I love credit cards so much!

I got the RMN credit to offer for Sam's online offer. I paid with $125 WM GC's and $17.98 on a CC.

ETA: my aunt paid 100% with GC's, I think, and got no RMN credit

That’s awesome! I really need to get on board this RMN and see how to use it and how it works. Off to go find a primer on how to maximize RMN.

Yeah - I follow South Fayette, Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I pretty much watch any and every NFL game that's on...so we're coming into an exciting time of year for us!

We actually plan our fall trip around High School football playoffs and our Jan/Feb trip is always in between the Conf Champ and Super Bowl for the NFL.

Of course...I have a spreadsheet tracking all things high school football so a few random nerdy stats:
  • I've currently attended 28 straight SF games
  • I've gone to 71 of the past 72 games (and 86 of the past 88).
  • Dating back to 2009 I've attended 113 games vs. just 6 missed games (One I was VERY sick and it was on TV; One was my sister's college graduation; One was my grandmother's funeral; One due to terrible weather; One was in an unsafe area too far away; and one time we let a trip to Universal get in the way of a game we knew we'd win by 60+ points).
  • I kind of kick myself over that Florida trip - like we could've flew in Saturday and then I'd be on a 72 game streak...oh well, LOL!
  • Yes...if you've read this far, I literally have a spreadsheet tracking the 6 games I missed and the reason why...
So now you know everything there is to know about me...I love Credit Cards, I love Disney, I love High School Football. That's really me in a nutshell :)

:rotfl:You crack me up!! I cannot believe you have a spreadsheet on your football attendance, or maybe I do believe it really :) I love football. I mostly follow NFL and I watch every game I can. Yes, cannot wait for football season to begin!!! I used to play fantasy football, and before kiddos, I worked in an office where we had a football pool. I won every season and beat all the guys :D But I will watch any and all football put before me. I love high school and college for the bands (and the ravens and redskins). I think that is such a fun addition to the game, and really missed in the NFL.

ETA: I am actually a Steelers fan. Goes back to my teen years in Dallas. Since they were rivals, I developed a distaste for most of Dallas' rivals but something about the Steelers made me like them. Been a fan ever since. Unless they play my Broncos or Dallas, I root for them.

@wendow and @SouthFayetteFan - No hablo sports :confused3but I can appreciate the enthusiasm. I love that you actually have a spreadsheet for this. It’s so you :goodvibes

Unfortunately the cert isn’t good there, that’s “Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel” it’s their version of Grand Floridian apparently. Thinking of tacking on a couple days at the end of my trip.

I was a lucky one with Cat 6 cert :duck: Looking at the JW Marriott HK for that.

We thought staying at the HKDL hotel was a good move. It was really nice to just walk over to the park. Depending on how flights go for the Japan ABD next year we may stay there again. If we fly Cathay Pacific, we will likely stop for a day/night at HKDL for a Mystic Manor fix. Totally fell in love with Albert, the monkey.

well just ordered the mastercards from staples through the ink portal. once it posts will let you know if it credited. it says it doesn't credit for gift cards so we will see. be nice if it does since its 4x/$1.

DP on SPG lux card. It did not arrive yesterday for either of us  We were seriously hoping it would since we might be able to use the statement credit this weekend and get started on the MSR. DH was able to get his new cc information and hopefully the hotel would allow us to use it. We are at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota for a wedding. We got lucky and the hotel allowed DH to just give them the cc information to use for the charges. I am hoping that we did get a statement credit. The T&C states participating SPG and Marriott properties but doesn’t give you a list of any that are specifically included or excluded so I’m not sure how that may go. Either way, it goes towards the MSR. The property is lovely but we’ve got red tide in full force here so I’m not going anywhere near the water.

What time did you apply? Daughter and myself both got them yesterday morning by UPS. We applied around 7:30am. Ours were not a requested expedite - they had said 3-5 days. Plus, daughter had to chase hers across the yard and mine was sitting on my porch chair.

RoomiPay, which is a service that takes credit cards to send payments your landlord and uh... sometimes "landlord," is coding as travel for 3x UR on cards like the CSR and CIP: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/99whae/daily_discussion_thread_august_24_2018/e4r5svn

Unlike Plastiq, RoomiPay's service is supposedly limited to the payment of rent, charges a 2.9% fee for using credit cards, does not send checks -- ACH payments only -- so requires you to obtain the ACH information of your "landlord." Apparently, RoomiPay is now set up as "a company that books accommodation" in order to code transactions as "Travel Agencies and Tour Operators" for that sweet 3x UR.

I cannot recommend RoomiPay the same way I recommended Plastiq. RoomiPay has been sketchy as heck from the start. When they first started payments processing, they did offer checks but the checks were all handwritten. But people used their service because each month, they'd offer limited amounts of no fee payments. Although RoomiPay's services are supposed to be limited to rent payments, there's a lot of blatant MSing through their service, with people sending payments to their spouse or relatives, claiming them as landlords. I'm not sure what's the current status of RoomiPay verifying any of the payments they're processing.

Edit: fixed link
I used Roomipay once to pay my "roomate". I was quick enough to get the 0% fee link. No big issue with it other than no tracking and payment took a day or two longer than expected, but decided it wasn't worth the work it took to get the timing for the no fee payment. That and the website, or rather form, left a bit to be desired. I build websites, it just didn't feel complete. It's been awhile.

The insurance saga continues... I wake up to a $350 charge from Enterprise this morning. "All we have on your account is that your rental was only approved until Aug 10." Even though I was told by the insurance company that as soon as my supplemental was approved they would extend the rental period. It was approved Aug 22, so why am I being charged? Why have they heard nothing from my insurance?

One thing I never really see talked about. To clarify, what cards can you transfer UR's to partners. Only CSR, CIP and CSP? That may change my pc to a CSP so I can still transfer to Hyatt.
Correct - you need a CSR, CSP, or CIP to transfer to partners. And IF your plan is solely to transfer to partners (not use the UR portal) then they all offer equal value.

Dang really!? I looked for the 50k plus offer on my flight earlier this month and only saw premier. Where do you find plus?
Somewhere at the bottom or in fine print I think it says “looking for another card” or something like that. Depending on what order they are using it may not always be there though (so you may not have missed it).

I think @Albort got in on one/some of the no/low fee payments too. For payments to my "landlord" or "roommate," it might be worth the risk (worst case, you have your issuer do a chargeback?), but no way would I trust any of my legitimate payments to Roomipay.

Thanks! I wouldn't have a need for the portal until I can reapply for CSR in Feb 2020. The plan is Japan that year but after the summer games so probably in the fall. And even then I may not use the portal. I had hoped to PC to a CF to take advantage of the rotating categories but I still want to be able to transfer to Hyatt to combine with my free night so I'll PC to a CSP. That AF is easier than the CSR.

My app was about 8:30 am. I didn’t get instant approval though. I applied from a mobile device while teaching a class and it went to pending. I called after class around 11:30 am or so to see why it was pending. They just wanted to verify some information and make sure it was me. DH applied around noon and got instant approval. Got a notice from Amex that our cards shipped, so we should have them by Monday I suppose.

Fyi to anyone waiting on Marriott points from SPG cards that closed earlier this month, the Marriott points I was waiting on from my SPG Biz finally posted with a date of 8/24.

What was the closing date of your SPG Biz? My SPG Biz closed on 8/19. No points yet.

However, I didn't realize we had to manually link our Marriott/SPG accounts after the merger to convert SPG points to Marriott. I just did that today. I wonder if that could be causing a delay somehow.

They were sent from Plantation, Florida and made it to Maryland and to both our houses in about 28 hours. Just down the street from the Miami area......

I wonder if she can cancel it real quick and it will never show up on CR, other than a HP?

Left this one in my multi quotes yesterday. There was something in the amex paperwork that came with my card about canceling the card, if you made no charges on it. I've had no hard pulls from Chase or Amex - only from Synchrony bank for the Lowes card two years ago and from Bank of America for the Amtrak card.

I don’t think so. But I have no real knowledge on that one.
See above

Oh no...hope it’s straightened out quickly

Does your husband’s business have a name?

He operates as a sole proprietor, and that's what the CIP is set up under. The business does have it's own EIN. He was instantly approved for the CIP even though I used his name. Maybe because I was using an EIN?

As far as the CIP....I’m not sure if Chase would consider the business already having a CIP since your using the same EIN and business name your husband did. I’d think it would be safer to use your own name and SS number to,open the card...
My original plan was to do this - use my SSN and name to open the CIP. I was meaning I would use the existing business's revenue/income/length information.

You have an EIN? Get excited. You could apply using the company EIN since you are an authorizing officer of the company as an owner.

Then you can each apply for another CIP for your other “business” using just your SSN and First Last for the business name- we’ve all got a side hustle of some sort or other, rental property, eBay, etc.

My parents successfully did this so I know it works!

You could end up with 380k URs for $380.

:cheer2: ok this does sound super exciting but also a little scary!!! Does it change things if the CIP we have already is with an EIN but under DH'S name? You're saying I could open one under my name using the same EIN? Does it matter if I'm already an AU on his CIP?

DH is legitimately diversifying his business operation sometimes next year and it would involve opening up a separate LLC...so it seems like that's another possibility to consider.

Impressive multitasking abilities! :thumbsup2

Thank you!

Are you kidding me??!! I live right next to Plantation! It’s less than 5 minutes away!

I've joined DIS earlier in the year and this is the first time I ventured over to the Budget board. My mind is completely blown! Wow, this thread is going to get me in a lot of trouble!!

I've always been a 1 credit card user, same cash rewards card for probably the last 10 years. I don't really have time to go back through 2000 pages of info, but I will definitely start reading up on this topic.

Any suggestions as to which cards to sign up for the best bonuses right now? Our travel is all planned and booked for the rest of the year, but we are open to hotel/air for 2019. No solid destination plans yet. Is it best to decide on a place before accumulating points?

Thank you!

I knew you lived in Florida. That's just plain ridiculous. Probably stuck in a UPS distribution center. We actually get a lot of weekend delivery so maybe it will be there today. Or even tomorrow. Not sure how they work down there.
