I love credit cards so much!

Just did the $15 off $60 Chase deal on Amazon. First time I’ve gotten it to work for me! I bought a $60 Landry’s GC. DH has already asked that we eat at Yak and Yeti in September and we will need to save up some of our table service meals to eat at Cali Grill one night. Plus, September is BIL’s birthday month so I’m going to sign up for the birthday discount. DH and I know to split meals at Y&Y since the portions are HUGE, so between the GC and birthday discount, it should be very little OOP.

So I'm a little slow, and just figured out what I need to do to actually "link" my rewards to Amazon, and I was able to link my amex just fine, but its now telling me that linking reward points is unavailable and I can't link my chase account... One of these days I will catch up!

That’s weird. I never had any problem linking my account. However, every time I’ve tried to “activate” the offer, it tells me it can’t be activated. It said that this time too, but it still worked. I used 1 UR and charged it to my CFU.

Not sure about the free version, but I changed mine to the plain Virtual Wallet (with nothing) after the bonus hit, which just requires $500 to be fee-free (else $7). It was easy to do online under the "Preferences" tab. Account needs to be open 45 days before you can switch.

Yup, second account at same address is doable, assuming you opened an individual account. I have one and DH has one. He also has a separate savings - no bonus but got the $2000 credit card funding. I tried to open the savings recently but got tripped up by the identify verification questions (no idea why). :badpc:
That's it, fee-free virtual wallet, thank you!

I keep seeing people mentioning doing this. Is there some sort of benefit?

I think just because the amazon GC you bought may have been purchased at a discount.

Yeah, the Amex MR linking page is working fine, but the chase UR page says it is down - maybe too many people trying to get in on the action this morning? My reading comprehension skills aren't great, apparently, because as soon as I clicked on the link on DoC to activate the Amex offer, I was able to use my newly (correctly) linked amex and do the amex deal. Will keep trying to link my chase account and see if I can do that too!

Quick question: Can my DH refer me from his business Amex for me to get a personal Amex? Or can he refer himself?

I am considering the Hilton Aspire. I am hesitating because I started churning last year and I am 3/12, this would take me up to 4/12. DH is 2/24, but one is falling off in June. He also got 2 business cards since we started to get serious about churning last year.

IIRC, DH has the Biz Platinum? A referral from that card will earn him 15k MR to his MR account. (Does he have the Business Gold Rewards or Business Gold card? That'll earn him 20k MR per referral.) Have DH log into the Amex Refer a Friend site with his account credentials to check what referral offers he has on his cards (and if he has several accounts, check them all). Copy the referral link from the card that gives the best referral bonus. Keep in mind, not all points are equal. 15k MR > 20k Hilton, etc. Also note that Amex MR cards are limited to 55k MR in referral bonuses per year. My feeling is, the best referral bonus is probably from DH's Biz Plat.

Copy the referral link, paste it in another browser or incognito window. If you're taken directly to the Biz Plat's application page, you don't want that, so find the banner/link to View All Cards with a Referral Offer, click Looking for a Personal Card, look through the different Amex products and find the Hilton Aspire (don't confuse it with the Ascend, etc.), click on Continue to Card Details and you'll be taken to the application page for the Aspire.

Why do you want the Hilton Aspire and who is going to use the Aspire benefits? The Aspire comes with, among many other things, complimentary Diamond status so if DH travels alone frequently, it may make sense for him to apply for the card and have that benefit attach to his Hilton account. The more info you provide, the better we can help.

I have had TiW at times and sometimes not. If the numbers make sense to upgrade to at least one AP I would decide that first and then decide if worth another $150 for TiW. There are some great benefits to the AP including dining. Some QS are included. Micah at Mouseperks keeps up an awesome app you can download to see available discounts for free. Other advantages of the AP might pay for itself. The memory maker and the 20% merchandise discount is what immediately comes to mind. Or even discounts to the special events like DAH or the parties.

The TiW does include valet parking at the resorts as well as alcohol. So that could help sway you too if applicable.

I first started getting an AP years ago because we were staying off site and o couldn’t handle paying for parking. But you really do have to just run the numbers. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. I would have never even thought to ask about most of these discounts.

Meeting spend on a card that isn't eligible for the promo. Most times when using these promos the balance has to be paid with the matching CC (MR/UR). So for the Amex promo you had to pay with an MR card, but I'm working on SW Biz spend. So once I knew the amount going on m card I topped up my Amazon GC balance with my SWB then checked out putting less than $1 on my Amex Gold. For the UR promo I'm pretty sure I needed to use my CSR so I did the same thing, topped up my Amazon GC balance with my SWB then checked out putting less than $1 on my CSR.

Big day here--paid off AA Biz-MSR met Thursday so hoping miles will post after statement closes 1/17.
MSR met on BBP today, will pay off tomorrow, hopefully will see MSR MRs by Thursday or Friday.

$100 GC credit for AA reimbursed on Amex Plat.
Several United charges credited and reimbursed on Amex Biz Plat---learning point--different cards can have different airlines for the reimbursements, somehow I didn't know that.

20% Staples reimbursed on Amex.

I spoke with a CSR from Delta yesterday. I'd emailed a complaint about both of our flights NYE-for one I said don't contact, one I said do. Yesterday received a call from an apologetic CSR and DH and I both were awarded 15,000 skymiles. Whoo hoo! I know it's only worth about $300 but it took 10 min between the DL survey and the phone call and it was a pretty easy earn.

Finally got the amazon promo to work and received $30 off my expensive Paul Mitchell uber conditioner.:cool1: I honestly think I'm most excited about the conditioner :rotfl:

So I told myself that I wasn't going to apply for any credit cards in 2019. (Spoiler alert, I lasted 12 whole days) I have a good 15 cards and wanted to let my currant cards age a bit. Before today, I was at 4/24 with chase but after I read the news about SW handing out a companion pass (for 2019 only) with 30,000 points for just getting 1 card I had to jump on it. We have 3 flights planned before the end of the year so it was a no brainer.
Instant approval!!

@Judique how’s your daughter and family?

Doing better and looking forward to coming home!

On other topic, my 30% staples offers credited the $19 each to my accounts! My purchase was on January 3rd, credit showed this morning Jan 12th. The credit was not there last night as I checked it around 9pm. So 9 days. I think my last one credited just a bit quicker.

I currently have 3 Amex cards with airline credits. I quickly bought SW GCs with my Gold and MB Plat at the start of this year, but really hesitated whether I should keep my Biz Plat with SW for the GCs or switch it to an airline we fly more often like United or Hawaiian, for which GCs don't credit, but we could use on bags, and utilize the 35% MR rebate for coach fares paid with points. In the end, I wasn't sure I'd be able to use up $200 in incidentals on either airline this year, so I kept my selection with SW and bought another $200 GC.

I'm now sitting on $900 in SW GCs (still have some from last year).

So when is SW supposed to start flying to Hawaii?

Haha. I forgot was my username was for a sec. it was just too good to pass up. We will get a good 90,000+ SW points out of the deal with our 3 flights and 30,000 points. I'll take a hard pull for 90,000 SW points any day.
