Anyone have experience with the SPG offers on Amex. I've got one for spend $300/$60 back.

There this weekend. Room is on points but I wondered if my room charges (parking, resort fee, restuarants) would all count towards the $300. If so, I could justify a trip to Shula's pretty easily

Great! May I ask you what you mean by split payments? I'd been toying around with something else. We're driving down tomorrow night, we'll stay at an SPG property in Jacksonville. I booked one for maybe 3k points, but DH is picky and wants to stay where we have before. It's 7k points or $150ish. I think it's a better cash value than points. What if I pay for that room on my SPG Amex, wondering if that will combine with our Swan expenses.

I am behind, so not sure if this was answered but I can confirm yes to room charges and staying at 2 different SPG properties working. We stayed at Swan in June and made sure when we ate at Picabu to charge it to our room. This got us to around $240 in room charges (dining and resort fee). This past week we stayed at another Sheraton for $85 and received our $60 credit soon after.

What about AU'ers? My dd18 is an AU'er on my CF. I could have her download the app, set up a RMN account but should I use the CF, or just have her use her own CC? I only miss out on the 5x but I don't like missing out on anything lol.

The cc number would be the same if she’s an AU. But you could def do an account with other cards for sure and you’d get the $5 back still 20% still Gucci (as my 12 year old DS says)!

I don’t see the Staples offer on my RTMN app. Only online is that what people are doing?

We've gotten late B or C when checking in 24 hours before also. We've been able to board with family boarding up to our last trip, and always had 6 seats together (we head to the back). Now my youngest is 7 so we'll have to take our rightful spot in line.

When dh & I went to FL this past April, we had b36 and b40 and we had no trouble sitting together. I'm guessing maybe you did have a smaller plane on your second trip??

When my youngest DD was 7 we told her to say she was 6. No one asked!! Lol! Now she is 8 so we will board with the minions

I am opening 2 new lines for the watches. Was just thinking I could do one through DH SW portal and one through mine. It doesn't say once per person, but just in case.

The catch is the Verizon account is his name. Think it needs to match Verizon acct to SW portal?

OMG. My Amex Plat didn’t arrive so I called. The rep spelled my address wrong when I applied. So the rep was saying the tracking said undeliverable wrong address. She at first suggested I contact UPs and inform them??? I was like uhhh noooooo.... like what kind of solution is that??? then she said I could get a replacement card in 3-10 days I again said this was unacceptable that it is a premium card with a $450 annual fee and it should be overnighted... there was nothing she could do... I again said it was unacceptable after a long hold magically the card is getting overnighted.... I feel bad for being so firm, but I need the card. She then thanked me for being so patient sarcastically. It was actually a little obnoxious. But whatever the card should hopefully be here tomorrow.

I might have just done the dumbest or smartest thing ever. I'm on chat with Amex transferring 75K MR to SPG. Hopefully things go well and I can convert those to 225K Marriott points. I'll report back.

Here's where I'm a little at loose ends.... I have a stash of Dis GC,and no trip planned (i used them for dining etc while there) I don't intend to go back for a couple of years..... so I don;t know that it's wise for me to sink any more $ into that right now (limited budget) so I've gotten a bunch of Amazon gc (love Prime etc) and a few visa gc(yes I paid the 6.00 fee) now I'm still using the gc I got last quarter on groceries (those go too fast) and plan to get some more visa gc at staples etc to use the deal. even with the fee I come out ahead...I register the visa gc on the website,does this make them any safer to keep and use? I swear spending them on groceries ,it seems like I run thru them like water at this point(I guess we eat too much!) if I assign my visa gc a pin,can I use at a gas station?

So what I’ve been doing is buying Amazon gc’s and turning those into Stop and Shop gcs on Amazon for groceries. Amazon has a few grocery store might be an option for you.

Arghh that's super frustrating, especially since it was their error. Glad it should be coming tomorrow.

That reminds me a bit of when my wallet got lost with USPS... I was halfway into the 8hr drive back to college after the summer when I realized I left it on the kitchen table! So I called my grandparents and they went over to my house and took it straight to the post office and put it in the mail. It never showed. When I looked up the tracking it was in Grand Junction, CO (I was Fort Collins). I got lots of unhelpful USPS employees accusing my grandma of putting the wrong zip code on it (which we could see when looking up the tracking... and the town name had updated to that zip code's). They ended up telling me that eventually it would get sent back to sender, and my only hope was if someone sorted it by hand in Denver. So I watched it go back and forth from Grand Junction to some little town for two weeks, and finally back to Denver... and it did end up coming to Fort Collins. But I had been with no ID, no debit card, no student ID, no nothin' for OVER A MONTH. I couldn't even get paid for my on campus job because I didn't have my ID or SS card. All I had was $125 back from the previous year's security deposit, and $40 from my dad because we thought my wallet would be there in 2 days...

I did get an apology letter from USPS.

I have never gotten A boarding when checking in 24 hours early. Did not even know it was possible. One time I checked in 24 hours early and got Cs! And wouldn't you know, we still sat together near the very back of the plane. On our way home we got late Bs, like maybe B50-54 and there was nothing together. NOTHING. So it very much depends. I guess maybe the 2nd plane was smaller, not sure. So only 1 time have I not been able to sit next to at least 1 of my party. I am a nervous flyer and very much need a knee or hand to squeeze during take off and landing. I think my family might like it better if they don't sit next to me. lol

I have mostly gotten early/mid B and occasionally a A at 24 hours. I think maybe once or twice a late B.

Yeesh, I don’t blame you for standing firm. If I spend that much on a card in annual fees, I want it overnighted to me and I’m not calling around to try to find it. I mean, even if I wasn’t in the CC game, I’d expect a certain level of service at that rate.

My success of the day... oh besides that Hilton Biz for DH forgot to renew Costco last month and was reminded of that when I logged on. I decided to roll the dice on an executive membership since I can get the difference refunded to me if I don't spend enough. I only have $37 to go on Hilton biz and think, guess I could over spend it.. not sure I want to wait for DHs (and this was before I did his app). Then d'oh, Costco doesn't even take AMEX online so that doesn't matter. Okay... could get 1x UR now or 2x Barclay on Dhs card tonight. But wait! I have my stack of GCs from Safeway from Q2... Used my $500 MCGC which I paid $495.95 for and got $24.80 back on Discover

Side story: I had my envelope of Visa/MC gcs at work yesterday, and also all the gcs I got from Amazon Prime day in there, out on the desk. I was going to apply a bunch to my auto insurance bill. My boss came in and was like, oh wedding gifts?

Yeesh, I don’t blame you for standing firm. If I spend that much on a card in annual fees, I want it overnighted to me and I’m not calling around to try to find it. I mean, even if I wasn’t in the CC game, I’d expect a certain level of service at that rate.

I really can’t believe how I was treated on that phone call. I thought Amex was supposed to have higher end service. It’s also super frustrating that they lie and say nothing can be done when something clearly can be done since I’m not getting it overnighted.
