I love credit cards so much!

also if you go for BCP like I did last year google around and search for the no AF offer..... it was a sweet deal with no af 1st year, plus $200 bonus with the card...... I love that card, but right now my attention is diverted with either Discover IT or FR cards on grocery.... (I keep forgetting about the 3x gas on BCP tho!!!) Anyone know if I can get a 2nd card on my IT by asking for a 'replacement'?

Yes. In the manage cards section just pick out a design and they'd ship it free. Both cards are active simultaneously. Hubby even picked out the design he wanted to carry. (I did notice though that my little card image on the site now is the last design we picked. if that matters to anyone :) )

Thinking about Chase's new policy regarding SW cards and the new personal card coming out: My original plan before all this was to have DH get the CP for 2019/20 because I would not be eligible. However, with the new card I should be eligible. If it is 70,000 pts that is a big chunk of the 110,000 needed for the pass. Then there is the spend to put on there to get the 70,000 bonus points that will get me closer. Then if I put EVERYTHING on that card until reaching the 110,000 I just might be able to get the CP by June. We rarely travel outside of the summer months. I would rather have the CP for me anyway since I sometimes fly with DS and not DH.
Hoping the annual fee for this new card will not be outrageous. I do not sign up for cards with more than a $95 fee even if I know I will get it back in travel rewards.

And don't forget the SW shopping portal for the extra spend. Hopefully that may decrease the actual OOP costs to meeting the 110k.

Went to Chase to do the $200 savings bonus. Didn't get it because I wanted to move money from my checking. Not "new money." Womp womp.
It's one big circle of money :) Pull the money to another bank, then push it to your new Chase savings account. Fwiw I believe you have 10 business days to get the new money into the Chase Savings account so you don't need to have all the money when you open it. I wrote a check for like 1,000 in branch from my other bank and a few days later ach'd the rest of the money in from my other bank.

I use the same car seat for travel. And when not traveling it is in our golf cart.
I check our travel stroller though. Have a citi mini for that. I baby wear thru the airport. Don’t want to deal with the stroller at the gate. I always felt stressed trying to fold it and bag it quickly so as to not hold up the line.

After they broke the favored stroller, she uses the big one. It's actually the easiest to fold - I can do it with one hand - so that may be why she uses it. She never bags it - probably related to your stress factor. But it definitely makes the trip all the way to the plane! Can't easily wear two babies!

Using Southwest has been her best experience. She pays for the seats and doesn't worry about it because SW is usually pretty inexpensive anyway - she will travel off days to make it happen at a reasonable price in cash or points. She's a bigger churner than I am by far!

Yep that's what I'm going to do. It's just stupid, but whatever. I want the free $200. I'm opening a Huntington account for DH for a car fund, too. That's another easy $200.

Wading in to ask some advice, since the issue of making car loan payments on CC just came up.

I have a car loan with Wells Fargo, but I don't bank with them (it was bought out). Looking through here and some other articles online, several banks do not accept CC payments, unless it's from their own CC line.

Would it be worth applying for a a WF CashWise Visa, with a $200 bonus after $1000 in the first three months, and a 1.5% cash rewards on purchases? Does anyone have any experience with WF CC? Thanks!

The SW premier card already has a $99 annual fee. If this new premium card comes to fruition I would be shocked if it was anything less than $195 and possibly even more ($300+).

I got that card - it was probably my 40th+ card though (meaning I felt there were 39+ cards worth getting ahead of it). I’d bet there’s a better card option for you than that one.

I'm specifically looking to pay only our car loan with it. We'd use our other rewards card for spending in general.

Were you asking because you were planning on using the card to make payments on the car loan?
What are you going to use a new card for? Some cash back cards have bonus categories in addition to bonuses after spend, such as the Chase Freedom. This can up the amount of cash back you get fairly easily by using the card to do your normal spending and maximizing the bonuses during the matching quarters.

I probably should've called WF before posting *forehead slap* because they accept any CC for payments. But I did clarify that a WF card would not qualify for any rewards for auto loan payments because payments are not purchases.

I'm off to look at Chase Freedom.

According to the Jewel-Osco website, it is Shell gas here. There are no pumps at Jewel (at least not any that I’ve seen )

That’s likely the case. Albertsons didn’t have fuel at all before acquiring Safeway in 2015. They’ve been adding fuel since, but there are still regions and lots of stores without adjacent fuel stations. The rewards should work the same way at Shell. I typically use them at Chevron.

My closest (one minute away) Safeway has no gas, but the one by our Costco (six minutes away) does. But I stick with Costco most of the time because I don't buy enough at Safeway to get any decent rewards - usually shop there on holidays when Costco and Aldi and Trader Joes are closed!

Will they actually let you make a payment with a CC that counts as a purchase? I haven’t had a car loan for a long time but it seems like most folks here have to use Plastiq for payments like that.

The other day when I said I couldn't figure out how to input my Amex in a website it was for Spotify. I was at store yesterday and saw Spotify giftcards so I bought one thinking that is how I will get it on my Amex and get fuel points too. Bring it home and try to add it to account and I can't because we have the family plan and apparently in tiny print on the card it says you can't use for family plan. Grrrrrrr I don't get why they care what you use it for. It is money all the same, right?? So now I have a useless $60 giftcard. Maybe someone will get it as a graduation present.
I’m so sorry you’re stuck with the GC but thanks for sharing, because I was just about to pick one up now that the Quicksilver promo is ending.
