jealous of your CIP... thinkin if i should go for it or not, but heavily leaning towards no.

I just finished my SPG 2nd bonus... waiting for the 10k to kick in... been using plastiq to make payments to my health insurance to make the minimums on my SPG... missed out a huge chunk of the 3x travel with CSR cuz of it... :\

Where are you at with Chase? If under 5/24, why are you leaning towards 'no' on the CIP?

cuz its be my 2nd business card. not under 5/24 either. haha. the categories arent too good for me since travel is covered by my CSR/Premier card. I dont ship or use advertisement much. only thing i could use it for MSin with plastiq but who knows how long that will last.

I don't love the CIP catergories. I will be downgrading the card but I am pleased with the 80k bonus :cutie:

@Lain My CIP 80k are finally pending!!! Woot! I loved seeing those points :)

Thanks for mentioning this! I just checked the Chase UR site after giving up waiting for paint to dry for a few days and see 95k UR points pending on my next statement! I'm also loving this bonus!

I hit the $5k minimum spend in a month largely on rent, my wife's and my student loans, cell phone and utilities bills, and lots of gift cards through PPDG and Cashstar. So nearly all my minimum spend earned 3x (~15k UR). I'm okay with the CIP because it's sufficiently different from the CSR, and for some reason Plastiq is coding the same kind of payments differently between these two cards. I realize I'm missing out on using Ink Cash and earning 5x for gift cards, but that's discretionary spending. I don't know of any other card right now coding so much of my recurring expenses as 3x. As long as the CIP earns 3x on rent and student loan payments through Plastiq, this card is a keeper for me. But certainly, Plastiq is very YMMV and who knows how long it'll last.

heh, 90% of my spendings on the ink+ are gift cards... :P

It definitely sounds like the CIP is a keeper card for you as long as the coding is working in your favor.

I just don't feel I have enough spend to make the AF on the CIP worthwhile. My last mortgage did not earn 3x. I can earn 3x for travel with my CSR. My internet and cell phone are earning 3x but I *think* I can earn 5x with the Ink Cash. I buy GC's from the grocery store using my Amex BCP and will continue that since it's far more convenient than a separate trip to an office supply store, and combined with fuel points, saves about 20% off. I do not regret getting the CIP at all. The sign up bonus is worth it. I'll just downgrade when I can :)

My 50k points on CSP are now showing as pending as well!

Question for all: DH was denied SW card for too many accounts opened in 24 months. This happened in May as well when he applied for CSP. He was AU on 3 cards when I checked his Trans Union report, so I removed him. Obviously there are still listed because otherwise he is 3/24. I'm going to have him call Chase recon. Anyone know if recon would be open today? How long before those AUs drop off?

And Happy Independence Day!

I have never booked airfare right when the booking window opened but this time I'm ready! Do both your departure & return dates need to be open to book? I need to book June 2-9, do I have to wait to see June 9 open for return on round trip? Or do most book 2 one way tix?

It depends on the airline. Some airlines charge RT number of points for one ways. I always book one way awards. If I were to wait for flights to be available on my return, any first class available seats would be gone for my departure.

I have a question about Chase bonuses. I know you can't receive a bonus on the same card within 24 months. Is the 24 month limit based on when you opened the card, or when you actually received the bonus? For example, I opened a Chase Premier SW on 6/30/15 but didn't meet the spend and earn the bonus until August 2015. That card has now been closed, but I understand I can apply for it again. Am I good to get the bonus again since it's been more than 24 months since it was first opened, or do I need to wait until after August to wait 24 months from when I first earned the bonus? Thanks so much!

How long between meeting spend and pending?

Not @wendow, but here's my DP. My first statement should have closed on 6/30 or 7/1, but hasn't yet. I hit $5k on 6/29, transactions posted 6/30, but I didn't check for or notice the 80k bonus all weekend. Checked again last night, 7/3, and 95k UR points (signup bonus + spend + category bonuses) showed pending. Also noticed the $95 AF posted on 7/1.

This is what TPG says:

The bonus offer is tied to your application, so your eligibility is determined when that application is submitted. If you aren’t eligible when you apply, then you won’t be eligible later, so you have to wait 24 months from when you actually received points or miles from the previous bonus offer. . . .

Technically, you could still apply for the card now, but you wouldn’t be eligible for the bonus. ... I think it’s best to wait until you can earn the bonus.

I'm not looking for first class but the super saver on AA is 12.5k miles, which would be great. It looks like right now I could book 5/30/2018 but for return fares, nothing is open.

Wow, instant approval for CIP; just went 0/30 yesterday, but avoided applying since Chase's systems were down for the most part. Was also fully prepared for the 30 day message and having to recon since most DPs seem to indicate instant approvals for the CIP were uncommon, so this was a nice surprise for the 4th :)

80K here I come...also used a family member's referral link, so an effective 100K

hmm, i think u might be able to call in and ask for a 100k match. i forgot how it works but i know a referral was necessary.

Going to SM Chase today because my $2k spend is now all posted on my SW card (signed up for 40k pts, so they'll match). The 40k points should come around the 15th when my statement closes, and we'll have the CP! I'm so excited. We've got WDW in September (and January, though the only plan there right now is going), and SoCal/DLR next April.

I'm thinking about the Marriott card for the 80k points, to use for the Dolphin either in January or maybe next September for an anniversary trip. 80k+3k spend = 27,660ish SPG points, right? I thought about the SPG business, but my fiance is less than excited about the business cards. He's still worrying about the SW business card I got. So I figured this is almost as many points, for $2k less spend, and his peace of mind. We are still new to the hobby. Plus we've got some SPG points left now, and I think that'd put us around the 5 nights (with the free one). We could also switch some 1pt spending over to those cards.

That would be my last 5/24 slot... I've still got about $7k of definite spend between wedding/car repair in the next few months, so I'm thinking about points that could go towards hotels (or in-branch approval for CSP to bypass 5/24 would be awesome). Any recommendations for that? I've got CSR, SPG, and no fee Barclay. I'm thinking either flexible, or easy to book awards. It doesn't need to be fancy, but the earliest we'd be looking at planning any of the weekends would be October or November, and that would be ambitious (also open to any weekend trip suggestions :) I'm short on ideas right now). I'm hoping to keep my fiance from applying for anything, so we could do the CP in his name when mine is expiring. And if I give him anymore cards without canceling anything, he might cry!

I'm thinking with the CP and some hotel points, we could do some weekend trips next year. My fiance doesn't get a lot of vacation time, but weekend trips would be more doable and affordable with free flights/hotel.

I'm having a points dilemma also...
We were going to use the CSR 100k points for flights, but now we've got the CP and those points. Originally I was planning on booking a night at Port Canaveral with my fiance's Barclay points (he's got about $250). Now we have all of these UR points with no definite use, and we added another night to our trip at Universal. So I'm over here like... do I do this points combo plus $30 oop? do I do all points but a combo of Barclay and UR? do I do all UR points and save Barclay? Churning problems, right?
