I love credit cards so much!

Thank you for in the tip! How likely is one without a business to get a CIP card?

ETA: DH has a SW business card if that makes a difference. I was unable to get one though.

I was approved for it with my small eBay sales....you apply with your name and SS number as your business name and EIN...also remember to put total household income down...not just your income in that slot....if you’d rather start with your husband applying for it you could do that as well

Think I could go for a magical third Chase Biz card? I'm leaning towards the CIC as a keeper because I want the 5x URs on GCs at office stores...

5/17 SW Plus, SW Biz
9/17 Marriott Personal, CFU
10/18 CIP

Plus 2 AMEX Biz cards 10/17, 7/18

When DD called Chase we found out that they were pulling Equifax, which stinks since DH is 5/24 on Equifax but only showing 4/24 on Chase and Transunion. Sounds like he shouldn't bother applying if Equifax is their "go to" source. :( Ugh we really want that card. I may have to get it in my name, but it's really not what we want.

I have just a very, very small eBay 'business' (meaning I sell ever so often) and I was approved for a CIP. Many of us here have that card with very small 'businesses' :D

You must be under 5/24 to get the card (just like all the other Chase cards) and not have applied for another Chase card in the last 30 days.

You would apply just as @palhockeymomof2 said.

If you are not a part of the DISchurners group, you should consider joining by pm'ing @SouthFayetteFan or @Albort. Then you could use a "support" link and post your own so others can use!

I think you’ll be fine...I have 3....SW 10/17....CIP 5/18...CIC 10/18....also got the CSR 8/18...I’m sure you know to reduce credit limits etc prior to applying

I know @Lain is busy in Hawaii, but does anyone else know about the United card and being able to see more award bookings? Do they just know I have a card or do I have to add it somewhere? Just got approved yesterday so obviously don't have the number yet. The main reason I got it was to hope to see different options for DDs flight home and it doesn't look any different when I log in or not log in.

And, when I talked to daughter, she wanted me to research whether she'll get her points back when she cancels her March trip - I can't even remember where she was going - as it was booked with British avios. I think this was the Cayman Island trip. I told her I had to ask @calypso726 but that she was in Antarctica and we would have to wait! She said fabulous!

I will be canceling my Florida trip. I was to leave on January 5th. No biggie. Florida will still be there for old people like me in a few months and they have Flower and Garden from March to May. I loved it when I went before.

Hi! Not keeping up with the thread but did pop in and saw the tag. If memory serves, Avios flights can be cancelled and points redeposited for up to $55 in taxes and fees. Theoretically if the taxes were $5.60 like on a domestic flight then that’s the penalty. The flight must be cancelled more than 24 hours in advance of departure.

We’ve survived the Drake passage and were lucky it was mild. I heard that it was so rough a couple of weeks ago that three windows were blown out! Hopefully we will make our first landing tomorrow!

I've been trying to distract myself by reading online today, when my phone is not beeping with texts.

This morning my daughter and family were in a pretty bad car accident in Colorado. They've all survived and no one is currently critical, but lots of broken bones. Both of the cars look totaled. My ex went to the scene and sent me the pics. Daughter called me before help came and there was barely a signal so it was pretty scary.

Youngest grand daughter just had a cat scan and they are getting ready to do an MRI of her C2 neck bone. She was on side of the car that was hit but of course she was in her car seat in the back. Older grand daughter has been released, but Mom, Dad and youngest are still in hospital. Dad is in surgery now and has multiple broken bones but is not critical. He was airlifted to the hospital and Mom and 2 daughters came by ambulance. Mom's ankle badly broken.

Yesterday it was pictures texted back and forth of everyone having a wonderful xmas with our Colorado family, and today is not so great but I'm thankful everyone survived and will recover.

The other driver also survived, and I'm happy for his family.

Oh no! I am so sorry to read this. My good thoughts, prayers and pixie dust are with you and your family.

It's XN space. Your United account should recognize you as a cardholder as long as you used your United number when signing up for the card. Log out and log back in.

Wowza to that MSR!! Good luck! Keep us posted on the progress. Hopefully with a business it might be easy to knock some of the lower ones off with few spends. My car insurance will knock off the initial spend on mine with one transaction and if I get it in time I may use to pay DD20 tuition even with a fee. We don't owe much for her, so will that will actually be less than the car insurance but will help.

Yes, we will have to keep each other updated! I would have waited a bit to do DH Cap One, but I couldn’t find mention of an end date and kept worrying I would regret waiting too long. Hope yours comes in time for DDs tuition payment to help you out!

I'd like to narrow it down, but the amex/chase offers keep sucking me in.

Totally this!! Such a love/hate relationship with those offers. I am trying to simplify the number of cards we pay each month as well. Is it bad that I was secretly hoping that offers wouldn’t be as good for a little bit after Christmas so that I could decrease the number of actively used cards we have, just for a bit??!!

More options to debate does not help me. Now I looked at my Doubletree reservation by Universal... right now I have a King Universal view for 30k points, now they have 2 Queen non-view rooms for 27k points... or this magical MVP rate is $95 per night ($320 total for 3 nights). Is the MVP rate excluded from earning points, etc like most hotel programs?
No, I don't believe it is excluded. I just went through all our stays for the last year and they have all credited with points. Not sure which ones used that rate, but I have used it several times. It isn't a 3rd party booking, so should be fine, like a AAA rate.

ETA: I'd calculate the price per point based on the cash rate ($320) you'd otherwise be paying. In this case, unless I wanted the trip to be free specifically, I'd go with the cash rate. With hilton I try to reserve my point redemptions for 5+ nights to get the free 5th night. That can be alot of added value.

You can also tell because where it lists the flight it will say something like “this is available to you specially since you are a member” or something along those lines. So sometimes the same flight is available regardless of whether I am logged in or not, but when I’m not logged in it will be at, for example, 20k but then when I log in it drops down to, again for example, 12.5k. It’s been a really useful feature for us in the past, so even if it doesn’t seem to be helping in this instance it may be helpful for future flights!

ETA Realized that I didn’t exactly answer your question by mistake. It might just take a few days for the account to recognize that you are now a card holder? I can’t remember if it has been instant for us in the past or not. I’m sorry that’s not very helpful right now.

@speedyfishy

Just popping in to mention that my points finally posted today for the saga of the holiday bonus spending promotion the other month. I didn’t MO the gcs like I assume that you did which would have been even better (I’m not that brave yet) but in the end I think I got about 8-9pts/$ for spend from those gcs that would normally have gotten me only 1pt/$. So overall a success in my book. Thank you again for your help on it!

Woooo... 0.4cpp and that's if I switch to the non-view room to save 3k points per night  Paying I'd earn almost 11k points between Gold status, Hilton CC, and their new promo. One one hand, I like free and had no idea what I'd use these Hilton points for when I got the Hilton Biz, on the other it does make me a bit sad to use them for that... it's like my $3k spend got me a $320 room plus 25k Hilton Points :rotfl:

My DH's is linked. I think we provided his United account number when he applied for the card. I can see the extra award bookings on his United account.
