I love credit cards so much!

A question about purchasing airfare. DH is attending a work event so this will be reimbursed. Flights will be on American Airlines - should we (he, technically, but really me because he would just pick whichever card is handy) use the CSR or the Citi AA Business Platinum card? Not checking a bag but wondering if there are any other perks to using the AA card?
Is he allowed to use his AA account? If he gets Miles already by using his AA number when he books, then he gets free bag whether or not he uses the AA card. I would use CSR for the 3x points.

Had some busy days so I just sat down and did the app for SW Business card. Said up to 30 days to review my application. Fingers crossed!

He does get the miles for his AA account. The CSR seems to make the most sense to me -- 3x UR points compared to 2x for the AA card, and CSR points are more versatile. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something.

That's interesting about getting the checked bag even without using the card - he won't check anything anyway but that's good to know for future reference.

I know there has been some talk about Vegas here. But just wondering which CC works best with Hotels in Vegas, right on the Strip. And I'm looking at NYNY, Mandalay Bay or Mirage specifically. Or just any of the other Vegas on Strip hotels...

We are looking at the Mandalay Bay and Mirage also. The "water park" at Mandalay looks awesome but it is at the end of the Strip so everything else is so far away. The Mirage pool looks nice and it is more centrally located. The pool is important to us since we are taking DS10 with us. I was looking to book via Expedia since they are offering a $50 food credit using my CSR to get the 3x for travel.

Epic fail here. DH (me) applied for CSP last week. Denied for too many accounts in past 2 years. I thought he was 3/24 but forget he was AU for 2 of my cards. I added him before I was aware of 5/24 rule. So I removed him as AU.
Should he wait 30 days & reapply?

He can call recon and tell them the AU accounts have been closed. In most cases they are willing to waive the AU accounts, anyway.

Mandalay Bay and Mirage are both part of the Hyatt Brand. You can get those rooms for 20k points if you dont want to spend points. seems a bit expensive to use points though.

Thanks. This is a totally out of blue trip so I'm fine with just paying for the hotel OOO. DS watched Bolt and it had something about Vegas in it and suggested lets go there for Memorial Day weekend.

That is the reason we are looking at Mirage as well. Love that pool.

You have to have the Hyatt cc for this?

This is where I will pay OOP and use the Amex Platinum Fine Resort and hotels benefit. We've stayed at both the Bellagio and the Wynn and found that the perks and benefits wound up exceeding the cost benefit analysis of using points for us. Currently, the Wynn, Bellagio, Mandarin Oriental and Palazzo are offering a 4th night free with Amex FHR. Each one is listed as being located on the strip, they are also offering daily breakfast credits for 2 (this alone wound up being worth over $320 on our last trip) a $100 spa credit, complimentary upgrade, noon check in and 4 pm check out.

u could transfer UR points to Hyatt. It might not be worth the points though. i see Mirage and Mandalay at 20k points. its not worth it on weekdays, perhaps on weekend it does. I didnt check. if the room is over $200, then its worth the points, if below $200, its not worth redeeming. but if ur really want to go for free, its an option.

i bet the prestige will do the same thing too!

I know Prestige does 4th night free, sort of. After July 23rd they will stop doing 4th night free and it will be the average of each night stay and discount that amount for one night not including taxes and fees. When we last compared using the Amex FHR vs Prestige we went with the Amex because the Prestige did not include breakfast for 2, upgrade, spa credit, early/late check in/out. When all was said and done we wound up coming out ahead using the Amex FHR vs the Prestige.
