem them at 1.25 for travel through their (Connexions run) portal (Disney still be available for booking) or transfer to their partners
-AF waived first year
-can’t get another TY bonus until 24 months after you close the card (can’t get this bonus if you’ve opened or closed a TY card in the last 24 months)
-this is a personal card and will count against 5/24 status

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if AT&T was totaling so I just did the $200 at one time. Did you get the email that you had redeemed the offer? My email came the same the day as when the charge went pending.
Uh-oh, no email for me.:(

For the West Coasters: We are thinking about driving the Pacific Coast next June, is it better to start in Seattle and go south or better to start in CA and go north to Seattle? And just to do stops along the way. Trying to decide on San Francisco or Los Angeles as start or stop. Definitely want to take DS to visit Stanford since there is currently where he wants to go to college (he is currently a 7th grader so we have time :) ) We found be flying and renting a car since we are on the East Coast. Thinking 7-10 days. Any thoughts?

I would go south, just because that makes it easier to pull over on the ocean side of the highway. And you're going to want to pull over a lot!::yes::

So far it appears to be showing up only on CSP portal, which has updated to the new website for me. It's not showing up on either of my CIPs, and someone reported yesterday it's not working on the CSR website. I would call into Chase and try, but it's unlikely to work. I would definitely ask them to report that it's not working so that maybe we can get this back in the game for the future. I was super unhappy with my agent. I asked him what actions Chase was going to take if I would be unable to book these tickets with my URs for a 1.25 redemption. He responded "I don't understand your question." Really, because it's not that hard to get. How are you going to make this right if I end up having to pay cash for something I should be able to book on your website, since you have it advertised there.
Yeah, the front line obviously aren’t Travel Agents. Anything you can’t do on the portal, they literally can’t do. (Even booking SW flights you can’t book on the portal is handeled by the airfare department so the front line still can’t help you.)

I would not do biz green. The 1 purchase is tempting but if you don’t keep spending on it you could get that Amex popup in the future that you aren’t eligible (since you’re a “bad customer”)....
DPs on DoC about a few people whose popup went away with no more spend on their Amex cards. Here’s the first one & I spotted a couple others in the comments https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amex-rat-intensifies-signup-bonus-pop-up-denials/#comment-654161

:offtopic: If you know of a job opening because the person left the role but it hasn't been posted do you apply or wait for it to get posted? I don't think it was posted last time, it was filled internally. Also of note, the exec director/pres over the org is interim and there's no actual HR so I would send to the interim person.

The job is also located in another state so I would be trying to work remotely, which there are other people doing in other roles. I have a relationship with the org since I currently volunteer in a role that reports to the person under the one I want to potentially apply for. Other hurdle is not knowing the actual job description just the title and the bit I've worked with the people previously in the position. It's also a job I would apply for regardless of whether I currently had a job or not.
Full disclosure: I have no corporate/big business experience. That said, I would reach out now. You’ve kinda got a heads up with them having worked with them already for one thing. For another thing if you know the spot is open/opening and want it others in the same boat as you probably know and are probably already making their plays.

Thank you! I've been all over DOC and searching /churning with no luck, totally forgot flyertalk. Now I see DPs. Looks they were able to sm and get the points. I'm making the purchase, just trying to decide which card and I think the Freedom 5x would be best as I need the URs. Both CIP and CSR would be 1x so I think I just go for it on Freedom.
