I love credit cards so much!

I need to check dischurners about this. Is it gift card mall or something else? And the fees involved must be outweighed by points, right?

I've been wondering about this too, how people who MS for profit actually make profit. Not sure how much I would actually do it, but would like to earn in case it would come in handy for meeting an MSR. I've tried twice to buy a MO with a GC and haven't had any luck yet. The first time I picked credit instead of debit, the second time I tried it said it was an invalid pin. I need to figure out if it really was or if it just doesn't work at my local Dillons (Kroger) grocery store. I do have a CIP so would like to learn how to make this work.

I didn't check out but got all the way to confirm screen. I was able to change the dates in the address bar. I couldn't modify dates through the page. This is awesome!!!!!

We chose to cancel after a year. I'm pretty sure they offered another option. Even with the AF, you come out +$5 if you choose to keep it ($100 travel credit vs. $95 AF).
There’s a $100 travel credit? I must have missed that somewhere.

FYI, we booked a standard room and when I did my check-in on the app I was able to get a room with a Universal view on the highest floor. I'm just Hilton Gold with my Hilton biz card
Hmmm, maybe I should go back to a regular room lol
Awesome! Smooth sailing I assume??
No issues. Now to convince DH so we can knock them out twice as fast

Question is - can you get enough use of the 10% back to justify the annual fee? That's assuming you have status or other AA cards to get free bags/priority boarding etc.

ETA: @gottalovepluto beat me to it - but am inclined to agree, not worth the AF to me on an otherwise meh card
I have had all the AA cards and usually cancel one after I get the next. So I pretty much always have free bags which is my biggest concern. The 10% is not as big a deal, but I’ll have to calculate it.

ADDING this comment regarding Citi AA matches from the DISchurners thead: https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurner...oo_choooall_aboard_the_graavy_train_i_cringe/

The important thing to know is that cards can be matched to 75k total miles or 20k additional miles – whichever is lower – regardless of what you applied for. You don’t have to meet an additional minimum spend requirement; Citi matches points and will award them on next statement.

How far back can you go to ask for this? I got the Citi Biz in Oct and just got the 70k added. My 4 mos isn't until Feb.

Haven’t done it yet but I’ve sold a few gcs recently. I liked cardcash deposits directly into your account or PayPal. Cardpool is good too but they send you a check- it came quickly

My stop and shop is super easy with MOs - for now!!

Awesome! Smooth sailing I assume??
Do you mind sending me a PM with the details of the MOs at stop and shop? Is not posted on Dischurners.

Ok, I decided to see if there was any magical pricing for Labor Day weekend because I'd like to go since our APs will expire on Labor Day. Then on a whim I also asked about their rooms at Pop for the cruise trip with the ILs... They are $408 a room for those days, vs $464 at All Star Music. I'm thinking yes - renovated rooms, can pay with gift cards, and it's still the same cancellation policy as a normal Disney booking? Sold.

My 2019 IHG unrestricted free night just posted. It did overlap so I have 2 nights in my account right now. Trying to decide if I see if 2018 can still be booked for a date after expiration and use them together for a later trip. Downside to that is if we have to cancel I lose my night. Bit of a gamble.
We have a quickie trip to Vegas we're debating, and if we decide to go I can try for the Palazzo - which had been my plan for the next trip out there, until IHG went cheap and restricted them :( That's very tempting but so far SW points pricing has not been favorable so that's a gamble too... thinking about it, I guess that's fitting...

Palazzo is my Vegas home away from home these days. Like I won't stay anywhere else, LOL. Though Vegas really is my home away from home, I lived there for 3 years and actually ended up an UNLV alum (though I claim Michigan, LOL).

I'm bummed my IHG freebie can't be Palazzo, but you can snag cheap nights there. For my 20th I think we paid maybe $100/nt. Now when school sends me for a week in Nov, they get to pay $450/nt. And for some flipping reason when I want to go in Feb is $700/nt. Last year the same week had rooms for $150/nt. I can not find what is going on there, but $700/nt on Tue-Th is crazy! When I go in November it's for AutoDesk University which is 13k people being held there....and even then they only "rasie" up to $450/nt.

My sister doesn’t understand how this can be fun. Admittedly we don’t usually close the parks when they are open until midnight but we are almost always at RD. We rarely break during the day so after a couple days, DS begs for pool time, so we give him an hour or so in the am then head to the parks. That’s usually it for resort time. Lol.
Our upcoming trip is 5 nights at Swan, 2 nights off property with 6 day PH. The 2 days off property were supposed to be Disney Springs (which we’ve been to once in 5 trips) and Disney outlet and pool time. But the 6 day PH was only a couple bucks more so...we’ll do a half day the last full day. DS wants Epcot and Illuminations our last night.
I think it is exhausting but so fun! We did even longer days at DLR since they have longer hours than WDW. There was one day at DLR that had hours from 7a-12a. We got there at 6:30 and stayed until 12. We were so tired but it was so fun! The longest we have done at WDW is a 8am EMH and closing at 12a, and that was with a 6yo. We do like to build in a resort day every 3 days or so, which I think is why DLR was hard for us. Four days of just straight going, with no resort day, so fun but next time, we will build a resort day even into DLR.

My stop and shop is super easy with MOs - for now!!

I found 2 S&S locations in MA and one in RI that are checking/refusing if it says gift on the front...cashier gave some lame excuse...I wasn't gonna argue but I may have rolled my eyes at the poor excuse given.

oh wow!:worship:

So I buy a gift card that you mentioned. Take the gift card to the grocery store and buy a money order. Deposit the money order in the bank (not my main one I assume?). Rinse and repeat.

Missing anything here?

That is pretty much it. I have a couple "trash" accounts that I deposit into so it a freeze happens, or a closure, I don't have to start moving everything else around. I find it easier to also use a bank that will accept a MO through mobile deposit as it saves on bank trips.

I booked flights to Vancouver and got the 10% back but I thought it was going away. Gotta do more research

I just flew this past weekend and got the 10%. So maybe it's like the Hilton Surpass -> Ascend move. I was told I'm grandfathered in on the free night every year (not tied to a spend). So perhaps grandfathered in on the 10%.

That’s it. Start small or maybe use a real debit to see how it works at a few places near you first. I was so nervous at first but now it’s just an extra step when I’m out running errands.

The tricky part is finding places that take the GC for MO but say it’s a debit and even when I show the card with my name on it it works 90% of the time. I have one location near me so burned I’m pretty sure they have a picture of me in the back saying to not sell MOs to me lol but I have other usual spots now. Have one location with the regular visas from the grocery store that I can do too. I am probably going to open up a serve/bluebird account and load those too.
