I love credit cards so much!

Wow - that’s some great detail you provided :) I think all of what you discussed sounds good - probably just depends on figuring out which benefits you most. CIP referral is a great plan - SW CP is good especially if you have good use for it later this year. SPG is probably not a bad choice and some CF/CFU back and forth referrals is an easy way to generate some URs with easy to hit min spends. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. You probably can’t go wrong, haha!

Thanks! I think we will have a few flights later this year but not in stone yet. How long should one wait btwn chase business apps for their "business?"

And can I PC my CSP to another freedom?

I’d probably be trying to put 3 months between all my Chase apps these days if you can manage it. It will keep you off their radar.

You can PC a CSP to Freedom. That’s how I ended up with 2 of them :)

Just finished looking up all our info in detail. Trying to decide what comes next for us both. We will have tuition due for DDs summer courses soon, plus fall semester is just around the corner, so those are 2 big charges that will help meet MSRs.

I am waffling on the CP for me. Mine exp'd 12/17. I could get one now if I cancel/reopen my SWPr and do a SW biz card. Or I could wait b/c I can churn my plus in late July with a Biz or Premier. I am a bit nervous to try for a Biz soon since I just got a CIP in Jan. That has me leaning towards waiting for late 2018 so my points/CP hit in 2019 and I don't have to churn my premier. I have had it since early 2012 so it is only of my older cards.

DH will need to go for the CP for 2019 again as well. His expires 12/18.

All this talk of SPG going away makes me consider a personal to top off my points I am working on with the biz.

I always love URs, of course. Can never have too many of those.

Here is where we are:

ME: 2/24 until late may then 1/24

CF 7/2008

Citi TY 5/2010
Disney Visa 9/2010
Citi Costco 10/2011
SWPr 3/2012
Care Credit 4/2012 (haven't used since then)
CFU 3/2016 (closed- stupid....pre churning...sigh)
SWPl 5/2016 (closed)
CSP 6/2017..........PC in June???? CF or CFU???
CIP 1/2018
SPG Biz 3/2018

DH: 2/24 until 6/2019

Amex Everyday 2008
Citi TYP 2010
CSR 2/2016
SWPr 6/2017
SWPl 9/2017

So we are both fairly wide open. I am considering referring DH to the CIP. Also thinking about the CF/CFU referral thing we discussed last week. He has almost renewed hilton diamond for the year. Need 10 more stays, so probably 6 weeks. After that we will switch him over to Marriotts/Starwoods I think to get some points/status accruing/diversifying. So maybe I should have him do a SPG of some sort. Or he could just charge to my SPG account. He is the one traveling all the time though, so he'd like status. Main thing is just keeping him open for the CP in 12/18.

Any suggestions?

CIP for your dh would be top of my list. I also love UR's and am always looking for ways to get more of those :) Also big fan of SW points so going for the CP makes sense if you have some good use for it.

Can you go ahead and PC the CSP? I did before a year but not sure if they are still allowing that, or if you can just do it by calling. I recommend the CF over the CFU.

I am a little annoyed with myself right now. I went to riteaid to pick up a few things. The cashier asked me if I wanted to use my points. I thought she meant Plenti points. I pressed YES without reading. I used 2,051 AMEX points to pay for a $14 and change purchase.

Is there a way to set my Amex account so I cannot use points for everyday purchases?

I just called Amex. They reinstated my points. :)

I really want all those points from CIP too! I think thats what I will get him first. As far as my CSP, I will give them a call and see. I want to have 2 for the 5x promo q2. Will be easy to hit!

you can. you MAY need to take an extra step though, from CSP--> CFU --> CF. but it should go CSP --> CF just fine.
As for your previous question, it varies on what your 1x non category card u tend to swipe. If you find yourself swiping often(instead of like, say SPG card), then it could be a good idea to get a CFU.

...I feel like I read this on Reddit yesterday... and someone was speculating maybe the bonuses would go back up because the referral expiration was like Aug 2018 or something...
Yep, I went back to find it and add a link here but on re-reading the poster was referencing the biz card and I believe they messed up their notes anyway. Their case was the referral date had changed from oct exp up to apr exp for the 25k offer on spg biz but my notes had it as an apr date. They speculated this could mean a higher offer is coming on the card after apr. Maybe, who am I to say? But, I am not sold on their speculation this means a higher sign up is coming because op was referencing the biz not the personal, the biz just had a higher sign up, and the personal spg card is considered likely to die.

Has anyone heard any more about this? I've read that it's targeted and I've also read people are thinking it might be anyone who has CSR, CSP, CF and CFU. I'd like to think DH and I could make a few extra points with this promotion.

I'm still behind on the thread, so apologies if this has been covered in posts I haven't read yet, but I got the offer with respect to my CFU. I do have the trifecta of CSR, CFU and CF. DH has CSP, but since that's separate, I would say that has nothing to do with my getting the Apple Pay offer on my CFU.

With all the discussion again about the spg and marriott cards I went back to read the original press release. Of note

"Marriott expects to introduce new, co-brand products starting in 2018 with enhanced member benefits – super-premium consumer and small business co-branded products from American Express and mass consumer and premium consumer co-branded products from JPMorgan Chase. Additional details on the future products will be shared in 2018. In the meantime, both companies will retain their existing portfolio of accounts and continue to offer their current products." Full statement: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...gan-chase-and-american-express-300566733.html

Amex: super-premium consumer & small biz
Chase: mass consumer & premium consumer

So my TOTAL speculation on this is... "Super-premium" consumer is definitely not the current spg personal card. At least in my book that screams "mass consumer" so that should disappear as Chase gets to take it over (maybe it's "premium" consumer? but it's definitely not "super-premium"!), I see no way the spg personal lives with Amex. SPG Biz could stay as it is or be converted over to the new card, whatever Amex decides they want to do because that is still their market in the agreement. Chase Marriott biz obviously dead as they have no biz market in the agreement. Idk Chase Marriott consumer products as I've never looked into them.

Final q is will this happen boom, overnight or will there be rumors and end-dates announced and such? That's a q for you churner vets out there who've seen this sort of thing before!

Oh, I got it now. It was more of a problem finding ways to get where she wanted to go. I thought flights were costing more than 130K!
You all keep quoting cheap SWA fares.... but let me tell you if you're flying somewhere at the peak season,it can get pricey! I just used for our upcoming trip 35k points per person to get to Orlando on Spring Break..... for a family of 4 thatsalottapoints!!! (fwiw,I usually pay about 5-8k each way off season) so it can happen. It caught my bro by surprise that's for sure(he can't say I didn't warn him lol) he figured he;d have enough for r/t for his fam, nope! he got at least one way on points tho so I did save him some cash.....(flights are at least 375 pp one way last I looked)

I got it too, I just have the CSR. Has anyone else enabled ApplePay but never used it? Was thinking maybe that was it...

Nope. I use Apple Pay in my work cafeteria, usually twice a day (latte mid-morning and then lunch), and have been using it for months, and I got the offer on my CFU. I haven't been using the CFU much lately given MSR on recent cards, so maybe it's an incentive to get me to use CFU again?

I've got $50 in BB to take in, and 4 of the Lowe's Amex offers.

ETA: I probably phrased that silly, I don't usually sit on more than $50ish for more than a couple weeks.
Gotcha! I was a little surprised a seasoned vet like you would sit on $300 that needed converting so this makes a LOT more sense :) As for using Lowe's for Disney are you interested in any of their other gift cards? We actually used that offer for Raley's gift cards instead of Disney figuring we average 10% off Disney in general (and have a long time to snag deals) so we'd maximize our overall budget savings by buying something we can't usually get for at least 10% off. Raley's fit that bill for us.

"seasoned vet" :rotfl: since I've been doing credit cards and swagbucks and discounted Disney GCs for a whole 18 months. I do actually have $100 in Target right now too, but I'm okay waiting a bit to see how that shakes out since I can use it for groceries or other things.

I'll have to check out what else Lowe's has... I haven't been in there since the last Amex offer :rolleyes1 This offer is $10 of $50, so 20% right? I've been very scatterbrained the last few weeks.

:D Whenever I make a statement like I did, about "some people" a little voice inside me says "OMG, I hope *I'M* not that person!!"

Sayhello

For those who have Chase business and personal accounts do you have one online account or two? I just got the CIP, how do I either open a separate online account or merge it with my personal one? I've had a personal online account with Chase for so long I don't remember if I had to initiate it or wait for them.

I did 2 separate because the business site was awful. They made some changes now so it is better, but still not as easy as the personal site:

DH has his combined, and I decided to keep mine separate. I do think the business site is bad, but one advantage of combined is that you can bring it up on the app and have all your accounts together.

heh, i must have been so used to the old design, i hate the new one. haha.
@eeyoresmom i have mine combined.

I've kept our personal and biz cards with Chase separate, so we now have four separate Chase online accounts: one personal and one biz for me and one personal and one biz for DH. I don't think I'd like the personal and biz combined if that means defaulting to the biz site.

thatsalottapoints!!!
:offtopic: now I want a handle of thatsalottapoints!!! to use somewhere lol

:) hear you on being scatterbrained, I shredded a debit card I was just about to walk out the door with to use for a deal earlier this week! Yes, your math is solid, it's a 20% savings!
