I love credit cards so much!

I went for it and was auto-denied. Called recon and they mentioned my 4 new accounts in the last 6 months were too many, and there wasn't anything they could do to overturn it. Oh well. I don't think August is too close as a qualifier, but if you have a few new personal cards in the last 6 months it's probably not worth the trouble.

I'm actually not sure where they got 4 for me, cause I have 7 in the last 6 months, heh... guess I should see what's not reporting yet.

If they just count personal cards I’ve only opened the CSR in the last 6 months....with my CIP...it’s 1 business and 1 personal
Just started with Chase URs in May and was going to wait until I was done getting their cards before looking elsewhere ..but the $1,000 MSR for this card makes it attractive

Does he know where he i going tomorrow or is it a surprise?
He knows we are going to WDW but doesn't know we are staying at YC (which is where he requested but I told him it was too expensive :)) We got him good on our 1st DCL when he was 5. He was actually on the cruise ship, using the water slides and thought we were just taking a "tour" for a future cruise. Then he was concerned about our luggage once he knew since we had left it at the Hyatt for pick-up. So much fun!!!

Although DH is about to drive me crazy since he just took all of my stuff out of my Disney backpack and put it in an ugly Nike backpack! I did not ask for his assistance!

There used to be an unadvertised no-fee AAviator - you have to call in to downgrade to it. It is sometimes offered as a retention method when you call to cancel.

I am not sure how sensitive Barclays is to closed accounts, but if you were thinking of applying for the Biz card imminently, I would think better to do so before you cancel the personal.

That's interesting about the "secret" no-fee card. I'd really like a no-fee AA card as a way to earn a few AA points every now and then to keep my points form expiring.

I agree that it seems like it would be a good idea to apply for the new card before cancelling the old card, but sometimes these credit card company rules defy logic.

If you want to apply for the Biz card, put some spend on the personal one in the next few days. Barclays likes to see usage with current cards.

There is also a no-fee AA card. Generally, the recommend course of action is AF posts, call to downgrade, leave open for ~6 months, close, then churn the card in another 6 months. The Biz AA card is independent of this, and you can still do that.

No one knows exactly how many Barclays cards you can have at once.

Thanks for the info. I did put a very small amount of spend on the card in August (super-small -- like a few Starbucks stops) for the AA points. I'll make a few more purchases with it this weekend.

I currently have 2 Barclays cards, the Aviator and a no-fee something or other I got when I downgraded the Arrival plus in April. I actually also have a decent amount of spending on that card too, because of a bonus for spending $1000 offer.

Can never say for sure with USB, but you should be fine to go for it. Be sure to report what happens if you do!

As long as it's recent spend - that's the important part. If it was all April/May it might not help.

**Amex Offer** It must of just loaded as I didn't have it an hour ago. I'm sure almost everyone can use this.

I don't have that one but maybe it will show up!

I did have this one for cruises though, but won't be using it.

Get a one-time $150 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend $750+ on cruise line sailings with Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Seabourn, or Cunard by 10/15/2018. See wlcl.com/amex. Terms and exclusions apply.

Best source on bank bonuses is Doc of Credit, https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-bank-account-bonuses/, for each bonus there is extensive write up on what counts as DD, and terms of offer to keep fee free. Most of the fees can be avoided if you keep a minimum amount in the account. I typically only do bank bonuses that I don't need a DD or can trigger the DD another way given the pain it is to change my DD with my employer.
Thank you!!!

Is there any way to tell the exact amount left to meet the maximum on the Chase Freedom bonus categories? I can see the green line and it's probably around 75 percent, but I'd love to know exactly how much more I need to spend to max it out.

Would have been nice for us with a Disney Cruise coming up in March..but they are not listed.:badpc:

s your husband also over 5/24 ? If he isn’t you could open Chase cards in his name.
I'm not sure, I'll have to ask him to look at his credit report but I think so. One mistake we made was doing AU on each other's cards for the Chase cards and AMEX. But, he's looking at the AMEX platinum next.

I like hotels .com for booking hotels that aren't part of one of the big chains. You get 1 free night after 10 nights. Book thru a portal offering the highest cash back for hotels .com. (Go to cashbackmonitor to see what portal gives you the most back) Use a hotels .com gift card purchased at one of the category bonus stores to pay for your booking. For example, look at Walgreens for them and use your CF to buy it at 5xUR til end of September. Maybe the Q4 bonus categories will include a store that you can use the 5xUR CF to buy a gc.

Your free night is an average of what you paid for those 10 nights. And I don't know what happens if you book 10+ nights for one stay up front, i.e. I don't know if you get the free night applied to that stay or if you have to wait for a future stay.

Or, as you say, open up a new credit card! :)

I forgot about hotels.com. I hope next quarter CF 5% is one I can max with gift cards for this.

Groupon

edit: also stack with groupon GCs+portal. should save u a load of money.
Groupon, will have to check. I'm looking at the Williamsburg GWL in particular. Yes, GCs is probably how I can maximize this I'm seeing now, either through Groupon or with the CF category if it comes up where I can work it in the next quarter.

I always did the AU thing before finding this thread...live and learn....was going to suggest him going for 2 SW cards...a personal and business at the Begining of next year so you can get the Companion Pass for 2019 and 2020

Will definitely report back..just trying to make sure applying for this US Bank business card wouldn’t have any negative impact on my long term plan opening Chase Cards

If you are going over the holiday, there may not be a Groupon offering since they typically use that for slower times. We just got back last week for the Williamsburg GWL and had a nice time. My DS sends most of his time playing Magiquest rather than in the waterpark. I always book the breakfast vouchers in advance since it is much cheaper than the day of. I know DS wants the bacon for the bacon. The only other onsite option is Dunkin Donuts. Have a terrific time!

Oh, and DH was seeing GWL for a ridiculously low price 2 days before we left. So if we go this late again next summer, I may try to do a last minute booking instead.

United card -- Congratulations again! As @calypso726 already noted, the Explorer card will get you increased award availability. But so will the no fee United MileagePlus [rewards] credit card. The Explorer has $0 AF first year, then $95 AF afterwards. When the AF hits in the second year, call Chase to PC it to the no fee MileagePlus card. I PCed my legacy MileagePlus Select card to the no fee card, and still see increased award availability and get the +25% cardmember bonus on MPX.

Is there anything similar to increased award availability with AA that I don't know about? I have Citi AA biz and Barclays AA biz.
