I love credit cards so much!

Is anybody in our group churning AA cards? Are people looking for personal, business, or both offers? I'm continuing to read up on this personally as it could become a minor part of my 2019 strategy and just want to know who else wants to be kept up to speed on things if I find anything out OR anything changes.
:teacher: me me !!! I have no clear AA plan yet except I'm very interested in the opportunities

Okay so I read up a
Honestly I think I'm just confused on the whole travel "erasure" idea. So we plan to get our rail passes from JTB USA. They are a Japan travel agency. I'm not really sure if we should be buying these with a certain card or how we should be doing this. I found out the Barclay card won't work because the Japan Rail Pass doesn't count as travel. I don't think we could use any of these cards to directly buy the rail passes. Does it make the most sense to just apply for a card and take out a statement credit?

I guess we should just focus on the card that will give us the best points for travel. Both the Venture and BOA cards are 2x points for travel right?
Think of "erasure" as a statement credit. For Capital One, ALL purchases are 2 x points. To use the travel eraser (statement credit), the charge must code as travel. BOA, is 2x points on travel and dining, 1.5 on everything else. The statement credits can be used on any charge, so you would definitely be able to use it for your rail pass. You would also get another $100 towards incidental travel fees (baggage, early bird check ins, upgrade fees etc.). Both give a credit for TSA precheck.
I actually think the BOA card would be better for your situation.

Had to do a vehicle registration yesterday, pay for it, I mean, so I put it on my BOA Amtrak card. Again, should have done it 'before 12/31' to get 3X but my mind is on other things. Now I'm over 1K Amtrak points I've missed! I've got to just let it go.

Noticed I have a deal there for 10% Lowes and that I have another Starbucks 10% up to $3 deal. BOA also has what are called coins for the number of deals you do. I was not paying attention to this as the deals were a lot of things I don't use.

But, if I do the Lowes - $130 gives me $13 back and run through the Starbucks drive through for something, I'll make $5 which will really only be $2 as I'll spend $3 at Starbucks I didn't intend to. But I guess I can call it a free drink also.

And, gave up some points and paid two of my younger daughter's bills (insurance and phone) with older daughter's plat to help her with her 5K on her new Platinum card she got at Xmas. Normally I would have done a card for myself with that $1200 plus the $187 for my registration.

I've done some super strange things with cards...probably my strangest move was signing up for a Delta card, redeeming it for a Target Gift Card and then using the target card to buy Disney GCs (back when that was still allowed). :)

BUT, they do have Walmart that I could use at Sam's, and they also now have Disney GC's :) May just do the Disney since I let my Sam's membership expire, and I'm unsure when I will join again. I have enough for $400 in Disney. Not bad!

I'd also be happy enough with a Target card still, lol. We would shop there enough to use it and I'd just allocate the expense into the appropriate category and credit the savings towards a trip :)

I'm happy you brought this up! But, I would want to do a business card and I'm not seeing a great option in the Delta business cards. I could easily use either the Target cards or the Disney cards redemption, but I would get no use otherwise out of this card. Any ideas on how I can make this pay off?

I just realized I received a 50k BOA Premium Rewards for $3000k plus a $100 annual travel statement credit. I am guessing that is a typical offer?

I realized this morning that our Ally account is only in my name. Would this be a problem if I pushed money from it into DH's PNC account? I could always push to DH's Chase checking and then move it from, there but didn't know if that would create any problems.

Discover is a good one to start with because it is extraordinarily easy and fast to post. Ally can be annoying because they have a 3 business day ACH hold, but they're great otherwise.
I'm hoping DHs bank doesn't take too long with transfers. I had planned to open him a Discover count a couple months ago, but I couldn't do the opening deposit from my Ally account because he's not on it.

so..... how do I do this? canceled SPG, just got the $95 af refunded, but card is closed.... how do I get that back?

I am. Two Personals every 60 days and business every 95 for both myself and wife.

Only using the 40k/$3k offers that I can get matched to 60k for personal and 75k/$5k for business. On pace for 24 personals for 1.44mil/$72k spend and 8 business for 600k/$40k spend for a 12 month span (over 2 mil total for $112k)

I did it on the Delta Gold Biz when it had an elevated offer. The offer at that time was 50k SkyMiles + $50 credit towards a Delta purchase for $2,000 spend (and the AF is waived in year 1). I sold the $50 Delta card on Raise and received $42 and got $250 in Target Cards from the SkyMiles. (I fully acknowledge there was more value in using them for flights but I had no reason to ever fly Delta so that was off the table). $292 back on $2,000 at a 14.6% return was good enough for me :) I know Delta offers change all the time but right now I think it's only 30k miles + $50 gift for $1k spend. I'd probably hold out for a higher offer. Of course the other thing now is with AMEX, signing up for a card for only the bonus isn't a great plan as it can get you in their doghouse. I'd struggle to continue to put spend on a Delta card at a terrible return just to keep them happy...so that warrants consideration too.

About to cash out URs for the deposit on the Disney rooms... (double checks Disney isn't back on the portal :sad1:)
I'm not too far behind you on this...it feels super sad...I agree

Well way to make us all feel like small fish Andy :P :P JK!!! How are you getting your biz offers? Purchasing them on the marketplace?

I think if you call they can issue you a check...or if you wait long enough they'll automatically issue a check. OR you might be able to transfer that credit to another AMEX card with a balance.

Yes, this was a problem we ran into. Our dd18 has money at Ally but it’s under my account. Had to transfer to her chase checking and push to Pnc from chase.

Wait, the citi biz has a $200 offer? Say what? I have it and haven't come across any mention of it.
The offer I chose was the dummy booking offer on the CitiBusiness AA - 40k AA miles + $250 statement credit for $2k MSR. Looking to get it matched for an additional 20k miles (total 60k then). You can only use that offer the first time around then - subsequently you have to find targeted offers with no 24mo. restriction and I think those are mostly 75k for $5k spend.
