I love credit cards so much!

Even if the referral sign up for the bonus is coming in the form of a direct email to the person being referred?

It doesn’t matter to me either way but just curious.
Take a look at my edit. I had to send another email quick because I deleted the initial one from a week ago, lol. This Short shelf life is typical with these SPG offers.

Another day where this thread moves so fast...jeez guys work is busy right now I don’t have any time for fun stuff!

At any rate feel vaguely silly posting this so far after OP post, but wanted to make point. When I opened the Delta Amex Business for DH this fall the 70k offer was expiring the first week of November. BUT I emailed the referral link to myself and when I did so the email gave until January 31st for the offer to be open. Is it possible the SPG offer is the same way (emailed offer gives longer to accept)? I can’t check as don’t have card yet, but maybe someone who has one could see?!? I know me having a few more months before I took the offer helped. Of course then they just offered it again now, but such is my luck.

The T&C for the bonus states "If your application is not received by 03/28/2018, we will not process your application even if we later receive your application." so it sounds like a hard cutoff.

You said you needed to buy a load of Disney Gift Cards, right? PayPal Digital Gifts has a deal for Best Buy gift cards and savings codes, both of which can be used in store to buy Disney Gift Cards. The deal is buy one $100 Best Buy gift card and get an additional $10 savings code, limit 3, which works out to be a 9% discount before any credit card rewards. You'll get the Best Buy e-Gift card and savings code via email. I just open them up, take a screenshot of the barcode and PIN on my phone, open up my phone's photo album in Best Buy for the cashier to scan at checkout.

Unfortunately, Chase Ink cards no longer earn 3x/5x UR bonuses on PayPal Digital Gifts, and Amex may not count this purchase towards MSR or for points since you're buying gift cards. You also can't use eBay gift cards for third-party gift cards. Nor do you earn eBay Bucks or cash back from most (if not all) of the shopping portals for gift card purchases. So you'll have to decide which card is best to use if you want to take advantage of this deal.

Thanks for tagging me. I am on the fence now about DCL Alaska 2019 after seeing some pricing coming in. I thought I'd be safe in the shoulder season but even May prices jumped alot. I am debating NCL Bliss, RCCL Ovation and the Wonder. Ugh.

Thank goodness. It took a ridiculous amount of time for me to post links today! But its done - yay! Finally!

It takes me forever too.

This is me as well. DH is all in on DCL, doesn’t want anything else. I’m trying to convince him to look elsewhere.
For the same price as DCL can you get like super upgraded cabins on other lines? Idk having never cruised DCL, and having not cruised at all for over s decade actually, but with the set in their way men I know pictures are worth a thousand words :D

I have told him we’d get way more on other lines. Not sure why, but he/we love Disney and I think he’s set on the whole Disney vacation idea. We have never cruised at all, so maybe he thinks even if cruising sucks, he’ll at least like the Disney part. :rotfl2:

As long as he gets his Mickey Mouse picture Life Is Good. Considering on other cruise lines the goal is the photo with the showgirl this might not be so bad ;)

I can do DCL May, 2 connecting ocean views with my discount about $13k I am guessing...will have official number tomorrow. Shoulder season, no inside passage, no glacier bay, no verandah.

or NCL Bliss...brand new looks awesome...for about $12k 2 connecting verandah rooms, in peak season July, glacier bay. Also they throw in some free excursions and signature dining, etc. Leaves from Seattle which is easy for SW.

or RCCL Ovation...also newer ship at same $12k 2 connecting jr suites with verandah, peak season July, and inside passage. Leaves from Seattle.

I am guessing I could save alot doing RCCL or NCL in may, but I don't mind spending $12k for peak season. I'm not sure I want to spend it for shoulder season on DCL and not get the verandah or glacier bay/inside passage either.

Disney cruise line is my most favorite vacation....but I am torn on this one. Usually I am happy to throw money at the mouse.

Wow.

Totes :) We like DCL, we think they do have a superior product, however, for what we pay on DCL for a Balcony we could generally get a low level Suite on NCL. Which is why we are so totally not exclusive to DCL, although with the discounted gift cards it can level the playing field a little bit. I've come to realize recently that while DCL is quite pricey and don't do a lot of official discounts, it's actually a little easier to get discounts on DCL than other lines with the GC game. But then you have to decide if it's worth the work to discount DCL down to another line or just suck it up and "slum" it :P (while still having a good time and most likely seeing different/better scenery or itineraries)

Personally I like that there’s no casino. And DS would have stuff to do. I really wanted to check out Vancouver too. We met a family in China that lives outside Vancouver and it would be lovely to visit them also.

The Bliss looks nice, but too big. I see all those people getting off at port, competing for excursions, etc. or maybe I’m imagining things since I’ve never actually cruised before.

Not sure if you have cruised Alaska before, but to me, cruising Alaska and not going to Glacier Bay is like going to WDW and not going to MK. :sad2:

I have never cruised DCL, but have done NCL and RCCL many times. From our experience, from the age of 4 thru teens, our kids enjoyed the kids clubs on RCCL far more than NCL.

I an a DCL fanatic and we are going on our 9th cruise in a couple months, but for Alaska we did Celebrity. For about the same price or less we got 3 more nights, drink packages, and a bigger room. We had a great cruise. Alaska is all about the scenery and the stops so to me the cruise line isn't as important - although Celebrity was really nice. Same with the Med- we did NCL for that and got 2 bedroom concierge for the same price as a regular room on DCL. Since we had only one sea day and spent so much time off the ship, I didn't really have time for all the DCL shows and special magic touches anyway...

I like to do DCL in the Carribbean and not get off the ship...

BTW, paid for my entire upcoming cruise with DCL gift cards using various discounts and probably saved about 10-15%. Thanks for all the tips!! Love the DISboards!

I am ready to jump into this game. I feel the NEED to get started ASAP with a BONUS-earning card!! I have read enough to know that every charge or expense I pay now is an opportunity lost. It’s killing me, LOL. I believe I can meet the minimum spend by using my actual spending plus I am willing to get creative, where needed. I checked Credit Karma – DH and I both have 3 open CC accounts. Scores are ‘good’ but would improve by decreasing utilization. And opening more accounts (LOL).

Me (1/24- Chase Dis, 2/2017, AU); Citi Visa, owner, Credit Union Visa
DH (1/24-Chase Dis, 2/2017, Owner); Citi Visa, AU, Credit Union Visa

I want to open a 0% APR, $0 BTF card to transfer an existing balance that had a low rate but expired. We will make the new card 1 owner so the balance does not show on both reports.

Our DS wants to purchase an inexpensive used car as he just turned 16. We can get a low interest used auto loan from our credit union. Credit Karma said an auto loan will increase our credit score, LOL. Is that really true?

Travel Habits:

Lots of sports-related road trips throughout the year - hotel, food, gas expenses. (His teams seem to favor Marriott, but all are used. We have to stay where team stays).

Family road trips to Florida or Myrtle every year (visiting WDW, US, or SW/DC) plus shorter road trips when we can squeeze them in. We often take “extra” kids lol which is another reason why we drive.

Would love to fly if we can get free/cheap air fare. We often use rental cars.

Goals – 1) Save money on existing travel. 2) Build points for a BIG trip (Dis cruise or trip to Hawaii or Alaska).

Plan – ASAP
DH - get AMEX Everyday Credit Card (0%APR, $0 BTF, no AF) plus 15K point sign up bonus/or 25K if I can get the offer through” incognito mode,” whatever that is, then transfer our joint balance to him only. His utilization should remain the same or improve with overall CL increase. Mine will improve because balance no longer on my report.

Me – get the SPG biz card (if I can get it before 3-28). If not, then go for CIP Related Question – I can use AMEX to pay county real estate taxes with plastiq, correct?

NEXT - After meeting the minimum on first biz card, then start in on the CHASE cards. DH will be 2/24. I will remain 1/24.

Everyone - Please give me your honest thoughts, advice, critique, etc.
Can’t help with Amex but with the CIP and plastiq so far everything I’ve used it to pay loans and Mortage it’s been coding 3x. Just put a payment in for Wells Fargo I’ll update once it goes through.

Clicking around on the Chase site today and I came across "application status". Click the three bars on the left for the menu, scroll down to Explore Products, and "application status" was right after it. I don't have anything under review right now so i just get a No Application Activity message.
I haven’t had any of my credit cards show up. Also car loan didn’t show up either. When talking with chase the rep didn’t even know it existed. This was over a year ago when I saw it. Would be nice if they actually used it to show application status.

Disney cruise line is my most favorite vacation....but I am torn on this one. Usually I am happy to throw money at the mouse.

My aunt is a TA who specializes in cruises. Goes on 3-5 cruises each year and is a major bargain hunter for herself (and her clients). SHe says Disney cruises are just not worth the cost compared to other cruise lines. And she books a lot of Disney cruises but feels the value just isn't there. Main reason we've not take a Disney cruise.
