K, so you have a lot going on here :)
2. Plus, my billing cycle closes in 2 days, and I have to decide like, by tomorrow, if we are going to do this.
Not sure why this is so. You have 30 days from when your AF posts to cancel the card for a full refund. You have up to 40 ish days to PC the card after AF posts for a refund, and there had been reports of people getting pro-rated refunds after that, but not sure if that's still a thing. Since your AF hasn't posted yet, unless your October 1 date is a type and you meant September instead but even still, you have more than 2 days to decide
:)

I was not aware of this detail, so thank you!

There are instructions in each thread:

Basically do [CardName](PasteLink). Also you’ll want to use Old Reddit for this as New Reddit is garbage and screws things up lol.
I think New Reddit was my downfall. I was cocky and thought I would be able to figure it out anyway. NOPE! Old Reddit saved the day.

The instructions are missing a few slashes and things on the new Reddit version- is that a typo or is that accounting for the way new Reddit formats things?

Ok, so the AMEX Platinum offer requires a $5000 spend in 3 months. The CSR requires $4000 in 3 months, so I can't do them both at once. I will do the CSR first, since I want to get that all squared away before my AF posts on Oct 1. Then, once we hit the minimum spend on that one, I'll upgrade the AMEX to the platinum.

Sounds like a good plan! Did you figure out your referral link? Definitely download the mobile app and try there. I am able to generate CSR link from it.

I am debating whether or not to close my account and have DH open one in his name instead. The thing is, we have a bunch of bills autopaid monthly on this card. That would be a pain to change all that stuff over.

This is why I would PC the card to a CFU at least, since it's 1.5 points per dollar. You'd maximize your bills and because the number would stay the same you wouldn't need to change anything. You'd be missing out on a ton of points by moving them to your DH's CSR unless you need them to meet min spend.

OOH. Hey. I think I have a maybe good idea so someone tell me if i am wrong:

My BFF had the toughest time getting a Marriott Biz approved (we need those 100k points for Hawaii in April). They went back on forth on the documentation they required and the last round of bogus paperwork requests finally expired before she could get it in. All of this with a legitimate business mind you! Anyhow, is there any reason why I shouldn't have her do a SPG Biz instead since the current offer is 100k? AF is waived and I think it would be refreshing to not have to fight for approval.

Also: @SouthFayetteFan what is the format for the links in the dischurners group? I can't figure out how to make mine look pretty like everyone elses :upsidedow

Has your BFF gotten any Marriott cards or bonuses within the past two years?

The new restrictions post-8/26 would make BFF ineligible for the SPG Biz if:

Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express® Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.

Welcome offer not available to applicants who (i) have or have had the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase or Marriott Rewards Business Credit Card from Chase in the last 30 days, (ii) have acquired The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase or The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase in the last 90 days, or (iii) received a welcome offer in the last 24 months on The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase or The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase
.

BFF currently have or have had any of the following in the last 30 days:
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card
  • Marriott Rewards Business credit card

BFF acquired any of the following in the last 90 days:
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card
  • Marriott Rewards Premier credit card

BFF received a welcome offer for any of the following in the last 24 months:
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card
  • Marriott Rewards Premier credit card
Otherwise, the SPG Biz has a higher 100k Marriott points offer, but also a higher MSR of $5k/3 months. The Marriott Biz has a 75k Marriott points offer but only $3k MSR in 3 months. As you noted, the SPG Biz has the first year AF waived; the Marriott Biz has a $99 AF not waived.

I'd also note that with the delays in Chase posting signup bonuses, even though the MSR is lower and presumably easier to meet on the Marriott Biz, it could take 1-2 months after statement close to see those points. Whereas, the welcome bonus on the SPG Biz will post within 3-5 days of hitting MSR; no need to even wait for the statement to close.

Keep in mind that if BFF hasn't gotten any Marriott cards in the past two years, and therefore qualifies for all of Amex's SPG cards, dipping her toes into Amex SPG cards will disqualify her from the Chase Marriott cards for at least the next two years. After 8/26, it's basically choose Amex SPG or Chase Marriott. I've made a case previously that if you're starting from a blank slate, get the Amex SPG cards first. There are 3 SPG cards with current bonuses totaling 275k Marriott points (of course, 2 of them are personal cards that'll count against 5/24) vs. Chase's 2 Marriott cards totaling 150k Marriott points. Amex's bonuses are once per lifetime too, so once you get them there's no looking back, and you've started the clock towards getting the Marriott cards in 24 months, assuming you're under 5/24 then.

Ugh. Finally called SW for a retention offer, she said since my bonus RR already posted there is no retention offer available. I'll have to think about whether I want to keep it or not. I could keep it and refer DH so I'd get the referral bonus since I do plan to have him pick up 2 cards in Dec/Jan.

Wow..guess I got lucky because I called as soon as my statement with the RR bonus points and $69 fee closed last month....they offered me a $35 statement credit...maybe try calling again

I wouldn't say it's bad if that's what you want to do with them. I believe a few people have reported doing the same lately so you'd be in good company. It's all what's best for you.

You have two options now to purchase. If you have a Freedom flavor card you can buy them from the new UR portal powered by Expedia. You'll have the same options as if you bought from the Expedia site including promo days or discounts. Or if you find the ones you want are a better value using a Sapphire or Ink card for the increased point value, then you want to call the travel line and ask for cruise department to buy directly from Disney. ( And ask to buy them from Disney)

I guess it's all very confusing for us novices! I don't have any designs to go to Japan or Hawaii or many of the other places I see people going to. I could transfer the points to Southwest, but our upcoming flights are already bought so I thought it might be a good idea to put the points towards my husbands park hopper.

I just refuse to acknowledge that new Reddit exists. LOL!

I would definitely HUCA on that answer, lol!

Another DP to follow @Judique re: getting a Marriott GC to trigger the offer and Lux credit. I got the GC on Saturday and the $60 Amex offer posted today. Now waiting to see if the Lux credit posts in the coming days, but I just may duplicate this on our other Amex cards where we have the Marriott offer. Will be handy to use for resort fees and any room charges we have for any upcoming stays.

DOH! I forgot about the new rules :sad2:. Yes she got the Premier Plus about 2.5 months ago and will meet the spend in another 2 weeks. :worship: Thank you for stopping me from making a very dumb mistake! I knew that was too good to be true. So I guess it's back to the Marriott Biz round 2....unless I can convince her to apply for the SPG under her P2 (I mean husband :teeth:)

Use the points however it works out best for your family. While I’m trying to accumulate points for my husbands 60th birthday trip in 2020, I’ve also transferred UR points to SW to book a flight and have booked a hotel room with URs through Chase... to save some cash now

One more thing to keep in mind if BFF activates P2 for the SPG cards. Marriott’s new transfer rules limit points transfers to 100k per year. So P2 would be able to transfer only 100k to BFF this year. There’s also a $10 fee per transfer unless P2 is Gold or Platinum.

Does anyone know how fast Staples email delivery gift cards come? Debating ordering one for Michael's once I'm in the store...

Boooooo... I logged into AMEX and my SPG personal had a banner to enroll in a spending campaign. I thought awesome, they finally gave me one of those spend $3k get 10k pts type of offers since I just passed my AF and didn't cancel. But when I clicked to go to enroll, the image wouldn't load so I couldn't see the details. I just hit enroll now anyways, check my enrollment email - 1xt point per dollar on restaurant and grocery stores through Nov 30th. :badpc:

But you didn't have to spend 3K to get that did you??

Definitely go read more on the DVC forums here, but in my research, it seems Aulani is a very bad buy unless you are using almost every point there. Buying Aulani to use mostly at WDW and only occasionally at Aulani is a very unnecessarily expensive proposition - just look at the dues.

Agree with @striker1064 - Buying Aulani may be a great idea for some but if you are just going to visit on occasion, and you want to go to WDW mostly, buy at WDW at the resort you will prefer to stay at.
And, if you have points at SSR that you paid $75 for, keep those points!!! At 7 months points are points.

What resort do you enjoy most at WDW? That is where you should consider purchasing. You will find that you will probably develop a pattern of stays over time.

Not that fast, unless you're shopping for a while :) I ordered Lowe's in Jul that took 3 hours to arrive, which totally worked for me as I just needed them by the next day for a sale ending. When I asked for that, most responses were around 2 hours. So I wouldn't plan on it arriving by checkout unless you were going to be there a while.
