I love credit cards so much!

I chose to use the CSR over UR for this exact reason.

*But, also because I booked through Costco. If you have a Costco membership, it's wonderful in that the reservation is charged only when you return the rental and by the rental agency, NOT Costco. Even better, you can cancel up until literally the time of the reservation. I canceled one the morning of after we decided we no longer needed the car that day. Also, you can cancel and rebook as many times as you like if rates keep changing, no fees or anything.

I book through them as well..usually book Alamo for the free second driver

No Hilton Biz card for me:sad::sad::sad:

I got a pop-up saying "based on your history with American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this welcome offer". It then asked me if I wanted to proceed, which of course I did not! So my pop-up was different than the one that @LynnTH received, and mine was a lot more definitive.

Boooooo!!!

This is odd. Other than the Biz Plat and Green, what else have you opened/closed? I would bet that I've done more damage than you on the card front. I've had the SPG Biz, Personal Plat, Biz Plat, Green, and now Hilton Biz, all since April. Granted, I had two legacy cards with them (ED and BCP) for nine years, according to the homepage lol.

If you've had other cards, as @Lain mentioned, have you put any spend on them after meeting the MSR and getting the bonus?

Thank you! SUPER helpful info :) Now I'm torn...I just thought now that I could pay with my CSR and instead of using the points I could get a chunk of my travel credit that way...Hmmmm

I don't have the CSR. But I always book my rentals through Autoslash.com and pay with CSP. No money is due at time of booking and if rental rate decreases, autoslash will automatically rebook (if it is with same rental company) or notify you with choice to rebook (if with a different rental company). They accept discount and loyalty programs and discounts through Costco, AAA, etc. I have always gotten excellent deals.

Yeah - I think @LynnTH had a message that said "May not be eligible"...yours sounds super scary!

Actually, the second driver is always free no matter which agency you use, if booked through Costco. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I used Enterprise during our June DL trip.

It's great, isn't it? There's no downside at all to booking early.

Actually, I think that is what mine said. But being dumb... I took it too mean that "I may" not get the bonus if not approved so I hit yes and then got approved. So far (per the chat) the bonus shows attached to my card so hopefully it all goes well.... ( I think I read too fast and just read what I wanted too...) I should know better.

These are my cards:

JetBlue Plus - 1/18
SPG Biz - 3/18
CIC - 5/18
Amex Biz Plat - 7/18
Amex Biz Green - 8/18

Seems like it's a velocity issue. They see you've signed up for 3 AMEX biz cards in 5 months and maybe aren't too keen about it? Either way...bummer :(

I just self-referred myself for the SPG Lux, and was approved.

Amex gave the option to get the card number now, but I declined since I've still got a slog on the Hilton Biz and Biz Platinum. Amex says the card will arrive in 3-5 business days, but some folks on r/churning report Amex is saying the SPG Lux is being expedited to everyone.

No ineligibility pop-up warning, even though I've opened 5 Amex cards (MB Plat, SPG Personal, Hilton Biz, Biz Plat, Biz Green) since April and now a 6th Amex card this year with the SPG Lux.

The site isn't letting me add the card to one of my existing accounts, though, and I don't really want to create another login (even if Amex can merge accounts later) now that the Amex Offers multi-login, multi-tab trick is dead.

This should take me out of the game for a few months. Player 2's getting called up next.

What else...?

I need more coffee. :surfweb:

My card arrived this morning. Plastic.

So I've been trying to decide how to redeem my Marriott Cat 1-5 (now 1-4) N+F certificate, and i found the Springhill Suites Anaheim Maingate that I think I want to use in Oct. It has good reviews, is a pretty new property, is listed as .6 miles from DL, has free breakfast, and can fit 6 in the room. Has anyone stayed here and can offer any advice if this is a good place to stay?

I went ahead and booked it today, well sort of. First I called the number listed on the Marriott website that it says to call to attach to N/F cert. Well, that number is actually SPG and although she tried, the rep wasn't able to book it, and said she'd transfer me to a Marriott rep who could. Well, she hung up on me instead. Ok, no problem, I call Marriott. 35 minutes later am talking to a rep, who is in the process of booking for me, and all of a sudden am disconnected. Ok, fine, hang up and call back. 25 minutes later talk to a different rep, who books the resort for me, bu says he can't actually attach the cert for approx. a month, but at least the hotel is reserved and won't be booked up. Great! Well, not really because I looked online tonight and he actually reserved 9/13-9/20 instead of 10/13-10/20! :badpc::badpc::badpc:

Assuming I can get this straightened out tomorrow and get the right dates booked, it will be a pretty sweet last minute trip. We''ll be gone a week and kids will only miss 3 days of school (kids are kind and 2nd grade so I think it's ok), SW had flights from Wichita to SNA for approx 17k RT with convenient flight times, which meant only 34k because of my CP, and DM can use her SW points and CP (which expires end of this year) for free flights too! DH will be staying home for this one as he can't miss work, and really doesn't mind not going either. Now to research DL as I've only been there one about 8 years ago. Any tips or good research spots are appreciated! :)
Let us know how it goes.... I need to call and switch our attached certificate.

Thanks that’s good to know....I usually stick with Alamo in Florida since they only charge the fee for tolls on days you actually go through one not the entire rental

Oh, you should have taken the instant card option! Sometimes Amex's website errors out and you don't get it, so Amex gives you a statement credit or points as compensation.

You won't be able to add the card yet. Amex is finicky. Save that email and wait a few hours (or possibly as long as tomorrow), and you should be able to add it.

I took the instant card option. But, just got the card this morning anyway - did not ask for expedited delivery, so haven't tried to add it yet. I'll work on it later this afternoon. Plastic. Plastic. (That's actually a good thing - I've been carrying my daughters Ritz and that thing is a weapon! (Daughter had surgery and just got out of the hospital yesterday, so I've been busy.

Yes, the second driver is free with Costco! We did find that when an agency has a free spouse option, the Costco second driver can be used to get three drivers. This worked out well for us on a trip with my parents with Avis. Most of the time the Costco option is enough and we can use the cheapest company. My new preference is any company where I can go to the car with no need to interact with anyone!

Okay... was approved for the Hilton Biz. MSR Working on:
Amex BGR - 20K bonus spend - $2K left of the $5K
DH's SPG Biz - $1K - Haven't started
Amex Hilton Biz - $3K - Haven't started

I can't believe our Chase cards have been neglected for for so long.

Congratulations!

I’m a bit envious of the $3k MSR on the Hilton Biz, but great deal for you!
