Thanks for the responses. That makes sense now why I've been seeing many post about transferring ur. Why do you need to apply in branch? Is there a benefit vs just applying online for the CIP?

Applying online, you're applying for the public offer -- 80k UR for the CIP.

Occasionally, Chase has in-branch promotions that give higher signup bonuses when you apply for certain cards through a Business Relationship Manager (BRM), Chase Private Client, or a Chase banker. Chase had a promotion recently, which I think ended on 8/27, where you could get a 100k UR signup bonus on the CIP if you applied through a BRM. There was some talk that the Chase Ink Cash also had a higher 50k UR or $500 signup bonus through a BRM until 8/27, too (regular offer is $300 cash back).

A lot of people avoid applying in person/branch because that involves an actual banker taking down their info for the application and possibly asking pointed questions about their business and finances, which can get uncomfortable if they only have a less than formal "business." Applying online is more anonymous, and most times you never have to deal with a human.

Since you said you have two actual businesses, you may want to talk to a Chase banker to see what kind of better offers they may have on their cards in branch. See if the higher offers on the CIP and CIC are still good. And since you have two businesses, you even have an argument to get both the CIP and CIC since they each have different benefits.

Thanks for taking the time to write all of this out. Despite the excellent instructions, I managed to mess it up (I think) - I didn't realize that I had used a different email account for twitter than Marriott until I had already linked the twitter account to the Marriott rewards number. I did get some bonus points - 250 points for something and 125 points for something else - but I'm not sure I got (or more importantly, will get in the future) the 50 points for posting the tweet. Which did post, so that part works. If the 50 points don't post for the next few days, I suppose I will call Marriott rewards and see what might be done to fix it.

Are you still not getting the points? I set mine up 3 days ago and it's posting correctly, but the points are not showing up. I contacted Marriott Rewards via Twitter. They said my account is correctly connected and that points are not always immediate and can take 7 days to 6 weeks to post. I hope they post sooner than later so that I know it's working correctly.

@calypso726 Don't you live in South FL? Everything ok for you guys from Irma? You may have posted about your situation but since we just got home and I haven't been on much, I just wanted to check on you.

i get the feeling that that shes probably got no power and internet... :\ Hopefully once its back up, she will comment!

also to add to this, going through BRM would also get u around the 5/24 rule...

You are probably right, Albort. Hope she is ok. All my family is in the area hit hard by Harvey, and I grew up with hurricanes, so I know just how bad these things can be. My heart goes out to all being affected by this storm.

@wendow @Albort - Hi! I'm checking in and thanks for thinking of me. Lost power last night and still am without power. Endless tornado warnings and I have spent the last 24 hours diving in and out of the closet. I may have an identity crisis when this is over and am wondering what card has bonus points for therapy sessions. Despite setting up blankets and pillows in the closet I have received no owls inviting me to Hogwarts either. I'm so crushed. Oh, I also discovered that cold instant coffee one year past expiration tastes like the poop emoji. We've managed to consume mustard that is 2 years past expiration and pasta that expired over 7 years ago. If Irma doesn't do us in, food poisoning might. Just kidding, I'm not worried about expiration dates. The people on The Walking Dead don't, so why should I. We clearly don't go through groceries often enough to benefit greatly from that bonus category. Not seeing an Amex blue Preferred in my future. More reasons to love the CSR and 3x dining bonus! Ok, so I've checked in and kept it on topic. Sort of ;-)

First rate humor during a crisis. No wonder we all like you so much! Seriously though, stay safe and in this case, don't try the grey stuff! I hope things return to relative normal ASAP.

LOL, you have kept your sense of humor :) Glad you are ok despite diving in and out of the closet! Even hot instant coffee tastes like poop to me...not that I am completely sure of that taste...so I can only imagine old, cold instant coffee :shudder: Seriously, when we were not sure we would get out of Orlando, and whether we would be stuck at a shelter, the airport or Disney, my main concern was how I would get coffee. More than my family's safety, I was worried about coffee. Maybe I need to find a card with bonus points for therapy too...

glad to hear from ya. I thank the churning gods for keeping our little churning wizard safe! :]

If you're planning on doing a referral and SMing Chase to match the 60k offer by 10/1, you might not want to wait till the last day (10/1) to do it.

I'd typically suggest waiting until 10/1 to apply to give as much time to hit the minimum spend in 2018 and have the 60k points post in 2018, giving you the CP through 2019. (DPs report you have anywhere from 90 to 115 days from approval to meet spend.) Since if you apply under the 60k offer, it's attached to your application; and as long as you apply by the deadline, you qualify for the 60k offer even if you're not approved until after the offer expires.

But if you (or your DD) are applying through a referral link that has a 40k offer attached, you'll need to get the card(s) approved while the 60k offer is still going (on or before 10/1) so you can SM Chase to match the current (60k) offer. Fingers crossed you (or your DD) get auto-approved, but you may have to be prepared to talk to Chase recon (e.g., move around credit, or verify identity), and 10/1 is a Sunday so the recon dept. may be closed.
A tight window for sure, I think I will have her apply the week before. Chase seems to be pretty generous with the spend timeline. Thanks for helping me break it down.

Welcome back, I am amazed you were able to switch your flight. Were the airlines adding flights out?

Thank you :)

I am not aware of any added flights. We changed our flight last Tuesday. My family has been hit hard by Harvey and were all worried sick about us. My aunt started telling me last Monday that we needed to consider getting out of Orlando on Friday. I, of course, wanted to not lose too much of our time so I found a flight Saturday afternoon and just hoped for the best. Had we waited even until Wednesday to call and make the change, I don't think we could have all gotten on the same flight. Iirc, my aunt checked the fights late on Wednesday and everything on Friday was sold out and on Saturday, there was only 1 seat left for the entire day.

Btw, I've never, ever seen an airport like MCO was yesterday. Just utter chaos and so, so, so many people. We almost missed our flight despite Disney getting us there as early as they do. It's truly a miracle we got out.

Glad your aunt started pushing that button when she did! So sorry to hear about your family. Our nephew, his wife and 3 boys (all under the age of 4) were supposed to fly down Thursday for a 10 day stay at WDW and Vero Beach, luckily there was ample warning and they canceled.

so I finally popped for the CIP, go the dreaded we need to evaluate further message. I think I may be at 5/24 because my Jcpenny card is listed as just having gotten even thou it's really a transfer from their store card, so does anyone know if it's worth it to call and see if that's what the hold up is or should I just wait it out?, also on my other chase cards online I can see a spot now where I can check what my application are doing, does the business end have this, I couldn't find it any where

Thanks for the info. I'll stop in the branch and check it out. Never been in one before and have just dealt with chase all online or on the phone. So I guess I'm due to go in person after 8 years of being a customer. Maybe they will have a better offer :-) figure I'd just apply for the cip that way I can change the card next year to the cash instead of cancelling the card. If business cards don't count towards the 5/24 then I have only used 1/24 so not worried there. Thanks I'll let you know what I find out.

I'll add that if you don't find a higher offer in-branch right now, but you apply for the CIP (or CIC) with a BRM anyway -- IF there is a higher in-branch promotion in the next 90 days following approval, you can send a secure message to Chase to ask them to match the higher offer. Likely, they'll want to know that you applied in-branch with a BRM to qualify for a match. If you turn around, go home and apply online, you likely won't be qualified to match with any later higher in-branch offer.

Citi matched my AABusiness card from 60K to 75K on my first SM! Definitely try if you're still in the 90 window. (Also reports on DoC I think that personal has a 75K offer as well.)

Do you recall your wording? I'd love to try on DH's card.

Another win, I submitted DH's CIP application on Friday night, called the automated line this morning and he was approved. Which number do I need to call to have the card expedited?

Congratulations! To expedite, try CIP's customer service line: 1-800-945-2028.
