I love credit cards so much!

Well I still don’t have my Southwest Points on my account for my Giftcards.com purchase and it’s been over the 15 days that they said it could take. I reached out and they said it’s in the “final stages” and should post in 3-5 days.

Good to know. It has only been 10 days since my Southwest purchase, so I'm not worried. However, it has been 16 days since the Alaska one.

...is this a trap? I feel like it's a trap.

Also I was approved for the SW Biz around 10/19 after applying around 10/12. That makes it too soon to hit up Chase again, right?

EDIT: Links not working currently.
In the same boat! Applied for SW Biz 10/10 and approved 10/17. I want to apply via this link so bad right now but would like to hear advice from others before pulling the trigger. Link worked fine for me.

Now that the Hyatt card is under 5/24 and I’m at 4/24 do I go for the CSP or the Hyatt card? I really wanted the Hyatt card for two nights a year when I spent 15k.

Hyatt card! Factoring in the bonus free night, putting spend on that card is worth it I think. I read where a good strategy is to hit the 15k spend right at the end of year 1, so that your 15k bonus night aligns with the annual free night award.

Have them. Not a lot of offers and not places I go/shop at often but potential for some.

Is it in the UR section of the app? Been trying to figure out where to look but I've got nothing different. Even updated my app today and everything looks exactly the same. I have the "new" labels on Apple and Deals options in the UR section but otherwise everything seems exactly the same.

It was my browser - opened fine in incognito mode and Internet Explorer. Duh, me. Still feel too nervous to apply, but I felt the same way about the BGR before it went away and I missed the boat on that one too. Sigh.

Total FOMO about this SW 50k offer. So I’m at 2/24. Last personal card app was about a year ago. Most recent app was 10/10 with a 10/17 approval for SW Biz. I’m not flying SW until 12/23. Somebody talk me into or out of applying tomorrow morning. I’d really enjoy a lower MSR to see if I could get the companion pass before our March trip.

It was obvious that it was there. DoC said it wasn't on everyone's app yet. It's things like 10% off maggianos, shari's and american eagle. Nothing that I found would be helpful with gc or anywhere I will shop or eat at within the next month.

By MileagePlus, I'm assuming you meant the United MileagePlus Club card? I don't have this card, so I can't really comment. @Calfan has posted about the Club card previously: https://www.disboards.com/threads/i-love-credit-cards-so-much.3528202/page-2323#post-59681667

I think the Explorer is a good United card to get.

Between whether to get a United co-branded card for the miles or another Chase (Ink) card, you can look at 1 UR = 1 UA mile because UR transfers to UA 1:1, but I hate the idea of transferring UR to UA unless absolutely necessary because UR is a lot more versatile than transferring to UA, and sometimes paying for cash seats through the Chase travel portal with UR is a better use of (less) points than redeeming UA miles for award seats.

The fact that the Explorer card often comes with its first year AF waived -- including this 65k offer -- is a real plus, because you can product change the Explorer card to a no fee United MileagePlus rewards credit card after your first year is up.

Whether the 65k bonus is a good one is debatable, because the standard offer was 40k/$3k/3 months, but United often had targeted offers for 50k and 60k (and last year, up to 70k) for only $3k MSR. I think about two weeks ago, United upped its public offer to 50k/$3k/3 months. This 65k offer is a tiered bonus, with 40k after $2k, and another 25k after you hit $10k in 6 months. So that's quite a bit more spend ($7k) for those extra 15k miles.

As for Club access, the Explorer card gets you 2 complimentary passes, but consider you also have Priority Pass lounge access on your CSR.

If you're also looking at the United Biz card, see if you're targeted for the 75k + AF waived offer: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-chase-united-business-explorer-75000-miles-af-waived/
Thanks. I do like the versatility of the UR better. I had the United card idea in the back of my head and this higher offer triggered FOMO. I am not targeted for the business offer and while my airport's Priority Pass lounge is separated from the United terminal, its not a huge deal breaker. I can still access it for JetBlue and SW which I prefer flying to WDW if I can.

I was going to hold off until Dec/Jan for the CIP just to make sure I could easily knockout the MSR. If I pushed it up to this month, I think I could still make it work, but would a CIP now and then United personal by Jan be pushing it too much with Chase? I am sure there will be other United offers and think I should just probably let this one go for now and concentrate on my original plan.

We've had the various United cards off and on over the last few years...what I CAN tell you is that we have United lounge passes that will likely go unused this year due to having Priority Pass through CSR, so I wouldn't weight lounge access too heavily in your decision if you have CSR/priority pass as Lain mentioned (I can't keep up with everyone's cards like he can!)
Yes, I have the CSR and used my Priority Pass two times already. I love it! Thanks for the honest feedback about the United Club pass. It seems that would be the "biggest" justification about the MileagePlus Club Card vs the Explorer card.

Eek! I went for the SW offer and was instantly approved! I figured the stress of worrying that the offer would be lower inflight in six weeks would be worse than the worry over meeting 4 MSRs with rolling deadlines.

Um, anyone have any tips for meeting MSR while also saving for a house?

Whaaat...? The BGR refers/self-refers for 20k MR?!

Busy day and just catching up with everything now. I saw that on Doctor of Credit but on my Amex app the BGR still not showing any referrals at all let alone 20k. Do you see it? If it is 20k I might rethink my Amex strategy again...

I seem to have lost the ability to generate referrals on all of my Amex business cards. I'm hoping it's a temporary glitch.

3:30 a.m. / another night of insomnia.

Checked my Mint. All my Amex accounts have "error updating." I swear, I get one brand of cards fixed and then another goes down. I spent last week fighting Barclays on Mint. #FirstWorldChurnerProblems

Everyone be careful today - the weather here in Ohio is literally terrible. There's a layer of ice coating everything!

Uni fans:
Any reason I can't smuggle my 2 year old into a room at Portofino bay? I read those are the largest rooms, though I'd prefer the theming of Royal Pacific. Her and I wouldn't go into the parks anyways, so no big deal on the EP part of it. It is for arrival night (late) and the following night...precruise.

I currently have a room at AKL which would allow her and I do to MK for the day but the others would have to uber to Uni and I'd book Royal pacific to get EP access for them. I'm considering just skipping WDW for this trip (gasp!) to make it easy and all stay at Portofino. I'm having a bit of FOMO the MK Christmas stuff.
I don't think it would be an issue for Portofino. Portofino is actually our favorite resort there. We are trying Sapphire Falls overs Thanksgiving but we don't plan to go to the parks this time. We are just trying to escape winter in MD.
