I love credit cards so much!

This is also part of the reason I've hesitated lol. If just a few of these don't credit it would erode some savings. Sorry about your HD one - bummer!!

I’ve just used them for purchases We would of normally made...CVS...prescriptions, HD...grill parts...Kohls ...clothing and Staples...office supplies ...this one never went pending...when I did the online chat...she said they could see it linketo save the receipt and contact them if it didn’t post after 10/4. I will probably do Kohls..CVS and Macy’s again..for items we need....

If you have a Dis Visa check this link for spring pricing. I saw some awesome rates! AKL pool view bunk beds $271/nt, YC GV $289/nt, GF main building CL in the $600s, and I ended up with CSR for $158 or something. I decided to go cheap since we will have quite a few trips between Dec and Aug while DD does the DCP.

Wow, the CSR is way higher now, just checked. Good for you!

I have been really trying to come up with our travel goals so I could ask all of you the best way to maximize points and which cards to open next. I feel like I'm flailing about without a solid goal in mine. Apparently, for my family at this time, we can't figure things out that precisely. So I'm going with the following:

I think we are good for flights (lots of MRs but still like to earn a bit more).

The issue at this point is hotels. Paying for them. I like really, really nice ones. We are spending down all of our Hyatt and SPG points on our upcoming trip in May (we don't have many to begin with). I really like Hyatts in general, but they don't always have a hotel where we want to go.

Are URs best for this (since we don't have a specific hotel/room category/date in mind)?
Are MRs a decent way to book a hotel? I've never tried it.
Or should I be looking at a co-branded Hyatt card, a Hilton card, SPG?

Any advice would be appreciated. I understand that diversity is good, but I also don't want to open too many separate points banks and not have them each have enough points to actually book a vacation (if that makes sense).

DH is at 4/24 right now (after the Chase DD in July). It should drop to 3/24 in March.

I booked the last week in March at 6 am the day they released. Our nonstop flights were 12-14k each way. I check every couple days and they have only gone up. 25-35k each way now. I’ll keep watching but not confident they will go down
We went the first week of March this year. Originally we wanted to fly JetBlue but the prices were ridiculous. SW was high but palatable. The SW fares ended up coming down nearly $100 per ticket, and we just used those credits for a quick last minute trip to WDW. So, keep checking!

I think URs can be good for hotels as long as you don't have status and don't want status for the chain. Because I know the nights don't count and you get no hotel points for the stay. I am unsure if you have status if that will do anything. I don't think so, but I am not sure. I think we will only use URs for hotels now if we don't care about getting the credit for it. Hyatts at least are generally better if you transfer your UR points to them, so the stays will still count for that.

I'm going to jump in with the Chase bank bonus. I've read a bit about it and believe it's a soft pull. If my DW and I both open accounts, will that affect/delay us in our quest for one of the Sapphire cards at least 60 days from the last time we opened another Chase CC(30 days left of that 60)?

Ok have cut and pasted this to my archives, but have a couple questions:) . Would the BA 40% and the Plat Biz be stackable? Will there be other transfer (like United) discounts this fall? Also, I am so confused about the SPG I got during the 35K bonus offer. At the time I thought it was a very good deal, but it seems like the market crashed or there was a crazy correction... Are my 42K SPG points worth the equivalent of 14K MR's or 126K? Lastly, I know I have this info saved but can't find it, and not heading over to Reddit this week, is Chase Marriott 5/24 or no? Thanks!!

When you log into your SPG account you'll see the conversion. They multiplied every Starpoint by 3 to match Marriott so you should have at least 126k. The transfer to airlines is about the same. Under SPG every 20k Starpoints transferred to an airline got you a 5k bonus, so 25k airline miles. Under the new program every 60k transferred gets you the same bonus for 25k airline miles in the end (for all but a handful of partners). In terms of airline transfers it's the same valuation, just larger amounts of points going through it.

Can't speak to 5/24, I don't recall if we ever got definitive data points that the new cards were or weren't subject to it. The old personal card was but the business card wasn't. Both got a revamp, personal with the new Premier Plus card (old card was discontinued), business with a update to Biz Premier Plus (all old cards were converted to the new one). So in the beginning I think the assumption was they'd be subject to it but don't know what the final outcome was.

That said, they instituted new rules for getting the SPG/Marriott cards and if you have or had one you may be ineligible for the card/bonus on another. If you haven't seen the new rules yet, this is a pretty good chart read through: https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2018/07/30/navigating-marriotts-byzantine-credit-card-rules/

Can someone explain a couple things to me regarding PayPal and RMN? I attempted my first RMN offer today, and realized that the PayPal account email is supposed to match the RMN email address (which mine doesn't - I even asked on the gift cards thread hoping it wasn't the case but of course it is lol). Would there be any harm in just opening a new PayPal account for the cash back? Will I be able to link any accounts to a new PayPal if they're already linked to my original PayPal account?

hehe, get to know a cast member well... they get 50%... :]

Ha ha ha, I know. Funny you mention that. I have attended one Disney Fairy Tale wedding and it was because I was performing the ceremony for 2 very good friends who happen to be cast members. We have cruised with them, did Dapper Day’s in DLR with them and always hang out when we go up to WDW. I know they get amazing discounts! #retirementgoals

Just go into your Paypal account and add the email address that you set up for RMN. You can have multiple emails per Paypal.

Yeah - I'm not sold on RMN - just not something I'm gonna devote time to right now. No judgment on those that love it though. I just like the idea of hitting the grocery store, buy $1,600 in Disney GCs, Save $192 on Gas (+ whatever I'm earning on the signup bonus on that card) and be done for a couple months, lol.

AMEX Offers I'll look at but I'm trying to layer MSR returns of 15%+ on top of Fuel savings of 12% so AMEX offers on old AMEX cards does me little good there.
I have to say RMN won’t get me $4k in GCs but I’ll take a few hundred $ worth at 40% off. Most of the rest of mine are 14-20% off, using stacked discounts. I have a first year Discover Card, so 10% on the quarterly categories which I can use for Walmart GCs or directly at Sam’s.

Would it be tacky to give a Visa gift card as a wedding gift instead of cash? And to make it worth my while, I guess it would need to be 2 since at Kroger I can only buy up to $100 to get the fuel perks.
IMHO, not at all!
Agree with Oscar! I see nothing tacky about giving the Visa GC as a wedding gift.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with this thread. And my question relates to old news....

How long did it take for your SPG Luxe to arrive?
Still haven’t gotten mine. 2 weeks after I upgraded, I got a snail mail letter stating that demand exceeded supply and it would be awhile before I got my card.

If chase has given her the maximum amount of credit, couldnt @Natgridenergy call recon and shift credit over from her CIP?

Depends if @Natgridenergy has a business or a “business,” and how comfortable he is about getting grilled on recon if it’s the latter. I have not seen very many positive DPs of getting Chase to reallocate credit among their business cards to open a new business card. And because one of the reasons for denial includes insufficient business revenue, I’d expect recon to ask about that. If @Natgridenergy‘s application is for just a “business” and he’s not comfortable getting grilled about it for a less than likely chance at approval upon recon, the easiest thing to do is drop his CLs and reapply after 30 days and his credit reports have been updated with the changes.

You can go into your current PayPal account and add the email address you used for RMN. This process only matters after RMN has paid you the $10 or whatever the offer amount is since you want to move funds.

Can I open up an Spg or Spg biz if I opened a Marriott Premiere Plus before August 26th.

ETA: and get the sign up bonus?

Reduce your overall credit lines with Chase, then try again when your credit reports are updated.

I try to get our individual, total Chase CLs in the 30% of household income range reflected on our credit reports at least a month before applying for a new Chase card.

My wife's business has only $1.5k revenue. She's been approved for the CIP and CIU. She's never been denied for having insufficient business revenue. It seems the two denial reasons are related. Chase has already extended the maximum amount of credit relative to your business revenue. To some extent, the maximum amount of credit that Chase will offer you is also tied to your personal (or household) income; however, if your total CLs with Chase are around or over 50% of reported income, Chase is not going to give you more credit based on your personal income.
Can I use SM to reduce CL on my Disney Visa, which I now hardly use?
