I love credit cards so much!

Hm, interesting thought. My guess is it stacks like AmEx offers do, since they're both keying in on the same charge. But, I have no idea how AmEx does their statement credit as card benefits - if that looks for refunds normally. Then again that sounds like too much IT work for them, given how sign up bonuses seem to only calculate positive charges, and not net charges, automatically. That'd be a lot of + 300, - 300, - 60, + 60 where they'd charge you $60 to balance out the credit from their credit...

I'm probably over-analyzing; I think you're right and they stack. I'm just gonna charge $300 and see what happens.

When my Hilton points aren’t worth anything to begin with, how can I ever be dissapointed?? I mean, there’s nowhere to go but up! Am I right?

:rotfl2::rotfl::rolleyes1:duck:
I know people say stuff like this but I can't wrap my head around it. Maybe because you are calculating how much each point is worth or something? I never really do that for any points. All I know is our hilton points get us many, many free nights per year....and free nights on the beach make me quite happy. :)

First of all, this thread moves SO fast!

I still haven't pulled the trigger on applying for a CIP myself, and now I have a different question.

I pulled DH's Experian report today. Apparently, about two weeks ago he went to Peebles to buy a shirt for a funeral and forgot his wallet at home and "reopened" the card he used to have at Peebles to charge it. Of course, on the credit report, it's showing opened as of August 2018 :(. It has an embarrassing $350 limit haha! As a reminder, he has a CIP (02/18). I'm thinking that maybe I should apply for a personal card in his name to help boost his credit score? The last time I checked it was around 720ish. I would like for it to be a little higher. Thoughts on this? Right now the only thing on his credit report is the dang Peebles card.

I'm considering 3 options if I decide to add a personal card for him:
  • Wait until December and apply for SW pers & biz to get the CP for 2019 & 2020 (we wouldn't be able to use the CP until summer so I don't need to have the points post in Jan).
  • CSP
  • Hyatt
Otherwise, I will probably refer myself from his CIP (105,000 UR total). There's also a 95% chance DH will open a new LLC by the end of the year. So i'll probably get a CIP for both of us for that business next year (210,000 UR total - if my math is right. Can you refer back and forth like that?) I would space these apps out over a year or so with the goal to obtain the points by this time next year (or a little later). Does anyone see any issues with this? I feel like I should add personal cards in there somewhere?? But maybe not?

Quoting myself to say that I took the plunge and was instantly approved for the CIP for myself. 105,000 UR headed my way :jumping1::jumping3::Pinkbounc:cheer2::banana:

I was approved for double the credit limit DH was when he applied. So i'm thinking I may need to open a personal card in his name before the end of the year to get more revolving debts on his credit report to eventually boost his score a little. Just to be 100% sure; the 1/30 and 2/30 rules only apply per person right - not per household?

I called Disney last night... there are no good rooms available. We were really hoping to stay at a monorail resort, and the only thing available at $650 rooms. Not happening. I'm going to keep the flights just in case something opens up. But at this point we aren't going.
I'm having a hard time with my Dec pre-cruise room too. Seems Disney just stays full these days. I may just go down for a night or 2 with DD2 and do MK, then take DME back to the airport Friday afternoon and stay at the Hyatt MCO that night. Rest of kids and DH can fly down Fri after school and meet us at Hyatt. Off to DCL sat morning. They bigger kids just won't get to do MK this trip. They will be sad, but it isn't like they haven't been a bazillion times anyway.

:jumping1:
I got my reservation changed!

The rep was like, it's $1.91 less and the Disney rep told me it might get applies as a resort credit, but it might not since you'll have to give them your card at check in... so then it would be refunded to us and it should get refunded back to you then. And I'm thinking, I don't even care, call it paying $2 for the extra night :rotfl:

Now to make sure my boss doesn't have a heart attack over me asking for an extra day off. I could either do a half day and come in after our flight lands... or just take the day off. Yeah that sounds good.
You'll have to let me know how Frontier goes. They are soooo much cheaper for our cruise...even with fees. I just know the reviews...not so good. :(

Do you have any rollover nights showing in your detail breakdown? Like the Marriott Biz I was sure you got your nights at card open because that's what gave you Silver Elite status, and then each card anniversary year there after you got nights. So if you opened it in Dec, I'd have expected you to have 5 rollover nights in your total this year (need 10 to make Silver for 2017, anything left after making status is eligible for rollover) I wish I'd have paid more attention last year but when I calculated all our rollover, having the 5 nights from the card is the only way it added up. But if all the bloggers are to be believed, you should be getting your anniversary nights late Dec and may make it? You didn't upgrade yet to the Premier Plus, right?

I have no rollover nights showing. So, if silver elite is 10, I should have 5 rollover nights? From last year?

I'm new to Marriott status so have no clue. I wonder if since I was so close to the end of the year, the nights just didn't post?

My account says 5 paid nights and then credit card 18 nights - 15 for the Biz and 3 from spend. I don't know. I'll finish my SPG biz $1K spend today and then go from there. I think it's possible to hit platinum based on my plans with the 15 nights posting in December.

So, I just booked an AS award flight on Cathay in business from South Africa to SanFran with a week and half stopover in Hong Kong where I'll use my 7 night Marriott cert next year... oh. my. gosh. ...My first big, international award booking. I'm still processing that I just did that, when I'm thinking a bit clearer I'll come back and lay out some of the process details in case anyone else is looking at using AS miles to book Cathay.

Sapphire UR Portal has been updated and I see Disney hotels!
At least CC, WL, OKW, BRV in addition to the Poly,

It is still being funky.

I logged in under DH's CSR and only poly showing still. Logged in under my CF and shows many options. All this was for the same dates. Wish they'd figure it out.

Congrats! You got a unicorn!!
It is per person, not per household.

This is so weird. Me too, I hate calling in for a room only booking. Though if I'd had that option today, I might not have noticed that Pop was now discounted!

Wow that sounds incredible! I'm looking forward to reading all about it :-)

I have a dumb question regarding this.... since I booked a nights and flights package, how would I know if my hotel is cheaper pointswise now than it was before? It's Marriott Wailea...how do I calculate the points for a 7 night cert.?

The Marriott Wailea went up to 50K/nt (40K off peak/60K peak in 2019) from the pre-8/18 Cat 8 40K/nt. If you attached your (pre 8/18) Cat 8 travel package to your booking by 8/18 then you are golden. But if you need to make changes to your plans, your 7 nt certificate is only good at a new Cat 5 hotel (and the Marriott Wailea is a Cat 6 now).

If it is a straight up 7 nt points booking, it would cost 300,000 Marriott points (6 x 50K, plus one free night). Now a travel package for the new Cat 6s is 510,000 points (for 110K air miles).

Thanks! That photo makes me so happy so I thought it would be a good avatar:)

Yes. He’s 13 now—but he’s a big kid. My mom says he’s like a puppy—you look at his hands and feet (size 13 now) and know he’s going to keep growing for a while.
Wow! 13, holy cow. And size 13 feet. DH wears size 13 and always has a hard time finding shoe choices.
Go Bears!
