I love credit cards so much!

DH and I both have the CSR and I have been wondering if I should keep mine or not. It makes the most sense for DH to have it if we only have 1. The only benefit I can see for keeping it is if we travel as a family and want to use PP since they now restrict how many you can bring in. Though as an AU don't I also get the PP and could still do this? Can't remember. Obviously we all say not to add as AU because it affects your card count, but now wondering if I add myself to a 2 year old card, does that not count against me?

As the AU, you will get your own PP, so you could bring 2 guests on yours (make sure to request a physical PP for your AU status) and your DH could bring 2 guests on his. I've noticed that AU cards show up on our Experian credit reports as being opened when the primary cardholder opened their account. So if his CSR is over 2 years old, I would expect an AU card for you would show on your credit report as being over 2 years old.

I think I missed the rest of this conversation.....about the spg usage/points spent before 8/1.... any final info on the value if it posts as spent beofre that date (regardless of statement date?)

Speaking of Plastiq, after paying my Honda car payment for months using plastiq, it would not work this morning. I had to remove "Finance" from "American Honda Finance Corporation" and then it was accepted.
Yea, the change happened roughly a month or so ago, roughly around the same time the personal Visa cash advance non-sense was introduced. The last two payments I made (I don't schedule them), I had to change "Finance" to "Fin." and it goes through fine. Seems like there's some kind of algo. that associates "Finance" with mortgage lol.

Thank you both for this info! I change Finance to Fin and it worked fine this morning.

It won’t count against your x/24 if it was first opened more than 24 months ago. AUs get their own PP membership from my understanding.

Good to hear! I was having second thoughts after reading about the UR points taking so long to post after cancelling a reservation. We spent lots of points yesterday for Christmas week and I am already thinking of changing it around!

This was much earlier in the year things could have changed so I would not take that as fact. I was on the phone with her and she said she would cancel my old reservation and we'd book the new one. She proceeded with that and the points showed up instantly on my end, she then noticed I was short and I said I'd just pay the difference and then she informed me I had until Disney's policy to pay so I waited till I earned them all.

Has anyone noticed an influx in 'Business Services' mail after applying for the CIC/CIP? I have had a business for the past 10 years and really never received much business level mailings but now since receiving the CIC/CIP I have gotten 4~6 mailings suggesting new business services. Guess they sold my name to make up the sign-up bonus.
You can control if they share your info in the privacy notice on the card.

Ah okay I will have to look into that tonight, Is it on the website or is this a written letter policy they know no one will bother with? LOL
You should just be able to call the number on the back of your card and tell them you want to change your privacy choices so your information isn’t shared with anyone. (The ability to do that is governed by federal and state laws so you have this option with all bank accounts and credit cards you open.)

As for the companies that already have your info if any of the mailers are persistent I’ve had decent luck getting off mailing lists by just calling them and saying I wanted to be removed from mailing lists.

Thanks, I have until January to decide, but I think I may go this route. For some reason, I more nervous to PC both my Sapphires in the same month than I was to double dip them! I was thinking I would just PC one to make me not look so bad, but reality is, I don't really need either.

Related to my note above about being nervous to double PC in the same month, I always have shutdown fears in the back of my mind. Yesterday at Kroger I used my CIP and it was declined. At first, I didn't think too much, thought the register messed up, tried again and it was again declined. My first thought was, oh #$@% Chase shut me down! Luckily, my other card with me was my Amex so when that also declined I felt a little better, had I given them another of my Chases and it was declined I may have cried right in the grocery line. lol I am not sure the problem, but it took 10 tries and a manager, but they did finally get my CIP through.

So my CSP AF is coming up. If I cancel it can I then apply for CSR after say 30days. Or does the Sapphire have rule that you couldn't have gotten a bonus in the last two years apply. I don't want to cancel and not able to get any Sapphire for another year. I am at 4/24 currently..3/24 in august.

The 24 month applies to the Sapphire cards. You will want to wait to apply for the CSR until it has been 24 mos after you received the bonus on the CSP.

DVC member....but don’t have the Arrival+.....learning a lot here since May....I usually pay all my dues in January ...so my plan right now is to open the Chase CIC in November or December ..then use it at Staples to buy Disney gift cards which will give me 5x URs...then pay my dues with the gift cards...

Yes, that's also an option, although generally when I go the gift card route I buy them from Target for 5% off. Much more valuable to me than URs.

DVC member here and I also pay my annual dues with Disney gift cards purchased at Staples for 5x UR. If I purchase $500 in Disney gift cards and take the Target 5% off then I save $25. This is a nice savings of course and cash is king for some. However, I think one also must take into account how they plan to utilize the savings. If the savings is to go towards travel then further exploration may be in order.

If I get the $500 in Disney GCs at staples for 5x then I get 2,500 UR points. I can redeem them for travel via the CSR UR portal for a value of $37.50. If I have the CSP or CIP then I have $31.25 that I can use towards my travel purchase via the UR portal. If I don’t purchase travel enough to warrant holding UR points then of course that would be a moot point.

For me personally, I will sacrifice the 5x bonus points for either meeting an MSR or when I have an Amex offer that will get me 10% or better in a statement credit. I hope this helps any who may be weighing options on whether to go for bonus points or immediate cash savings and discounts.

Transfer your 22,329 UR from your Freedom to combine with the 94,535 UR on your CIP. Add your wife as an “employee” cardholder (effectively, an authorized user) on your CIP. You should now be able to transfer your combined URs (or however much you need) on your CIP to your wife’s RR account once she is an authorized user on the CIP and since she shares the same household.

I believe this should work on a biz card, although I’ve never personally tested it. The general rule is you can transfer UR points to a spouse’s loyalty account with a Chase travel partner if they are an authorized user of the card and share the same household. The reason you wouldn’t want to add your wife as an AU on the Freedom is AU accounts will count against her 5/24, unless your Freedom is more than 24 months old. Requesting an employee card for your wife on the CIP won’t show up as a new account on her credit reports, and therefore won’t count against your 5/24.
This worked perfectly. Got my tickets. Thanks so much for the advice @Lain !!! Now I just have to stalk SW until (hopefully) the price drops and I can reclaim some of those RR points.

I just remembered ApplePay also allows P2P payments.
Thanks going to check into how to use Apple Pay. That would be easiest probably

Next card drop-off will be April 2019. I see what you are saying.. the problem though is that b/c my ex-DH is moving out next week, my "big spending" is about to happen. I would struggle as a single mom to meet the MSR's without all this furniture I am about to buy. If I go for the CF or CFU or something now, how long would I have to wait before I could get the double dip?

Yeah, I think I am done with the CIP. I can't risk getting denied again and then waiting all over again. I need to buy this furniture soon and that's how I am planning on meeting the MSR's.

Good to know about the limits. I tend to pay my cards off twice a month so a low limit is fine.

Sorry, what do you mean by "push it through".. call the recon line?

Thank you! Yes, I guess I would be locked out Chase until April. My other option is to get a CF or CFU.. those were the other cards I was trying to get eventually. Do you think the big bonus of the CSP outweighs the everyday bonuses of something like the CF or CFU?

Also if I call recon for the CSP, won't they see I just got approved for the CSR?

To double dip I used Chrome incognito to apply for the csr. Clicked on a referral link and applied. Once approved I closed the window and opened a new incognito and clicked on another referral link and applied for the csp. No problems. Since you want the csr more apply for that first. Once approved then apply for the csp. Good luck!

If you have multiple airports close to you check them. We have bwi and dca about the same distance from us and found dca cheaper to fly out and bwi back home.
