I love credit cards so much!

We have never stayed offsite but not sure we can afford a ton of onsite stays if my dd gets into dcp. At that point, I may be willing to do things I’ve not been willing to before.
Yes, coming from Colorado for sure! Your trips will be longer I think. I will only be popping down for a couple nights at a time and hope to plan it around when I can get CM room discounts. We will have a long stay in May for her bday, but that will be the only one. I am hoping to get a CM discount and do bank bonuses and UR/GC combo to pay for it since I have some time. :)

We pretty much decided that next trip we are doing a split stay -- not giving up AKL totally but also staying at least half time at a resort that has walking access to at least one park.

We have taken quite a few trips splitting between AKL for the ambiance/animals and either YC/BC or GF/Poly for convenience. Best of both worlds IMHO. :cloud9:

Can you just get it in your name and transfer your Hyatt points to his account? Thats what we do with hilton points.

That's something I am not sure about. I'd hate to not be able to combine. And also think the "status" goes with the card. We won't amass enough nights to climb that ladder.

You'd be surprised. I saw AKL_Jambo today for late August.

I really need to learn how to do this. Do you know if the DL hotels are on Hotwire or Priceline? I have cancelled the last few DL trips I planned because those hotels just cost too much for me these days.

I saw it asked about the DLR hotels and it didn’t seem anyone knew. I’d be afraid to try one there.

I verified you can combine points. Here is the status you get with the credit card...discoverist.

It isn't all that exciting. You do get credited for a couple elite nights a year with the credit card though. So the question really is, does your DH travel and stay at Hyatt without you much? I always send my points to DH b/c he stays out weekly for business trips. If that isn't a consideration for you, then you could get the card in your name, transfer your current stash of points from DH to you, and you hold the status as well.

Your pictures are amazing! I told my kids where you are and showed them the pics and I’m not sure they believe me lol. It’s gotta be so surreal to be there!

@calypso726 thanks for sharing! I am a little nervous for those penguins though...I thought leopard seals eat the penguins!

Glad you like the pictures! It is very surreal to be here. I still can’t believe we are here.

They do eat penguins but they are not the main part of their diet. The leopard seals don’t move well on land. The inch on their bellies and can’t use their flippers like sea lions do. They are built differently. I literally just learned this tonight. After each landing the National Geographic scientists do a daily recap with the passengers and discus what we saw and take questions.

There are a lot of Floridians on this sailing which I thought was odd. However, I was even more surprised to meet 2 other couples that are points and miles enthusiasts. They mostly follow TPG. We all gotta start somewhere. Just thought it was cool to meet other credit card peeps in the remotest place on earth LOL

If not onsite we have always stayed at Windsor Hills. Last time I stayed and rented directly through the vacation management company it coded as travel for my Venture. You can get a town home for which sleeps 8 for around $100 a night. It is super close...not any further from the parks then AKL.

well darn, why didn't mine work then. I figured it hadn't worked because it said I needed to order ahead and I ordered from a restaurant kiosk for my food and at the counter for my GC. I used 2 diff cards and neither credited. I think I will send a SM and see what they say.

I hope you get the credit.

He travels, but not often like your DH. Our upcoming Hyatt stay in NYC was booked in his name from his points account. It would be nice to get the minimal advantages of the lowest status tier with them. Plus it would be nice for him if he does stay at a Hyatt for work. The Marriott status his Plat gave him has made things nicer when he has had to travel.

The worst thing is that it's a stupid Banana Republic Visa from 3/17 that is counting in the 5/24. I suspected it was a mistake at the time, but we got it for the discount. Never again.

I completely forgot I have the Arrival + spend to make as I put a huge propane bill hastily on my CSR!

That thread is dangerous. I already got sucked in and started planning a weekend Food and Wine trip for October. DH is going to murder me.
Lol Dh just won $500 at our casino in the last three days and we both looked at each other and said,” Disney?” We both know we shouldn’t go and most likely won’t but it’s the first thing we think of. I’ve never done the Priceline deals but they make it so hard to not grab them when you see them.

Aloha, from Aulani.

It really is so dangerous! I had already done Hotwire and had it all figured out but had no idea there were Disney resorts on Priceline as well. I should have figured that but not sure why I didn't. Anyways, it's so fun (and addicting...?) to search dates and see what comes up :) I'm even getting Disney resorts for Spring Break week when dh & I will be in Orlando for a conference. As soon as my dh gives me the 'thumbs up', I'm so excited to book something!
