I love credit cards so much!

Yeah, I’m getting a “System is disabled” error message. The same thing happened to me early last week when it was down for about a day; tried again the next day and it worked. Later in the week, I got a “Transaction declined” error message that prompted me to email MPX, which I did and it was working again the next day (though I doubt it’s because anyone did anything for my account on the other end; they’ve historically taken over a week to even respond).

MPX has been kind of glitchy lately. If you can wait, try again tomorrow.
I was able to buy an Old Navy gift card, but I was getting the Transatlantic Declined message with the Amazon purchase.

I see alot of chase cancellations if they do this. I can think of several just in my own house.

If Chase were to go ahead and do this while I wouldn't close my Freedom cards I would put them away (once I have used all the points) because I've had my CF for 15 years and I don't think that would go well on my credit report . But also because there is no AF so no problem in just not using it.

Timing is everything! I won't be under 5/24 until July and now I have a big purchase to make in the next 30 days and the Starwood bonuses have gone south. Already have personal so was looking at the Biz. And if I could put this off until July I could do a double dip - darn timing issue!

So that got me to looking at other (non Chase) business cards and they mostly don't do a thing for me. I don't need any air miles. So no Delta or AA. I could use an MR card as I have a small MR stash and could add to it. Not really interested in the small cash back cards - I want a decent sized travel bonus card but have to wait for the Chase ones.

Am I missing anything great out there? I've looked at Citi, Barclay, US bank, Amex and now it is really hitting me why Chase is so sought after!

Just caught up after being out of town since early Friday morning! Glad it was a slow weekend with only 11 pages for me to read... I'm applying tomorrow for CIP and can't wait. Really hoping everything goes smoothly!
Good Luck! Hopefully yours doesn’t sit pending for 6 days like my recent CIP app lol! That was a test of my patience!!

Are you able to pull up any Amex Biz Platnium offers for 100kMR or 150KMR?

You’re not alone in that assessment. With AMEX it’s basically Hilton, Delta, or MRs now (with the SPG bonuses tanking). And no other issuers even comes close to touching Chase or AMEX in my opinion. When you’re solely looking for a Biz card that even magnifies it, lol!

How big of a purchase?

What about the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business card? Not subject to 5/24, and won't count against 5/24. 75k Marriott Rewards points after $3k MSR/3 months, first year AF waived. The bonus is equivalent to the 25k SPG that you would've gotten on the SPG Biz, and since Starpoints are going to be converted 3:1 to Marriott points effective 8/1/18 anyway...

A few random musings this morning...
  • My AMEX account is starting to look bare. There were once 12 cards on my account, and now it'd down to 4 as annual fees hit and cards get cancelled, lol!
  • I'm relieved to finally stop cancelling accounts. I think I've cancelled 10 accounts in the past 6 months (basically as a result of my AMEX run in 2016/2017). Even though they are easy calls to make, eventually it wears on me for some reason.
  • I sent my attempt at a CIP 100k match this morning...we'll see if I have any success. I don't have high hopes based on the results thus far
  • I just realized my wife's SPG biz card anniversary is in July so that will really stink, I think we'll miss getting a night cert. That sounds like a CANCEL if they don't give a nice sized retention offer.

Why not just get that Biz Blue+ Card now anyways ;) you can never have too many cards LOL!

Catching up on this thread...But this brings to mind a question as far as what other cc's are comparable to the CSR? Just thinking in case I decide to forego that card. And like comparable as far as an AMEX, Citi maybe even just a Discover since they have 5x categories. Anyone with any good recommendations. Thanks

CSR is obviously Chase’s premium travel card. The comparables would be AMEX platinum, Citi Prestige, and US bank Altitude Reserve. All of these have a “super high” annual fee and come with similar premium benefits.

BofA’s highest end premium travel card is more a comparable towards CSP in my opinion so they aren’t in the conversation with CSR.

So...I was trying to help my MIL get a new CC with some better rewards. She just uses a Wells Fargo one now and return is pretty terrible. She has had a cleaning business for over 20 years. I suggested the CIC - she's not ready for an AF card - and she would really utilize the bonus categories. We did her app yesterday. Got a 30 day msg. Called in for her this morning, they want proof of her business name from the IRS. Not a copy of her schedule C, but some form you have to request from the IRS. :sad2: Sounds like a lot of work to me and MIL is firm NO on doing all that. Any pointers?? Didn't know if she should re-apply with different info or something. So aggravating!

ETA. Her business is a sole prop.

She needs to apply under her own name, not a business name. She can still put down cleaning as the business type and the same revenue, but don't put in a business name unless you are willing to provide paperwork. She can apply again in 30 days under her own name. I'd say give it until May 31/June 1 and have her try again.

Coming out of my lurkerhood to ask for some Disneyland help. I recently came up with a grand plan of going to California next summer. Planning on 5 or so days in San Francisco and another 5 or so days in Disneyland area. Flying from the Northeast. Have not decided on flying or driving between the 2 cities. I have about 100K UR and 40K SWA RR. Close to enough to fly us there and back from the northeast. My plan is for DH, who is at 4/24 to open the two SW cards at the end of the year and hopefully get the CP for 19/20.
Here's some info:
DH
CSP 1/17
Freedom 2/17
AU IHG 4/17 (yeah, wish we didn't do AUs, but done now)
AU Amex hilton 7/17
CIP 3/18
also has an old amazon card and AU on Disney from years ago

Me:
AU on the above CSP and Freedom 1/17, 2/17
IHG 4/17
Amex hilton 7/17
SW plus 1/18
also Disney from years ago and AU on amazon from years ago

I opened SW to get enough points to fly my son and I for a weekend trip to WDW in June. I had no intention of trying for the CP because we only fly about once/year. Until I had the grand plan for California. Also have a cruise booked for 2020, so it would help with that also.

So, to make a long story longer, the airfare should be covered with some (but not a lot) UR left over. I'm mostly looking for Disneyland (or San Francisco) hotel recommendations and the best way to earn points for them. I'm guessing I don't enough time to earn meaningful hotel points with a hotel card, maybe go for more URs? Thinking of CIP for myself in Jan? Any recommendations on Disneyland hotels within walking distance?
Sorry if you've had answers, just trying to catch up... We stayed at the Hyatt Place on the corner of Harbor and Katella at the beginning of the month. It was so clean, everytime we came through they were cleaning or mopping... Nice rooms we thought. Free breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, cereals, breads, pastries, fruit. Coffee and juice. 10ish minute walk to the gates for two adults. I transferred UR points to Hyatt and it was 12k points per night. I'm going to try and post a few pictures today.

They are the only reason I started paying for it. I don't really watch anything else because I can never find anything else. With netflix I get a month or two when the Crown comes out and then I'm done. I do like that they put new episodes out weekly so I don't binge watch it though. I'm sure Amazon has made out great with signing them.
DH would be heartbroken, GT is the reason we signed up for prime in the first place! And it's been super handy when I work crazy hours to get something delivered in two days so I don't have to stop. I hate that it's going up though.

Got my Alamo certificate from Daily Getaways ($50 for $25), tried to use it this afternoon & it didn't work. Called Alamo and they said it's only valid on Saturdays. Escalated with Alamo and they said it's only valid for Sat night rentals, no other days of the week and they would not honor it for anything else and to go talk to whoever I bought it from. The T&Cs from Daily Getaways say "dates of travel: anytime". So I email the address in the confirmation and the address the certificate came from and get responses back they are out of the office until Mon. Of course. When you live in CA don't wait until 4pm on a Fri afternoon to get around to stuff!

Venting done, I'm off to catch up on the dozen pages I missed here yesterday :)
What the heck? I'm not caught back up yet, only to page 1256, so I haven't seen if this is resolved yet.

I am debating buying a Southwest gift card with my CSP card as a gift.
Are there any drawbacks to the gift recipient to using a gift card to purchase the airfare?
Would I get 2x points on a gift card purchase to Southwest?
Are there any tips to get more points?
Or should I send just send a check for the gift and have them receive the Soutwest points? (I think they have a Southwest credit card).

I haven’t really seen any successful DPs lately. I got denied within 30 min. of sending the message but I’m trying again with different wording.

Hmm... I'm going in hard on this one when I apply haha. Not fair to those of who don't have any Chase branches!

I now got a second no...

So I just called the Chase branch I've stopped in before near Cleveland. I went there last year to hit the Chase Checking/Savings bonus on my way to Cleveland for business travel. One of my colleagues thought I was nuts that I left early to hit a bank bonus LOL!

Anyways - they are checking to see if this bonus is available to anybody or if it still requires a BRM...they are supposed to call me back.
