I love credit cards so much!

Personally, I love the GrAAvy phrase :) But, it will get you downvotes on reddit. As a matter of fact my next card ought to be showing up in the mail here in the next week! The only problems with this train is that after I spend the miles I feel panicked, like I absolutely must get back to X number of miles just in case I need to make an emergency trip to Europe or the Middle East or something! (Emergency: hotel deal of a lifetime that I don't want to miss :rolleyes1)

I feel the same way. We go through a lot of AA miles so when the balance dips I get panicky. They dipped after booking the Antarctica flights which wound up about 252K per person since there were no saver awards on the return. They are now back to a comfortable level and balance that has some cushion to it.

I honestly have NO idea what the rates are on any of my cards. Since we don't pay interest, I don't pay any attention. Is that bad LOL?

Nope, not bad. Neither do I. They could be 100% and I wouldn't know or care since we don't pay interest.

Yesterday was so busy I never even got on the board (blasphemy if not on vacation I know). Just finished catching up to everything late last night/early this morning. On the TSA precheck discussion: I just got on for my 12 year old. (Husband and I have had it for at least 3 years). Two locations in SLC with first appointment available this coming Tuesday. Just in case anyone wants to take a field trip (@Lain I can't believe you don't have it yet).

For those who have gotten TSA precheck for your 12-16 pre driver's license kiddos what did you use for the photo identification? @CyndiLouWho or @Calfan I think you both maybe mentioned it? Are they strict then that it needs to be the child's state identification or passport? If it is the case then I guess I will be getting her a passport first. I really don't want to deal with the DMV. Thanks.

For me, it's like buying an electric screwdriver. I don't have one. And on almost every day of the year, I don't have any need for it. So it's never really pressing to spend the money and time to shop for one. But on the rare occasion we buy furniture that needs assembly, don't I wish I had an electric screwdriver! Same with Precheck/GE. I don't ever realize how much I need it until I'm standing in line with the rabble.

At this point, since I have several cards with Precheck/GE credit, I may as well sign up my DD5 at the same time I get around to doing it.

I'm pretty sure we took DD's passport, her learners' permit and military (dependent) ID. Because I am nothing if not prepared :)

If I had the choice passport>DMV, too!

Anyone familiar with booking international flights via the Chase (CSR) Travel Portal? I am looking at American Airlines flights from NYC->London for next August, and it is showing me flights for $352 round trip in economy. The fare class says O which AA's website says is a regular discounted economy fare, not Basic Economy. But when I choose flights and add them to my cart, it says:
  • Economy Class (O)
  • Carry-on - No fee
  • 1st Checked Bag - $60.00*
  • 2nd Checked Bag - $100.00*
  • *per passenger, paid upon check-in
So is this actually a Basic Economy fare? I will call Chase Travel in the morning but wanted to see if anyone here had run into this before and knows what type of fare this actually is. I don't really care about the checked bag fee but I need to make sure I can choose our seats in advance since we'll be flying with two kids.
AA now allows basic economy passengers to bring a carry on. You just can’t pick your seats and you still board last.

We took DS11’s passport when we did his GE.

Dd used her passport--she was 14 at the time.

Pretty sure that under 12 (?) can't get precheck on their own - no need because a parent can bring them through the precheck line with them. Global entry everyone needs, even the little ones. So when my DH forgot to put his traveler # into his reservation, I took the little one through precheck with me and he was on his own with the peasants. We got precheck for us and our older one (before I knew about the magic of credit cards), and we are in the process of getting GE for me, DH and the little one.

how long after your AF did the points post? DH got the AF on 10/1.
My AF posted on 10/1 for my Plus and Premier. my statement posted on 10/1 and my points were there on 10/2. My other one has the statement today so I’ll be checking tomorrow on SW for my points and then I’ll SM to close it. I want to see those sweet points first.

Not sure. DS has a passport. Has since age 1, he is 9 now. We renewed earlier this year in anticipation of cruising from Vancouver next year.

Get going! My DH is the biggest procrastinator ever when it come to this stuff. I gave him 2 jobs last year (last year!). Get passports renewed, get GE. He downgraded his CSR last year without ever using the GE credit. He finally got passports renewed earlier this year, and applied for GE last week. If he can do it, you can. Lol

I got an AMEX offer to upgrade my Hilton to an Aspire with 150k point bonus. Just thinking about it though and wanting to be sure that an upgrade would not take my last */24...

Another silly question. I recently closed my SW and I do see the AF already showing as a credit on my account. Though I still got the bill but I don't have to send a payment? Just don't want to ruin my credit...Especially now while doing this hobby.

Upgrades don’t count as new cards, jealous!

I would think so... you could
1) SM Chase & ask. Use the SM for any credit dispute that might arise.
or
2) pay it and then call Chase and ask for a check for the AF refund

Went back to CVS with my Passport today...denied that I had reached my limit. Reddit user had done this fine yesterday. It is for sure 24 hours and not next day like the slip that prints states. I'll hit for one each, Thurs-Sat if it is still running. Surprised the system picked up on my Passport as I had used my license yesterday. Maybe it is matching name/DOB/Zip. Oh well.

As an update from yesterday, Dosh seems to pick up the Amex for credit at CVS and not my Visa that was linked, yet it (Visa) worked for 3% back at Exxon right after.

Daily limit is now $5.

All these changes are almost comical, if the whiplash weren't so tragic for those in the middle of CVS runs. I hope this caught you in time!

Dosh: Earn 5% Cashback At CVS ($5 Daily Limit & Giftcard Exclusion Added)

Yes 12 and under is ok to go with parents with precheck. Once they turn 13 they need their own or have to go through regular line. While I am a mean mom sometimes I don’t want to send her through without it like a peasant. :)

I have some time since she doesn’t turn 13 until August. Maybe I will just get all three of the girls passports now. That way we will be in good shape for a crazy good deal/big trip to spend my skymiles and newly acquired MR’s!

Just booked a rental car for our trip to Puerto Rico in February. It was only $107 for 4 days, and I'll use the CSR travel credit to cover it. Not exactly free, since I pay the $450 AF for the card, but it's free-ish. :)

I also switched hotels based on recommendations from Trip Advisor so now I'm only using 140K Marriott points vs the 165K I was using before. And the resort fee & parking at the new hotel are both $5 less per night, so my SPG Lux credit will stretch a little further. Even though this trip is still 4 months away, I'm getting excited for it. It's going to be very different from the types of trips we usually do so I'm hoping this opens some doors for us and we want to continue to try new things.

We got our kids passports last month even though we don't plan to travel out of the country until we go to Canada next July. I did it when I did partly because once they start school its impossible to go to the application center during the week, and partly because I want to get them Global Entry before we go to London next August, and they need the passports before they can get GE.

We flew with TSA Precheck for the first time when we went to CA this past summer, and I will never fly without it again. If I ever fly with someone who doesn't have it, I will be that mean person who leaves my companion in the peasant line while I go through Precheck.

I see others have responded, but just confirming that we used passports for our kids. They have had them since they were 6 and 8. We got GE in 2014 or 2015.
