I love credit cards so much!

DS was adopted from China, so we've been there. Loved it. But even though DS is a US citizen and has a US passport current relations are too volatile for me.

Have you thought about going for the Southwest Companion Pass and traveling around the US? That's what we're focussing on for the next couple of years for the same reason. I'm glad we went to England to spend some time with friends before the inauguration because I don't think we'll be heading back again any time soon.

That's such a bummer :( but better safe than sorry and all. China is an amazing country to visit (I studied abroad in Beijing in college- I'm admittedly biased) so I really hope you make it there, even if it's a ways into the future. Mile devaluations can happen fast, personally I wouldn't save up miles this far out unless you need to. But I wouldn't leave the game! Pick some places you'd like to see domestically and go there on miles for now and then start saving for China again in a couple years.

@gottalovepluto I feel your pain. I have two young adult kids living abroad now (one in Taiwan) and they both have visited countries that are likely to get them scrutinized by our government (Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain . . .).

I'm looking on the chase ur site trying to see where I can redeem points for hotels in Orlando. Are there any Disney properties besides the Swan that I'm missing? And is there any way to redeem points toward a Disney cruise?

I know I have seen Art of Animation on the UR site. To book a Disney Cruise with UR points you have to call their cruise booking phone number.

I found several of the Disney resorts on the UR site. There were lots of values, moderates and deluxe that came up when I searched. Someone on this thread suggested to filter by attraction and select Disney World. That's how I got them to come up. Sorry, I don't recall exactly who it was who suggested this.

I guess im one of those point hoarders(post must have gotten deleted). Im currently in school so travelling is hard to do as i dont have much time to travel. Started September 2015 with a CSP, has currently 250k UR, 60k TY, with 100k UR coming in with my CSR. Ive only used points where it makes sense to me though. If the points dont come out ahead, i just use my travel cards.

i do think its better to use these points on hotels and plane ticket upgrades... Looking at air tickets dont seem worth using points imo. trips to asia(i travel to Taiwan once/twice a year to get fat basically ;) ) are cheap, not worth using points.

Nice stash! I agree, the points do have to be worth using. If an airline ticket is $600 or 90,000 miles then I'd rather pay for the ticket, earn points on the card and butt in seat miles for the flight. I think the lowest value we've ever gotten out of our UR points was 1.5 recently for flights on Delta to Iceland. Delta wanted 350,000 Sky Pesos per person :rotfl2:in real money the flights in first were a little over $2800 per person. We wound up purchasing the flights through the UR travel portal for a little over 187,000 UP points per person. That was the first time I'd used UR point to purchase a ticket rather than transfer to an airline. So we will still earn butt in seat miles. The only good thing about Sky Pesos is that they don't expire so I don't mind hoarding them until I have use for them.

On the UR site there are lots of onsite hotels at Disney and Universal, depending on your dates. You can input a specific name in the top left box to search....if nothing is there for your dates, nothing will show.

Fingers crossed! We decided to go for the SW companion pass by getting the SW business premier and the SW premier. My DH applied for the business card last week (he's under the 5/24...I'm not). I had him call recon and I got an email yesterday welcoming him to his new card. My concern is the email says nothing about it being the business card. I applied for that one first and we do have a legit business(rental property). The card is not listed on his Chase page yet. I hope nothing is goofed up.

A business card won't show up on his personal card main page. He'll have to set up a different login profile and password and if he wants all the cards on one page, he'll have to call Chase IT and they can merge the two profiles into the business profile.....the current personal profile will become nonexistent. Enjoy your CP!

Thanks for the info!! So it not being on his home page is a great sign!

On another note, I called last week to downgrade my CSP to Freedom after my first year was up. Today, an annual fee of $95 posted. The first person I spoke with said the fee could not be refunded. I questioned it and was transferred to someone on the Sapphire side and was told it would be refunded. It pays to have know what you should be getting or not getting charged for!

I am still unsure when the best time to downgrade is. We opened our CSP last April. Is it still too early to downgrade? Would love to avoid having to call and make sure I get refunded the AF.

I'll tell you what my experience was. I called in December and was told I couldn't downgrade until Jan because that would be 12 mos for my CSP. I was told that the CSR had to stay open for a full year and to call back in Jan. I called in early Jan and was told I had to wait until Jan 31. I called the morning of Jan 31. My annual feel charge posted 2/2.
Not sure if this consistent or not with other's experiences.

You can use Citi TY points to pay for Disney cruise.

Planning my card strategy for the next 6 months. I plan to open the Hyatt card since it's not under 5/24. Using it to book 2 nights at the Park Hyatt Toronto in June 2018. Will then transfer 30,000 UR to book the remaining 2 nights. Will book my flights on Air Canada by using 60,000 MR points (15,000 round trip times four). We went to Toronto last year and really enjoyed it but only stayed one night since it was a side trip for our Niagara Falls vacation. I may also book a side trip to Quebec City from Toronto since it's not that far. We won't be able to do it this year, although we are spending 4 days in Montreal for spring break. Best part, Toronto is only a hour and a half flight from Philly. My hubby is deathly afraid of flying so the shorter the flight, the better.

I plan to close 3 cards, 2 are AMEX with annual fees. May need to open the AMEX ED to keep my MR points active. Will try to get a retention offer for the PRG so I can keep it. Platinum is getting closed as we don't really book flights that much. Also closing the Fairmont card this year. I DO plan to keep my CSR as I see the benefit in it despite the high annual fee.

For what it's worth... "According to multiple readers and comments on this [reddit] post that has changed effective immediately and cardholders will have a period of 30 days to cancel their card and request an annual fee refund after it has been billed." (http://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-makes-no-notice-change-annual-fee-refund-policy/)

ive only done one redemption, 15k for a room at the Hyatt. the room was advertised @ $270 a night. Win Win for me there. Also gave up 15k TY points to let me mom fly first class on Eva as well. 35k points from premium economy to first class is also worth it.

it depends on what u mean by nonexistent. My personal profile is still there, i can still log in but it just wont show the business side. I believe it will always be there.

I SM them to downgrade my CSP to a Freedom Unlimited after my year is up. You dont even need to call. haha. There is a trick where u PC your CSP to a CS then to a Freedom before your year is up, but its YMMV.
