I've rubbed off on DH. He just sent me a screenshot of the email he just got, from Chase offering the 75k UR points with a mortgage

I concur. Back in my days of thinking a southwest card bonus was an awesome way to save on travel (it is but that has evolved...a lot) I was dying to get DH the sw card before the 50k offer went away. Closing was scheduled for the last day of the 50k bonus. I app’d On the day of our closing thinking surely they were done doing what they do with the closing only a few hours away. Oops, nope. We still closed but we had to get a letter faxed from chase that we cancelled the app etc. Lesson learned.![]()
YES! Kind of embarrassing really, but we did our first refi in our current house about 4 years ago. I was actively churning SW and Disney back then and had just signed up for my first ihg card (dh's card...). Anyways, it never occurred to me that I had just applied for these three cards (two for dh, one for me) while in the process of refi'ing. We had just started and the gal is like, 'what are you doing!?!'. I just had to write a statement for each one but I remember just apologizing profusely over the phone to her and explaining that I was opening all these cards for our Disney trip the following year lol. She was like, 'Uh, yeah, I'll talk to the underwriter'. We got approved for the refi but I'm sure she thought I was totally a nutcase.
Yeah they follow up on the day of closing again. Buddy of mine learned that the hard way they verified employment and credit like 30m before closing, they still closed but it was a few days later. That almost got me indirectly, we bought a brand new house so needed a Washer/Dryer/Fridge, then got DD a new bedroom set and us a mattress from NFM. This was all well below my limit and I verified twice in case I needed to pay a bit on a CC. Found out the that evening from my credit monitoring they pulled my credit, their excuse was so I had plenty available in case I wanted to buy more that weekend. ARGH! Called the bank right away and they were cool with it and said I was way under any risk still since it was just a $5k addition but man that scared me at first! Just had to bring in a bill that showed a low or no balance, easy nothing posted yet.![]()
I work in mortgage, and yes, we do pull a credit refresh right before closing. It's not a huge issue, but the problem is we would have to have the new account added to your credit report, and verify the new balance/payment, which wouldn't be able to be done yet if you didn't have your account number yet..
I think you have to callI may just be slow, but how do you actually buy a nights/flights on the marriott website? I go in (logged in) and "view" the offer I want. Its says there are 3 steps, choose quantity, then review order then something else. I seem to have chosen the quantity ok, but I can't get it to move to "review order". Help?
If I add DD as an AU on our CSP, would I be able to transfer UR points to her RR account? She has points but I need to add more to book a flight.
I'd definitely feel better about doing it tomorrow since a couple of you have backed up my hesitation. And it's not more than 50% of my income, but I really didn't want that increase!!
To be clear - CSR is Chase Sapphire Reserve and CSP is Chase Sapphire Preferred (the one with the $450 annual fee? gasp)?

@MsOnceUponATime These are some of the responses I got yesterday when I asked about applying during the HELOC application process. I knew it was a nono to do it during mortgage process, but wasn't sure if it would also mess up my HELOC. I will be waiting till it closes.
Yes to what they are called but it is the CSR that has the (gasp) $450 fee. Apply to which one you want the most first. I hope you joined our reddit group and will consider using one of the support links there. Good luck!
Welcome back! The rumor is that the existing hotel certificates will be reverted to points. If they convert the points to it's full 6 day value, most of us are happy with that, but we don't know how many points will be given for the certificates.OK, I am making the executive decision to stop trying to catch up on the thread that went crazy while I was in Hawaii. I keep trying but then ya'll just add more. I am starting fresh from yesterday and hoping I didn't miss anything too terrible exciting. Although I did see there is rumors of the nights and flights packages being messed with. Mariott, you better not TOUCH my nights and flights. I have big plans for 2019!
Paging @SouthFayetteFan @Albort @Lain !Thanks! I've requested a link to the Reddit group - just waiting on approval (or however it works).

And DONE
I would agree that the assumptions made thus far could be wrong. The wording released (all stemming from a FlyerTalk poster who is a supposed SPG employee) seems intentionally vague. It would seem to me that until something official comes out from Marriott, that all options are on the table so your theory is as good as anySo for the Marriott nights and flights rumor, has anyone discussed the possibility that we're thinking about "points" wrong? Like right now they're categories but with the new category chart the point values for those categories are different. So like they did with the annual free night certificate where they changed from cat 1-5 to up to 35k (or 25k), could it be they are cancelling the category certificate and subbing it with a "up to 35k" cert? In essence converting it to points?
I could be crazy but I don't read the FT and Reddit forums much so I don't know if that's already been dismissedThe part about crediting to a users account for future redemption makes it a little awkward on the wording so it's hard to tell.
ETA: Since it says "Floater certificates, including outstanding Marriott Travel Packages,..." it makes me think the CC annual night certs are included as a 'floater' so anyone who got their free night before aug 1 and hasn't used it will be converted to the points cert like will be issued after aug 1.
Do you have a confirmation number from when you booked your Daughter's companion flights? (Or are you thinking you potentially forgot to add her now)Ahhhhh! Companion pass people! We leave Sat and I just went to look at the flight info in the SW app and it shows just me and DW and has a "Add Companion" button for that flight and the return flight (Separate reservations) where on the other two reservations for Oct it shows DD's name under the companion... The website shows two conf numbers under all four flights... I was not as worried until I went to change the flight (To see if it says I could not because it has a companion attached) and it lets me, it wont for the Oct trips!! SWA has a 40m hold time so I am waiting but is this a common glitch?!

Are there seats in ANY fare bucket left for your flights you are on? If so, regardless of the issue...no worry as you can still add her.
