I love credit cards so much!

I used Freedom, as that was the only email we got, and went with Walmart eGift Cards as a trial. One thing to point out is that in your quote above from Chase, they are stating "You may earn $250 additional cash back", but the email states the additional cash back is good on UP TO $250 in purchases.......two very different things.

These are two very different things. It is either $2500 spent/$250 cash back or $250 spent/$25 cash back. It would be nice to know which is the real offer.

I just placed an order on Walmart.com using my Freedom Unlimited through Chase Pay for $250 in Hulu and Netflix gift cards. This basically prepays those services for a year and I will get $37.50 in travel rewards once I move those points to my CSR. Fingers crossed this works!

I really should follow up even though I doubt I could spend $2500 at Walmart.com this month.

OK, so I'm stumped on what is happening with Chase Pay through Walmart. I went on and was going to purchase a eGiftcard. I selected ChasePay at checkout and it prompted me to sign in with my password. Fine, I did that and it seemed to work fine since it bounced me back out to finalize my purchase. BUT, then I noticed that for the pay section it said paying with card ending in ####. Those 4 numbers are not the last 4 of my CSR and that is the only Chase card I have. Any clue what that is about? I signed into Chase.com to make sure I wasn't losing my mind, but, nope, that's the only card I have. I canceled out of the transaction until I can figure this out.

Do you have a Chase debit card? It also listed my debit card as a payment option when I just checked out.

No, Chase debit card either. The only other Chase account we have is my husband's car loan. I doubt they want to use that for Chase Pay. ;) I even looked at some of my other credit cards wondering if I had plugged a credit card into Walmart.com previously that it was using, but the last 4 didn't even match any of those. It's weird.

It did the same thing to me but it charged to the correct card and my extra points came through. Ordered $250 walmart gift card.

Apple Pay does something similar. It generates random card numbers with different last 4 digits for every transaction to "mask" your actual card number.

From my email fine print "This means that in addition to your every day 1.5% base, you'll earn an extra 8.5%, for a total of a maximum of 10% cash back. You'll earn the bonus until you spend a total of $250 in Walmart.com purchases"
Reads to me $250 in purchases, not in cash back.

FYI, Walmart is selling Uber e-gift cards at 10% off:
  • $100 Uber e-gift for $90
  • $50 Uber e-gift for $45
  • $25 Uber e-gift for $22.50
Might be good to stack this deal with the Chase Pay promotion and Shop through Chase for some people. Can be used for UberEATS too. Prior deals like this sold out pretty quickly, so move fast.

This is a good reminder. It didn't even occur to me that it might sell out. I purchased the $25 Uber e-gift yesterday as a test since I didn't receive the email from Chase about the 10%. I was waiting until the charge posted to see if I received the bonus points before ordering more. Decided to go ahead and get the $100 card since it's still a nice discount even without the bonus. Was glad to see the offer promoted at the top of the Chase UR page as I was navigating to the Shop through Chase portal.

There are several comments on DoC that say Chase SM also told them the promo was for up to $250 additional cash back. I'd err on the side of caution and think that these Chase reps are misinformed. I may end up going a little over $250 to see if I still earn any additional bonus points beyond that before going hog wild and buying $2,500 in Walmart gift cards on each card (HA!). But of course, I ordered one discounted Uber gift card, which went through; tried for more, and orders went straight to cancel.

Good luck with this........I have to call every time I make one of those prepaid dining reservations to have them manually credit the extra points because it codes as neither travel or dining. I frequently make two reservations with the intentions of cancelling one of them in short order. The best part is when they get done explaining to me that it isn't either of those categories and doesn't qualify for bonus points, I promptly point them to one of the reservations that I just refunded and show them that when Chase refunded it, they refunded it as regular points AND AS BONUS POINTS ALSO!! A lose-lose situation. They always have rectified the situation and given me credit, but I always have to call!!
Interesting. When I SM'd about one, I was told they don't control the categories, Visa decides it and Chase cannot change it.

Well hot darn I'm on a Walmart streak tonight, put my last order in for a visa gift card and put a Netflix electronic gift card on this one and it was delivered within 5 mins! Here's hoping my Visa cards make it in the mail next week! (Visa gift card note- I got a $0.25 discount on each of my last two orders by selecting the shipping option arriving one day later, idk if this was there on my first purchase a few days ago but it was there today.)
