DS was adopted from China, so we've been there. Loved it. But even though DS is a US citizen and has a US passport current relations are too volatile for me.
Have you thought about going for the Southwest Companion Pass and traveling around the US? That's what we're focussing on for the next couple of years for the same reason. I'm glad we went to England to spend some time with friends before the inauguration because I don't think we'll be heading back again any time soon.
but better safe than sorry and all. China is an amazing country to visit (I studied abroad in Beijing in college- I'm admittedly biased) so I really hope you make it there, even if it's a ways into the future. Mile devaluations can happen fast, personally I wouldn't save up miles this far out unless you need to. But I wouldn't leave the game! Pick some places you'd like to see domestically and go there on miles for now and then start saving for China again in a couple years.
) are cheap, not worth using points.
in real money the flights in first were a little over $2800 per person. We wound up purchasing the flights through the UR travel portal for a little over 187,000 UP points per person. That was the first time I'd used UR point to purchase a ticket rather than transfer to an airline. So we will still earn butt in seat miles. The only good thing about Sky Pesos is that they don't expire so I don't mind hoarding them until I have use for them.
