I love credit cards so much!

I been so busy I work I haven’t had a chance to go back and check. What happened to the referral links? Did they decide to keep doing referral threads?
r/churning will not have official threads. However r/churningreferrals will be spun off and work basically the same way - and continue to drive rankt.

What would happen if I made a Disney room deposit on my CSR, earned the $300 travel credit and also had some of those funds count towards the MSR and then months later I decide I want a different reservation and I cancel my original reservation and the deposit is refunded? I plan on exceeding the $4,000 to have a cushion, but I do not want to jeopardize the travel credit and bonus points.

I had this situation earlier this year - Booked for Universal thru Costco Travel - rec'd my $300 travel credit. Then 2 months later a good AP deal came up and I cancelled the Costco Booking and booked direct (using a different card).

No impact on my CSR $300 Travel credit - tho I did have other travel spend on the card that could have taken the place of the canceled booking.

Hi everyone! I was advised via another thread I started that I should come over here and ask for some help. So here I am!

I'm about to start my first Disney vacation with my daughter and I'd like to start planning to take her on another one. But not like next year, or even the year after, but probably something closer to 5 years. I'd like start saving (obviously) but also figure out other ways to make the most of my money and spending so I can have my money do more for me! I poked around this thread some and, quite frankly, was super overwhelmed. There's a lot of phrases and abbreviations that I don't follow.

But I'm told everyone here is super friendly and willing to hold my hand (metaphorically speaking) to help me out :)

So... hi! :)
Welcome @Stefien Quix to our awesome group! I know you've gotten a lot of responses so far but I'll echo some comments here.
  • Consider joining our private reddit group DISchurners. All you need to do is PM me (or lain or albort) your reddit name. If you don't have one...register for one at reddit.com :)
  • DISchurners has a whole thread of Disney tips which might be helpful (although we'll give you that same advice here)
  • Of course you can also support fellow DISers by using their links at DISchurners too, and that's pretty cool!
  • Your timeline is fantastic. It is entirely possible to pay for 100% of your next trip!! If you start saving now...you could probably have enough points within a year even. And guess what (shhh) you can repeat the steps and then earn another free trip!
  • If your wife is willing to sign up for some cards too...you are in heaven! We call that 2 player mode, and it makes this game MORE than twice as lucrative!
  • IF you sign up for 3 cards - Chase Ink Preferred (CIP - a biz card); Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR); and Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) you could earn over $3,000 towards a trip right there. That can be used to stay on site at Disney and pay for tickets. They can also be used for off-site hotels, flights, etc.
  • IF your wife also signed up for those 3 cards you could refer her and earn $3,600 the 2nd time around!
  • YES...you just read that correctly...6 cards...$6,600 towards our DREAM Disney vacation. It's really that simple.
I know you asked about double dipping. Put simply, IF you hold a CSP OR CSR card, you cannot apply for the other card. The way to get around this is to apply for both on the same day.

One last word of advice...please think about your strategy in this game very carefully. Don't apply for any cards without running it past the group. While on the surface this game isn't terribly complex, there are numerous rules out there and any misstep could cost you the ability to MAXIMIZE your points earnings. That's what we try to help people with here - earning the maximum number of points possible in the shortest time possible.

I'm about to book my dream Disney trip...4 nights at Boardwalk, 3 Nights at Contemporary (MK view), Flights down and back, 8 day base tickets...ALL for FREE - thanks to this game! Welcome to the group again and good luck, we're happy to see you join. :D

Finally returned something I bought via Paypal in Q2... clothing item I was excited about, but didn't like how it fit. Took it back to the store yesterday to return, only got 1x points taken away. Which I expected. Makes me giggle still...

Any suggestions on how the best/easiest way to use the Apple Pay $5 AmEx offer? I noticed the sign at Staples the other day, but I don't think our grocery store has it. Thanks!

OK thx. My Walgreens worked great, no filler. I just used a Nordstrom rack offer that hasn't gone pending yet. Will hold onto the receipt in case. Think I may order from sams online and throw GC in with the order to see what happens.
I'm heading out today to try and get this RMN app to work right....so far 3 purchases (instore) only one has credited. The other two don't even show pending. The email I got back says I have to wait 15 days to appeal and send in receipt and stuff. So a waste of time basically for me so far. I'm going to try some online and instore today(Pier 1,Staples,Nordsrom Rack) and see what happens. I want to give the online Walgreens/sams club/lowes/amazon/staples/sulily a shot today....wish me luck. I think I'm going to need it. Any of these I shouldn't bother trying for gc?

r/churningreferrals is starting up today. A couple of test threads were posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/churningreferrals/

They don't currently have ANY karma requirements, but those will be implemented soon. u/zachiv31 is just working out the kinks. I know many of you don't care about this so you can ignore my comment anytime I discuss it, haha. Eliminating official referrals was a HUGE change to r/churning though and it will be interesting to see if this new sub can work together with r/churning to keep them alive.

Any hotel and/or restaurant recommendations for Pittsburgh? Cool things to see and do?

Dh and I will be staying there for 2 nights next week, combining driving back from dropping youngest at IU with meeting some of his clients he doesn't see often. I'll be hanging at the hotel without a car while he's meeting one morning, so ideally the hotel should be really interesting or at least within walking distance of a coffee place :rotfl:

Remember, we're super-new to churning so we don't have points to book with yet :goodvibes

Station Square might be a good place for you to stay. They have a lot of restaurants and things in that little area. It is also where the Gateway Clipper boat cruise or the Duck boat cruise launch from. You could walk to the incline from there and you can walk across the bridge to get to downtown area and Point State park.

So should we try to post links in there even if we have low karma, or will we be booted out later?

Good Morning .....
The next card I’m applying for is the CSR....plan was to apply 8/16...since I opened the CIP on 5/15....

do you think I’m ok to apply today ? Pretty much met the spend on my husbands CIP onpned the end of June and looking at about $1,000 in spend Tuesday or Wednesday next week

I’m at 3/24 and at 23% of household income with Chase(personal and business cards)..my other cards are

Chase Disney...received first day they offered it years ago
Chase SW Plus 7/16/16..going to call for a retention offer after my points post with the 8/15/18 statement...will keep either way...may upgrade in Sept to the new SW Priority card
Chase Disney 1/18/17...now closed
Jared 5/5/17 ..now .closed
Chase SW Premier 9/27/17...will close in October after points post
Chase SW business 9/27/17...will close in October after points post
CIP 5/15/18

Willing to wait until 8/16 and put the $1,000 on a CIP if you all think I should ....Thanks :)
I think you will be fine you have put time In between but with chase you never know. That would put you with 5 apps in a year. Even though there are 2 business cards.

Wondered if I could pick y'alls brain...

My mom had some SPG points. Cancelled her card. They say her points will expire end of Oct because of that.

I booked a room at the Dolphin right before the initial price increase. So 10k points/nt. 4nts, 5th free. I was kind of taking a shot in the dark on dates. So I've got this booked oct 25-30.

I really don't need the reservation now. We can go, but some circumstances have changed and I don't need that many nights. We have FW booked for 30-4th and we really don't need a mega trip. Family prefers to be at the Fort over Halloween so we'd prefer to keep that leg of the trip.

Thinking...
* Cancelling dolphin stay all together-but how do i recoup her points. We don't have same address on file. Can i still transfer (under new stariott rules) if we're not in same household?
* dolphin for 2 or 3 nights-wondering if they'll let me keep those nights for the 10k/nt then refund the remaining points. Back to same ? about what to do with her points since they'll expire...or how do i keep them alive.

Any thoughts?

You all have probably figured out by now that I like to sit and debate every possible scenario...

So yesterday I'm debating a Universal Hotel night, at $337... do I cash out Discover cb for Hotels.com GCs? Do I use the AMEX BB deal for them, and still cash out Discover - still $0 but better return with swagbucks deal? Use UR points? Use accumulated Barclay points ($220)?

Then I remembered that we have a lot of UR points - 193k total (might use some for hotel if we go Labor Day weekend, so this is before that). And if all goes according to plan, I will get the CIP, then CSR/CSP double dip over the next 6ish months... So anywere from 228k to 250k URs with bonus categories and referral/AU points. And hopefully another SW CP/ 110k+ RR pts, and maybe the Marriott personal or SPG Lux for DH so another 75k-100k points there to add to my current stash of 235k after the programs combine....

I think I'm gonna go with the UR points :rotfl:
