:offtopic:For those with kids around 11, do you do clothes as gifts for Christmas? We've never done them as gifts for DS, although I buy plenty around the holidays, since he needs them anyhow. But with the tree going to look very sparse this year, I thought maybe I should wrap his new UA and Vineyard Vines items and put them around the tree??? But then there's the dilemma that his current sweatshirts and shirts are looking pretty small at the moment and he could probably use them now. I am blaming my VV AmEx offers for this pickle :) Next year we won't have this issue as much since he'll be required to wear a uniform and won't need as many casual/school clothes.
We decided to do a trip to San Diego this year during Christmas. They are getting more difficult to shop for. My girls will each have a new suitcase and some socks and underwear, and a fantastic time at Sea World, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal park and lots of delicious foods.

Oh BoA, just twist the knife a little more, go ahead... I logged into my account to finally apply for the bank bonus they offered and when I opened the Offers section I was greeted with this completely new offer -

That's exactly what I was trying to do, dude...

I didn't see this shared here: CFU (Chase Freedom Unlimited) $200 offer...https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-freedom-unlimited-200-offer/ (aka 20,000 UR points)

Since many of us are in 2 player mode here, I think it makes more sense to refer each other where applicable since you earn $100 (10k URs) from the referral and $150 (15k URs) from the signup so that's $250 (25k URs) combined. IF neither player has a CFU then this offer could be a good start.

EDIT: I'll add that if this interests you, I wouldn't wait around on it. Sometimes Chase puts these offers out as a test and we've seen them pulled pretty quickly before. That may not be the case here, but you never know. I seem to recall a 60k CSP and a 3x UR CFU offer earlier this year that came and went very quickly.

This does interest me...but I’m unsure about applying now since the plan was to wait 3 months for another Chase application.....my Chase cards in the last 12 months...CIP 5/18, CSR 8/18, CIC 10/12........ok to apply or wait until January...

If it is a glitch, hoping it lasts until the end of the year. Where else can I get 2000MR for only $2??
I opted for 5x UR!

Awesome! We take the kids away on feb and that’s our “big” gift too. This year it disney/rc Cruise/ universal. We did San Diego last year. Look into the Go SanDiego card. It was worth it for us...

The bad news is, I tried again today to add my Chase checking account to pay my CIP and it still didn't work. The good news is, I was able to add my Ally account and make the payment so I can continue to be phone call-phobic

Nice! The last 2 years we have been in Punta Cana for Christmas which is a nice escape and DS didn't even miss not having many gifts on Christmas Day but there was always plenty when we got home. Of course, this year we decide to stay home and when we got back from FL over Thanksgiving, he told me I could pick where we went for Christmas as long as they have good Internet service. And had to tell him it was a little late to be making reservations now to go away.

Yup. Lots of good offers expiring today! I'm a little sad we won't have maxed out the 10% cash back at Exxon on both our cards. But I guess I'm glad for our wallets and the planet that we didn't pump $2k worth of gas in the past 5 months or so.
Ha yeah, I looked at Exxon for a moment and was sad because I still have 3 of the $10 back on $20 offers to use... and then I remembered that at best Exxon matched the other stations after discounts and points earned, but most of the time was still significantly more than the other gas stations. And it definitely couldn't compete whenever I hit 20 cents or more discount from Kroger fuel points. I'm going to just stop 3 times when I know I can fit $20 of gas in my car this month... Or fill DHs truck over 3 days in a row.

Rant: I open my BoA checking account for the bonus and in the "Additional Terms" it states that each account has to be opened with a certain minimum opening deposit... no where in the process does it ask me to fund the account!!! They opened it with a $0 balance and gave me a 'Transfer Funds" button, where when I press that it just took me into my regular account where I had to start the transfer process. Now I'm waiting for trial deposits.

I apparently have a completely different definition of opening deposit than BoA does. Usually that means the account isn't opened unless you hand over money; or in the online banking world, give them access to your money via debit card or account information (or if you're lucky, a CC :) ). This better be worth $100 :p

i asked pp person on phone today if i can use my "10" pp passes with hilton for my companions and they said yes but you never know if the PPlounge orPPrestraurant will cooperate.
interesting!

I didn't get on at all yesterday and I got 300 messages behind. Ughhh, But while I am catching up can anyone tell me if I was supposed to renew my Priority Pass? Does it renew automatically? Should I dig through my mail piles to look for one or do I need to log in and request one? DH is away on business for a week and apparently it expires today. Atlanta actually tried to deny him entry yesterday and he was like that is tomorrows date not today. I guess he won't be hitting a lounge on the way home.

I would call and make sure they have gift cards available as someone had trouble finding them during the $300 offer. The other aspect is you can't guarantee a reservation with a gift card.

I have a plan of booking a refundable rate using AAA, and then using the gift card to pay. I'll know in a week or two if this will work. If it doesn't then the cards are good for incidentals, so how many you gather up might depend on where and how you vacation. Also, the Starwood hotels don't take these yet, to the best of my knowledge.

I've also found AAA rate to be the lowest a few times in looking through the website.

I'm not buying another until I confirm my findings.
I purchased a gift card to get the Lux credit. The first Courtyard I asked didn’t have them. Our next stay was at a Towne Place suites. They had gift cards but didn’t know how to sell them! Once we purchased one, it was not easy to redeem it! The staff doesn’t know how to process the transaction. I think gift cards must be pretty rare at Marriott properties!

Give us the information on your credit history as well as your travel plans and you will soon be on your way to a few more of these great travel cards!

705 credit score, paid off medical bill 9/18
Helzberg in store credit 8/18
Kohls Card 8/18
Capital One secured 09/18
BOA Cash Rewards 10/18
Uber Visa 11/18
Amex BCP 11/18

Tried for Chase card before AMex but was declined for short credit history and I think too many recent accounts.

Plans are 2 cruises in next 2 years, trip to Alaska, Back to London side trips to Scotland and Ireland, Hawaii and New Zealand
My husband can get Marriott points from travel sometimes Hilton, we have a vacation planned in July that we owe 1200 could put on card right now
Our season tickets start back soon for Atlanta United that could be put on a new card, and we are going to Disney in 8 days

thanks for any help, this is all new to me, and I guess I should of started a long time ago......

A DP on SPG Lux upgrade and annual fees posting, etc:

Card anniversary is 3/27 (had it for years). Upgraded to Lux on 9/15/18. The terms of the upgrade stated that the new AF would fall 45 days after the upgrade. On 11/27/18 statement close date there is a refund for 4/12ths of $95 AF (-$31.66) and charge for 4/12ths of $450 (+$150). I did receive and use the $300 SPG credit in full already. So I'm ahead by $86.66 woohoo!

I'm $562 away from meeting the $5K spend; needs to be done by 12/14. I'm planning on using $500 for the Ritz Carlton Amex Offer. Bummed because I could have used the $20 off $75 Rover offer on DH's AU card to meet the last bit of spend and I didn't even think about it being on his AU card even though I used mine on my card. Derp.

I'm hoping that next year's $300 credit will become available on my 3/27 anniversary - because I check out of Wailea Beach Marriott on 3/29!

Received my new SPG Lux card sometime last week while I was gone; DH's AU card came yesterday. That's 10-11 weeks after upgrading, really s l o w.

In other cc news, I've received my BBP card but am still waiting for DH's to show up even though we were approved on the same day. I saw here that other people were waiting on their BBPs and SPG Lux cards too so I thought I'd share that I'm in a similar boat.
O/T to your subject but I'll be there this month!!! (very soon) so excited and I get to post a hotel review after!

My Aldi ad never has coupons. Does yours always have them?
Stupid ALdi (I lie,I love Aldi):rotfl: When ours reopened from a renovation last month, they sent me a coupon in the mail to use that week, so I used and felt good until some of my friends let me know that they used that coupon, then the cashier gave them a 2nd set to use later!!!!!! I was deeply offended but then I got over it. I think it was just for the reopening

Awesome! It's just a Marriott GC that can be used at any of their chains, correct? I might need to make a BWI run since I am pretty sure all 4 of them are conveniently located there.
soooo...any word on if one of these 'basic marriott' gc's can be used at swolphin? (as noted earlier I'm having a hard time letting go lol)
