I love credit cards so much!

Do you bank with Chase for checking or savings? Have a mortgage through them? I'd like to have my dh apply in the bank too but we have no relationship with them other than credit cards. I've never even stepped foot in a branch.

No, we have no relationship at all with Chase other than my CSR I got in January. He isn't an authorized user on mine either. I wasn't sure what to expect because of that, but it was super easy. We had a very friendly manager helping us. She actually said she's never done an app for the CSR before so this was a first for her. During the process she did ask if we had any accounts with them, but when we said no it wasn't a problem. He gave her all the info needed and had him sign off. I was expecting delayed approval since it's Saturday, but she said he was approved with a $30K CL and we should expect his card in 5 to 7 days. Winning!! LOL

Edit - We had never stepped foot in branch before today as well. When we walked in, we went to a teller and asked how to go about applying for a credit card in branch. She directed us to speak with the manager sitting at a desk near by. All in all, it was a very painless process. We made lots of small talk with the manager. Disney came up and she told us she's a Disney addict and a DVC member so we talked about that for a while, even after the credit card approval was complete.

I didn't mention it, but would have if thw manager wouldn't have. Just before she started asking DH for his application info, she grabbed a big laminated sheet to show us the info on the card. It had all their cards on it, with the CSR last to the right. The first bullet point was the 100K sign up bonus after $4K spend.

I'm pretty sure that the website credit karma has been mentioned here - can someone explain how credit karma gets access to credit reports? If I understand correctly, I can sign up for credit karma and see my credit reports, but I'm confused about how credit karma can access them all the time when I only get one free report per year . . .

Does anyone know if purchasing annual passes through Disney's website will get me 3X points for Chase Reserve? I would have thought so, but I was surprised when I prepaid for Dessert Party and got only 1X points (would have thought restaurant category). Thanks.

I doubt it. I had the same assumption with dessert party & I PMd them. They said Visa codes it as Direct Merchant. I know other tickets I purchased directly from Disney (Halloween party) also earned 1x points.

I believe purchasing APs from Disney directly will code as theme parks or entertainment. You could set up a Disney Vacation Account to use to buy your APs and fund that account with your CSR. DVA codes as 3x travel and even qualifies for the CSR's $300 travel credit.

You can also buy tickets through Orbitz and then upgrade to Annual pass. Orbitz tickets qualify for 3x points and can use CSR and get $300 travel credit.

I see that our Chase 100,000 points are there plus an extra 6,000 for misc spending. How do I see how many points they awarded per place? I want to make sure my restaurants are showing up as 3 points etc. can someone tell me how to see that?

When I look at my activity on Chase there is a link below each transaction I can click to see additional details. That shows me how many points were awarded on each transaction.

Theres 2 ways of checking.
1) Account Activity, once you are in, ther should be a + symbol in front of every sale. click on it. It will show the Rewards earned.

2) click into Ultimate rewards, choose your card, and account activity.

So today DH got a "preapproved" CC offer for the Citi business American Airlines card. 60k mile signup bonus. Very specific, even showing DH current AA mile total & how much it would be with the 60 k bonus.

We don't have a business. Can DH still apply to this targeted offer? We have a "sort of" rental property (long story). could that count as a business or do you need a legit business with tax ID number, etc?

I'd call that a business and no you don't need a tax ID number. If you apply as the sole proprietor then use your social security number.

I'd skip the business card and sign up for the personal one. I did the offer for 50,000 miles and 2 and a half months into meeting my minimum spend people started getting 60,000 offers. I sent a secure message to Citi asking them to match the 60,000 offer that others had received and they credited my account 10,000 miles. They said yes because I was still within my 3 month bonus window. People have an almost 100% success rate getting Citi AA to match offers. (I say almost because while I have yet to see someone who didn't get matched, sometimes it does take a couple messages but everyone eventually gets matched.)

We actually both already have the personal AA card.

That's such a bummer :( but better safe than sorry and all. China is an amazing country to visit (I studied abroad in Beijing in college- I'm admittedly biased) so I really hope you make it there, even if it's a ways into the future. Mile devaluations can happen fast, personally I wouldn't save up miles this far out unless you need to. But I wouldn't leave the game! Pick some places you'd like to see domestically and go there on miles for now and then start saving for China again in a couple years.

DS was adopted from China, so we've been there. Loved it. But even though DS is a US citizen and has a US passport current relations are too volatile for me. We want DS to see Beijing, Great Wall, Xian, etc, so it will be a big trip. Was hoping to be able to do it a few times before he is 18, but now is not our time.
