Does anyone know if you can book SW with $ then apply points later and get a refund?
I doubt it but SW fares available now and my points from bonus haven't hit yet. Impatiently waiting.

No... they will keep them as credit.

I saw some DPs that the Walmart.com+Chase Pay offer applies to all Freedom and Sapphire cards, so I sent SMs to Chase to confirm in writing that each of my cards qualified for the promotion. They responded:

I can confirm that your account is eligible to get up to 10x Ultimate Rewards bonus points when using Chase Pay at Walmart.com. You may earn up to $250 additional cash back on eligible purchases. Please note that only Walmart.com transactions using Chase Pay as the method of payment are eligible.

and:

I wish to inform you that you can get up to 10x Ultimate Rewards bonus points when using Chase Pay at Walmart.com. You may earn up to $250 additional cash back on eligible purchases. Earn standard Ultimate Rewards points for each product and then up to 8.5% additional Ultimate Rewards points for Walmart.com purchases. Only Walmart.com transactions using Chase Pay as the method of payment are eligible. You need not enroll for this offer. The offer is from August 01, 2017 until August 31, 2017. The offer is available for the following products:
• Freedom
• Freedom Unlimited
• Sapphire
• Sapphire Preferred
• Sapphire Reserve

It looks like the promotional bonus is 8.5% additional UR points on top of what your card already earns. So FU gets 8.5% in addition to its 1.5% = 10x UR, but Freedom/CSP/CSR will top out at 9.5x UR, plus whatever additional UR if you go through Shop Through Chase.

I’m going to test some purchases for gift cards and see what I get.

DH and I have maxed out our Chase and we have some big spend coming up. DH got an offer through the mail for the Citi TY Premier for 50,000 points. We don't have any citi cards and from my research, this seems like it is a pretty good offer. It's my understanding that you can only have one card earning TY points (??), so I wanted to be sure that this seems like a good idea. From my research, we're not interested in the Citi Prestige card - we both have the CSR and I think we're (at least one of us, possibly both) going to keep it so I just don't see a need for 2 premium cards.

I guess I'm just wanting to be sure that I'm not missing something by going for the Premier offer of 50,000 points.

Thanks!

Thanks for the DP! What kind of gift cards and which card were you using?

I used Freedom, as that was the only email we got, and went with Walmart eGift Cards as a trial. One thing to point out is that in your quote above from Chase, they are stating "You may earn $250 additional cash back", but the email states the additional cash back is good on UP TO $250 in purchases.......two very different things.

I messaged them on Twitter about it as well and got confirmation my Sapphires are eligible. I think they've been answering the same question day in, day out for a couple days at this point. Probably have a copy-paste situation set up for it already!

I suspect CSP and CSR will also receive the 10x. I got the CFU email where it described the additional 8.5x plus the normal 1.5x but other people reporting getting the get 10x email for their Sapphire cards and I suspect their details say 9x plus the normal 1x because that's the only way their emails can advertise 10x.... My head is swimming after typing that. Gosh, they make it confusing...

Does anyone happen to know how the MK fireworks dessert party codes for Chase? It's under the "Dining" section of the Disney website but I'm wondering if it will code as a restaurant purchase for 5X on the Freedom. I also still need to buy Memory Maker - will that code as travel? The struggles of a points addict, lol.

Good luck with this........I have to call every time I make one of those prepaid dining reservations to have them manually credit the extra points because it codes as neither travel or dining. I frequently make two reservations with the intentions of cancelling one of them in short order. The best part is when they get done explaining to me that it isn't either of those categories and doesn't qualify for bonus points, I promptly point them to one of the reservations that I just refunded and show them that when Chase refunded it, they refunded it as regular points AND AS BONUS POINTS ALSO!! A lose-lose situation. They always have rectified the situation and given me credit, but I always have to call!!

I think the highest it's been is 60K, but normally I believe it's usually 40K. So I think 50K is a good deal.

Another stupid question- what does it mean when you say search incognito? I see people say this on this thread and the Swagbucks thread.

This is how I made an extra $100 the other day. The normal bonus on the Amex Blue Preferred is $150. Just as I was about to have DH apply, I stopped and opened an incognito window in Google Chrome (it's just another menu option right below opening a new regular window) and went to the Amex page, only this time it said the bonus was $250!

The deal with the TY bonus is you can only get it 2 years after opening or closing a TY card. So, unless you can make excellent use of the Prestige 4th night free benefit, I'd suggest get the Premier and keep it for 2 years. After 2 years, get the Prestige before you cancel the Premier. Then transfer premier points to the prestige account. Then you can close the premier.

was JUST about to say this... want to add as well, this card is just like the CSP/CSR... its $100 more technique with air travel credit. you can say its evens out if you apply lounge access and $100 TSA Pre credit as well.

also, 2nd year, you can earn quite a bit of points if you ask for a retention package. Prestige retention is +5x, so you can earn 7x on travel for 6 month, 35k max earning. should be pretty easy to earn all of it.

Also, how you guys get your coding down so fast from walmart.com purchase? mine is still pending for the past 2 days... :\

I am planning to employ this technique this year. If I get the retention offer, I will use it to pay my DVC dues which should code as travel. I'd be able to max that in one fell swoop.

Thank you! I just applied for it and got instant approval. Now I'm trying to login to see if I can request the card to be shipped sooner than their quoted 7-10 days.

Now to figure out everything about Citibank. I feel pretty good about Chase, but not so much about Citi lol!

Thanks again!

citi bank is a weird bank. ive had my Citi premier for close to 1.5 year.

That's odd; maybe it will move from pending later today. With the exception of the crazy Ink cards, my other Chase card transactions usually move from pending within 1 day. Hang in there.
