I know people double dip with Sapphires but what about one of these and a Sapphire?

it works too, but like what @SouthFayetteFan said, the double dipping is to get around the 1 Sapphire Card only.
you could also do one sapphire and one other card assuming your at 4/24. i believe the HP get combined too.

There's no real reason to double dip a CIC and CIP or one of these with a Sapphire. The ONLY reason you have to double dip the Sapphires is because of the 1/24 "family" bonus rule which currently applies only to those 2 cards.

But if I'm at 4/24 and go for a Sapphire I would have to wait to get the business card...?

yes, u need to be below 5/24 to get a Chase business card. Apply for the business card first as that does not count against your 5/24. then apply for Sapphire.
If you go the other way around, u wont get approval of the business card.

fyi, I put a little note in our discussion group applicable to those who are active in r/churning but might have missed an announcement today.

Do we need to change our links on DISchurners also or is this just a r/churning thing?

Yes, get the business card first. You will still be at 4/24, then you could get one (or two) sapphires if you want. Or double dip a sapphire and another personal card for that last spot.

Thanks for that.

Thanks, but the only way I would consider paying off that balance now is if that was the only way I would be approved for new cards. And I don't think it is the case, or at least I hope not. I could pay it off right now but that's not what it's for and I'm not going to spend my money on it when I don't have to. (Long story but suffice it to say that it will be paid by someone else, not me, in the not too distant future.) It is not costing anything because it is on a 0% card. (I just need to move it to another one soon.) In the meantime, I am spending money every month and getting no travel benefit.

Generally, for most people, it's not recommend to get into churning if you are in CC debt. Mostly becuase no one wants to advise you to create more debt that you might not pay off and depending on the amount and your score, etc you may have trouble getting approved for cards.

However, I broke the rule. I do have old debt, 3 cards actually at pretty low rates thankfully and I decided to give it a go. I have not had an issue getting approvals. I have actually raised my score and I've been able to make a big dent in paying off my old cards. I never put anything on my new cards that can't be paid for in cash immediately. I broke a second rule by making my husband an AU on a card and in doing so I was able to get his score up (helped his debt to income ratio) which will help a lot when we finally purchase a house, hopefully this year. Our old debt was actually due to a house that turned into a money pit and we trusted our realtor when we probably shouldn't have, long story. Churning has allowed me to concentrate on the old cards, finally travel a bit and feel much less stressed. I have learned a lot and I'm better able to guide my children. I can't say it will be the same for everyone though and I take full responsibility for the decisions I make regarding CCs. I've had approvals for Southwest Plus and Premier, CSR, CSP, Ink Preferred and SPG Biz.

So, churning while in CC debt isn't advised, but if you are diligent and stay on top of it, it can be done. It sounds like you have a plan and I think you won't have an issue with approvals based on the CC debt. I'm not advising you to proceed, just sharing my story so you can make your decision.

Now I'm going to go hang my head and hope I'm not banned and labeled a rule breaker ;)

Be gone @snugglebug !! Banned! Banned I say! LOL JK we aren't Reddit :) still love you!

I'm glad you have some experience with this to help @MinnieMay out. Not having any CC debt of my own I felt complete out of my league on what advice I should give after @MinnieMay explained their situation!

ETA: just re-read this and I'm not happy glad you have debt to deal with just glad our poster found someone else- gah! You know what I mean!

:cool1: Do you have the spg Biz? Am I right in recalling that I *might* get a free room upgrade if available with this card? (But I still have to stand in the 'regular' line, right?)
I have both SPG personal and biz. No upgrade. We got pretty much the worst view in the place. But Dolphin was fully booked to the point that I couldn’t add a day and even taking away a day required a call directly to Dolphin front desk as the regular booking line couldn't do it. The place was packed with a huge convention until Friday. Weekend seemed ok, more families, no suits.

Just got an email from someone in guest relations at the Fairfield I'm staying at next week thanking me for being Silver Elite (thank you SPG Biz!) and asking if there was anything they could note on my reservation for me. Gosh I feel cool I even emailed a room request back! This is fun!
