I love credit cards so much!

@Judique @happ There were two Sam's offers recently, a $15 off $30 and now a $15 off $50. Could you have gotten both? Some of my cards did.

Anything is possible. I usually redeem all the Sam's offers for gift cards. I may have confused the two offers - but, if that's the case I need to get on the stick and use this offer!!!

Does anyone know the best way to order a MacBook through Apple to maximize points? Last time I went through chase portal to get double points. Not sure if that was the best. This time I am using my Hyatt card I just got, wasn’t sure if the shopping portals worked on cobranded cards? Or should I do something like the Southwest portal someone mentioned earlier? Haven’t looked into this at all yet, but DD just got back from Thailand and is now in a hurry to get things ready for leaving for college. Hope we didn’t wait too long, I remember watching the tracking on my last DDs MacBook and it literally took the slow boat from China. Took forever to get here. I think it got here right before classes, but she goes to school 20 minutes from home. This DD is going 7 hours away, so needs to get here before she leaves!

At least with the United MileagePlus Shopping portal, it makes no difference what payment method you use (i.e., any kind of credit card, gift cards, etc).

This sounds good. Does it matter that I added her as an employee cardholder on my CIP a few hours ago?
Nope - that shouldn’t matter. Best part for you is you’ll get 20k referral + 80k bonus + 5k (min) from spend for a total of 105k. Basically the same as the double dip but just one app and only 5k spend. :)

Oh and then she can double dip...and 100k more!! Gosh I love this game :D

When will your next card drop off? If you double dip now you’ll be at 5/24. You could get a personal...now 4/24...then double dip...
Next card drop-off will be April 2019. I see what you are saying.. the problem though is that b/c my ex-DH is moving out next week, my "big spending" is about to happen. I would struggle as a single mom to meet the MSR's without all this furniture I am about to buy. If I go for the CF or CFU or something now, how long would I have to wait before I could get the double dip?

You sure you don’t want to try for the CIP again? If you do the double dip you would be over 5/24 and then can’t try for it.

The double dip is just applying for the cards back to back. You will probably have to use a different web browser. If you prefer the CSR do that one first. Another downside to the double dip is they will likely approve you for a limit and then lower both your card limits. I didn’t really care about this because I don’t need a high limit on the cards. I got approved for like 25k and 17k. They got reduced to 4K each.

Yeah, I think I am done with the CIP. I can't risk getting denied again and then waiting all over again. I need to buy this furniture soon and that's how I am planning on meeting the MSR's.

Good to know about the limits. I tend to pay my cards off twice a month so a low limit is fine.

apply for CSR, push it through if u get 30 days, apply for CSP afterwards, push that through as well.

Sorry, what do you mean by "push it through".. call the recon line?

I think you are fine to go for the DD. You will be 5/24 after though and locked out for awhile, which is ok cause you want to lay off Chase for a bit anyways after that.

If the CSR is your first choice, apply and call recon if necessary to get the approval. Once that is done, switch browsers and apply for the CSP. You can call recon on that one as well, if not immediately approved. Do it soon while still in business hours and GOOD LUCK!!

Thank you! Yes, I guess I would be locked out Chase until April. My other option is to get a CF or CFU.. those were the other cards I was trying to get eventually. Do you think the big bonus of the CSP outweighs the everyday bonuses of something like the CF or CFU?

Also if I call recon for the CSP, won't they see I just got approved for the CSR?

In that case...go for the double dip! It makes sense in your situation and April isn’t too far away. You could get an Amex Biz card later this year while you wait.

I like the concept of having to affirm the change, that way they know you received the notice and aren't going to be calling them up to yell at them later. But really, can't you give me a check box on my reservation if it's that minor? Baby steps I guess.
Except that your reservation would be cancelled if you missed the email! And totally agree about the checked box.

I'd go for the big bonus since you have big spend also. April is really not that far away and you can go for one of the others then. Like @SouthFayetteFan mentioned, after your DD, you can stay busy with some Amex biz if you are looking for new cards.

They definitely may see that you did apply for the CSP but others have had the rep mention the other app but still approve them. I don't keep up with the DP's on these things but @Lain may have some to share. Your other option, and the one I'd probably go with, is to let the second app 'ride' and not call. If the CSR is the card you really want, then call on that one and make sure you get it approved and just let the chips fall where they may with the CSP.

Can they sell you an AP? We've never had AP's but maybe considering for next year so just wondering how that works.

We have gotten AP the last many years. I usually purchase the ticket that will get the biggest savings on Undercover Tourist (save $68 on 7 day PH), pay with my CSR for 3x points, and then “bridge them to AP with Disney gift cards. I generally value my UR at > .015.

So, I wonder if buying a 7-day PH through the UR site, and then bridging that would be a good option? I'm not even certain we want to do this but it's been on my mind lately :)

Awesome. Thanks!

A ticket bought through the UR site is a ticket bought from Disney. There's no discount on it. So, there is no bridging it. You could upgrade it to any higher priced ticket that Disney sells. Your discount is using your UR's instead of cash.

Bridging comes in when you buy discounted tickets from authorized resellers such as Undercover Tourist and Disney 'bridges' the price to the gate price of the ticket before an upgrade.

If the Chase site can sell you an AP for UR's, that would be your best deal. If they can't, then the ticket with the highest price, most days and hopping that is still under the price of the AP, would be your next best deal.

Looks like Apple is 1 point per dollar in the SW portal but you can use your Hyatt card no problem. Plus you'll get extra points for the current shopping promo. You can buy a MacBook from other retailers too. There is a student coupon for Best Buy for $150 off some models. With Best Buy, you can also earn Best Buy points. I ordered a MacBook last week from BB. Came within 2 days...no slow boat!

Were you able to add the promo by clicking through the email, or did you call? Every time I try to add it through the email, I get an error that the 'page is temporarily unavailable'.
It worked without any problems.

Got all excited to finally see a FedEx 10% back offer on my SPG Biz! Then was just as quickly deflated as I see it's on FedEx Office purchases. :headache: So I have 25% back on Freight and 10% back on Office, neither of which I have any plans to use this year. It's cruel roller coaster of AmEx offers.

And just to confirm I'm not missing anything, AmEx doesn't have Price protections, right? When I search for price protection all the results come back for purchase protection. I want to use my AmEx 10% at Lowe's on actual products (I know I'm strange) but I'm sure as soon as I do it there'll be a sale. Lowe's doesn't really state if they do price adjustments and it's stuff I'm not hauling back to the store to return and rebuy.

Yea, the change happened roughly a month or so ago, roughly around the same time the personal Visa cash advance non-sense was introduced. The last two payments I made (I don't schedule them), I had to change "Finance" to "Fin." and it goes through fine. Seems like there's some kind of algo. that associates "Finance" with mortgage lol.
They caught onto my "Cashier" trick for Navy Federal a couple of months ago. I let the dust settle and just tried a new payment to NFC Union. It went through so far. Lets see if I get an email from Eric tomorrow!

It was a bit of a system shock this morning- can't imagine what if would have been like finding out when we went to check in! No, we were scheduled with a 2 hour layover in SLC so it's not that bad. Now I'm wondering what the heck do people with 6+ hour layovers DO in SLC?!

Well unless you wanted to meet me in person and go to dinner I think you would just have to sit in the airport. :)

Seriously though there should be a 530 flight you can get moved too and not have to do the red eye.
