Likely CIP... our strategy is basically this:

Just completed: AMEX delta Biz gold
Current card: AMEX blue Biz plus
4/17: wife CIP
7/17: AMEX Biz (player and card TBD)
10/17: wife CSP/CSR double dip
1/17: wife CIC
4/17: me CIP (with referral)

Lots of fun ahead for you guys!! Excited for you and your dw! You have given so much great advice on this thread for so many cards that you were not able to even apply for and get yourself. We sure do appreciate you!

Aww well thanks :)

I've been planning for our under 5/24 moment since June 2016...that's when we stopped having my wife apply for personal cards. It's been a LONG 20 months!

You meant 2018 and 2019, right?

Ok glad I didn't apply for the Hyatt. Every unit I checked was at least twice as much if not more than the $$ they quoted under the pic, plus $190 for cleaning. But you could do short stays.

Congrats! I did receive my AMEX Plat in 3 business days. I'm itching to go for the Delta Plat Biz

I am at the Maui airport waiting for our red eye flight. Stayed at Hyatt Recency Maui and the resort made getting the Hyatt card worth it. Will post a review of the trip when can post on something other than my phone. The offer isn't anything spectacular right now though so it is a card that can wait. (Plus it isn't subject to 5/24 so do other cards first).

My plan as soon as back from this trip was to apply for CIP since as of 3 days ago finally 4/24. (But hey who is counting). With these new Amex bonuses though for Delta Gold Business and SPG Business I am conflicted. Realistically can only do one card at a time and spend organically (which is what I want to do to avoid drama). Any thoughts of what to do? Wait on CIP and go for another Amex Business? Anyone heard rumors of CIP 80k bonus going up or down?

That CIP offer has been solid for awhile. Would be surprised if it changed - Chase doesn't do that much.

The SPG offer is really good considering it only goes to 35k a couple times a year. Plus as @Albort has said before...changes may be coming to the SPG/Marriott lineup...

EDIT: I'll also say that Delta offer seems to come around pretty frequently. I passed it up a few times before I went for it in December. And now it's back again already.

Can't wait to read how your trip went at the Hyatt Maui!

Agree with @SouthFayetteFan, I think the SPG is far more likely to change before the CIP. If you can swing the spend on the SPG biz's new offer, I'd go for that before the CIP.

Thanks guys. I know going for the SPG makes the most sense; think I just needed to hear that! I have been lusting for a CIP of my own so long it takes some thought to get used to the thought of waiting if that makes sense.

I will report back on Maui on Monday. Would like to post a couple pictures and so it will be easier to do it then when I am at work. Sad but true!

What is CIP? I like credit cards and all but lots of jargon here I just don’t get. I have 3 cards that I use and really i don’t use them that much. I have a Disney Chase (meh not so good). Chase Sapphire and a Capital One Card which I never use.

So there are over 800 pages here on credit cards which honestly I’m NOT going to read.

So for those of us late in the game today how about a little help on acronyms and abbreviations. Where would a noob CC person even start? I see lots of posts “we flew here free” or “stayed here free” or “upgraded to Europe free”. I like free but man I’m confused

Is putting some Plastiq on the CIP possible to meet its MSR while also freeing up spend for the SPG Biz’s MSR?

CIP is the Chase Ink Preferred. It is a business card that has an 80k ultimate reward signup bonus which is a very flexible and valuable rewards point. It's a popular card here on this thread cause it's pretty easy to get and the bonus is great! If you have a spouse applying for cards as well, once you have the card, you can refer them with your link and get an extra 20K + their 80K.

We'd love to help you get caught up to speed! When did you get the cards you have? What are your travel goals? Some here are big on int'l travel, first class travel, free Disney rooms...we all have different travel goals...I'm sure we can help you come up with what cards would work best for you. Welcome!

ETA: ask about any acronyms you don't get. Super friendly bunch here!

I have never looked into Plastiq as not sure what we would use it for. We don’t have car payments right now and our mortgage is through the credit union where all our money is. (To make a mortgage payment just transfer money from our checking account). So I am not sure. Might be worth looking into I guess. If it worked that would take care of the CIP spend easily in 3 months.

yeah, dont read all 800 pages... a lot of it is old news that most likely expired. if u want to start reading, id suggest maybe 50 pages back.
heres a nice list if u need to look it up --> https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/credit-finance-acronyms/
Most of the posts are customized on where/how to start. We usually would need to know your home airport, your vacation destination, and also a list of all your cards u have opened in the past 24 months.

@Lain gave a starter idea here --> https://www.disboards.com/threads/i-love-credit-cards-so-much.3528202/page-817#post-58878884

might give u a lowdown on how credit card turning works. If you have questions, just ask.

Plastiq is good for any expense or bill that you couldn’t otherwise pay with a credit card. Payee doesn’t accept credit cards? Use your credit card to pay Plastiq the amount due and a 2.5% fee, and Plastiq will send the payee a check.

The reason why I’m wondering if you have any expenses you could pay with Plastiq using a CIP is because the CIP currently earns 3x UR on all kinds of payment through Plastiq, thereby negating the fee (as with anything, the way this codes could change) and even makes this a small money maker (2.5% fee on principal vs 3% back earned on the principal and fee, then transfer to CSP or CSR for 25% or 50% greater value through Chase UR). So if you can use Plastiq for expenses you otherwise couldn’t charge to a credit card to meet MSR on the CIP, then you don’t have to worry about putting any other spend on the CIP and can free up other expenses to put on a SPG Biz.

The problem is Visa cards are generally not accepted for mortgage payments through Plastiq. If your mortgage is through a local credit union, the payee may not be blocked and you might be able to get a mortgage payment through. Otherwise, we can get creative with the wording of your recipient to try to get the payment through.
