I love credit cards so much!

In Amex news, my $40 off $200 credited this morning from my Courtyard gift card purchase. I have 3 more of these offers on my gold card so this card has already earned it's keep. $100 restaurant rebates, $120 of the $10 monthly credits, $100 airline credit plus $40 of a possible $160 in Marriott credits. I know going forward it will have to work harder, but right now it's doing okay.
I’m loving my new gold card too!

Awesome! It's just a Marriott GC that can be used at any of their chains, correct? I might need to make a BWI run since I am pretty sure all 4 of them are conveniently located there.

:offtopic:For those with kids around 11, do you do clothes as gifts for Christmas? We've never done them as gifts for DS, although I buy plenty around the holidays, since he needs them anyhow. But with the tree going to look very sparse this year, I thought maybe I should wrap his new UA and Vineyard Vines items and put them around the tree??? But then there's the dilemma that his current sweatshirts and shirts are looking pretty small at the moment and he could probably use them now. I am blaming my VV AmEx offers for this pickle :) Next year we won't have this issue as much since he'll be required to wear a uniform and won't need as many casual/school clothes.

It’s my current favorite card!

I would call and make sure they have gift cards available as someone had trouble finding them during the $300 offer. The other aspect is you can't guarantee a reservation with a gift card.

I have a plan of booking a refundable rate using AAA, and then using the gift card to pay. I'll know in a week or two if this will work. If it doesn't then the cards are good for incidentals, so how many you gather up might depend on where and how you vacation. Also, the Starwood hotels don't take these yet, to the best of my knowledge.

I've also found AAA rate to be the lowest a few times in looking through the website.

I'm not buying another until I confirm my findings.

Dont have an 11 yr old but my kids get books and clothes every year. Growing up I got clothes under the tree till I moved out.

Any way to get the 100k platinum card if its not showing on cardmatch? Like DH to go ahead and get this. Hate to do the spg and then a month later see he can get the platinum.

I always got clothes for Christmas growing up. I still do :)

My experience is only at the DIA restaurant but I've been there 3x now. We show the PP early on and the server takes it and, my guess, verifies it is active...? Then, at the end, brings the bill and you pay with that card(s) that your PP is through. Like I said, in our case, we didn't even hit the amount allowed on one of our cards so I just gave dh's CSR and put the tip on that card (PP doesn't cover gratuity). Server never even took my plat.
so it sounds like you were able to use more than one PP at a time at the restaurant (more than 3 people) if needed?

I book the federal gov't rate a lot of the time which is refundable also. I'll wait for your DP :) since the offers don't expire until 1/31/19. So there's plenty of time

I've always added clothes for all my kids at christmas (and still do). But when DS#2 was 11, he was sad that santa had brought too many clothes because he "wasn't too old for toys." Apparently he didn't think he got enough toys that year. I was sad and annoyed at the same time. >:( He is my sensitive one and a bit immature. I have a 10 yr old now who hasn't asked for toys in years, his tastes are much more expensive. :rotfl2:

I have actually done this multiple times. Once I removed DH as an AU from my CSR, I'm the only one left with cards that come with PP. I have PP memberships from my CSR and my Amex Plat. I have shown both cards to get 4 of us into a PP lounge and think I have also done the same at a PP restaurant.
:cool1:

It looks like there is one that brings it down $60/month through December. Hopefully they do another one next year. I guess I need to ask Costco if they will take it and if not try target/cvs and pay with a target gift card.

Can you do a Target gift card at the CVS now? I haven't tried since they sold it but I know it's completely separate from target, basically they just rent the space inside the stores. If I can use Target GCs still I might switch back since I keep finding discounts on the GCs.

Is anybody following the whole "American Express Pre-Approval Referral Offers" thing circulating on DoC and r/churning?
More Info: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/american-express-pre-approval-referral-offers-no-lifetime-language/

Did anybody receive these? I started a thread on DISchurners where these can be discussed and supported...

!!!!! Ok your post made me go look....I got this....
You've been specially invited to refer up to two friends to apply for a pre-approved offer for the Hilton Honors Card. Note: approval is not guaranteed.

You can earn 20,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points when a friend is approved for a Hilton Honors Card, up to 80,000 bonus points for referrals in a year. Plus, your friend can earn 100,000 bonus points after they spend $1,000 in purchases on their new Card in the first three months of Card Membership.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So.....now what is the thinking on this? I got the offer, I could refer Dh and get that deal (OMG 1k/100k points!) BUT we already both have the full complement of Hh cards and their bonuses- is this going to work? will he(we) get the deal and bonus if he's already done this Before?

OMG. That makes perfect sense.

ETA: Wasn't there some crack detective on r/churning who was really good at sniffing out alter egos? Something like dmonstar? You wouldn't happen to be him, would you?
Yeah DMonstar is amazing at that stuff! I really like the guy too. He was always great at calling people out on their crap and nefarious actions.

Pre-DISchurners days I used a couple of his links and 6 months later he unexpectedly sent me a $25 Amazon Card as a thank you after he took a big redemption. It was the nicest thing anybody ever did for me ok r/churning!

Does your husband still have his no-AF Hilton Card open? These supposedly do not include once per lifetime language so if his card is closed you could potentially refer him. I honestly am not well read on this whole situation because it has no affect on me so I’d research and ask for additional guidance here or on r/churning before taking any action :)

Phew. Finished off the AMEX Lowe's/Staples offers last night. Decided to go for it because all of my stuff has posted on the day I actually made the transaction, when it finishes pending. So these ones will probably be different, with my luck :P

Got all the gift cards we need for Christmas, then some Kroger GCs for gas and groceries. Then since we were close to the max on the cards we got in store, I added a few $25 Amazon GCs overall figuring it's better than my 5% back with Discover. And then tried for the $300 Visas online, so we'll see if RMN triggers. If so, we'll get $34 back altogether from RMN.
