Paging @Albort with a Sheraton San Diego question... do you know/remember what coffee was in the room or lounge? I will fully admit I am a coffee snob :snooty:

starbucks. but i went about 2 weeks ago and their latte/cappuccino machine was down. :(
tis okay, if your willing to go out, there are a TON of good coffee places there. :]

Amex reduced this benefit to 35% back, right?

Yes. It was originally 50% back which was a 2 cent value and is now 35% back which is 1.54 cent value. I was thinking faster than texting and left out the .02 and 35% parts. I edited. Thanks!

The IHG reprieve might have been short lived :duck:(I hope for those who just got it this gets straightened out for the better!) From DoC
Update: Now the same reps on Twitter are saying it is restricted even for those who applied 1/1/18 until 4/5/18. Let me escalate it and get a real answer.

This is ridiculous. Geez Chase - just do the right thing and avoid all this negative publicity.

This is the key I think. I'm working on culling my programs/cards/points now. I think it's better for focus on two or three programs solely. That was a noob mistake I made years ago: collecting points in too many programs, but not in big enough buckets for ease of use.

These days I'm all MR/Delta and Hilton.

I am an opportunistic hoarder but do keep focus on a handful of programs. I will switch focus when I start running low in one or another.

interesting combination. currently 52% UR, 25% SPG and 12% TYP. rest are randomized.

Of course all points aren't created equal, but point for point my distribution looks like:

38% UR, 11% MR, 9% SPG, 29% UA, 13% HA.

I'm a little shocked at the points I've accumulated.

Mine are far more spread out. Between DH and I we are currently sitting at over 4 million points across the board. I'm kinda shocked at that number. I decided to see what our percentages looked like and went with just balances with over 100K points or more to simplify.

5% SPG, 14% UR, 10% MR, 6% Club Carlson, 17% IHG, 3% Marriott, 17% Hilton, 12% AA, 6% UA, 9% BA

That's even better... I mostly do Starbucks at home because of the reward program and the lack of local places...
Isn't it Starbucks in most Sheratons? Or just in the ones I go to?

Pretty sure Starbucks is chain-wide. The Sheraton Anaheim served Pepsi in their fountains too.
Good to know. My vast SPG hotel experience is the Dolphin (Starbucks) and the Four Points LAX (not sure what, but passable). Maybe snobby isn't the right word for my coffee drinking... I'm just not a fan of the really cheap stuff they put in hotels sometimes so I take Starbucks VIA packets... I can't do Folgers, etc either. I also travel with my own creamer...

You have not met snobby until you’ve met my husband. He roasts and grinds his own coffee beans daily. When we were in China for over 2 weeks, he roasted/ground a bunch of beans and brought that with a travel size French press. :sad2: He tolerates Starbucks for a short weekend, but he doesn’t like it. We usually try to find out what kind of coffee pot is in the hotel so he can bring his own.

haha, ive been visiting local coffee shops. they have some pretty bomb coffee... i went through a whole foods coffee phase too lol.

It will never make sense to book the higher fare on points. On a more expensive WGA the spread won't be as much but in many instances the higher fare classes will still cost 2x or 3x as many points as a WGA (i.e. 9,345 WGA; 30,894 Anytime; 33,143 BizSelect).

I had to ponder this all day. Clearly I was misreading and then finally figured out the missing piece...cash flight price. hahahah! what a ding dong! I couldn't figure out why in the world SW was going to make all 3 classes nearly the same amount of points. LOL...well that would've been great though.

It's ok :) - there's a lot of layers to how this pricing works so it can definitely be confusing to even those that are very familiar with their redemption formulas. I had to check my math multiple times on some of the posts I made today in various forums.

You sound like me :D I don't consider myself a coffee 'snob'...that title definitely goes to someone like @CyndiLouWho's dh who grinds his beans daily (that is my step-dad!!)...But a good cup of coffee is super important to my day. I do take my own coffee, creamer and I've been known to take my Keurig if I don't like what is probably lurking in the room under the 'guise' of coffee. It's just that big of a deal to me. I also don't like having to hunt down coffee. I need it quickly so if there isn't a good coffee shop in the hotel or right outside, I take my mini Keurig. Drives my dh crazy but without good coffee, I'll be even crazier lol!

Argh. Let me be the first data point of someone who was denied for the change from 60000 to 80000 on the IHG card. I sent a follow up message, but now I’m thinking I should have tried a completely new secure message for a new agent. Unless they keep track of this in our files. “We already denied ctinct the 80000 points, so no matter how much she grovels, whines , and complains, don’t let her have it!” This on top of the devaluation of the free night after my approval is leaving me with a very bad taste in my mouth. Sad this morning.

This is me too but focusing solely on Chase. Though trying to figure out what to do with that IHG card...
