I love credit cards so much!

Did we know Hilton Amex self referrals are a thing? I noticed on my Hilton Ascend referral today I can scroll to the bottom and there are referrals for the other Amex Hilton cards that will also "reward my friend" just like with the Amex Biz Charge cards.

This makes a lot of sense to me if you have options within a line. You're being the mouthpiece for their product but not everyone will want the exact same product as you have if there's options. So where's the incentive to talk up the product to everyone if you're limited to only people who share your exact wants or needs? This would fulfill both, you're incentivized to talk about all the products and AmEx potentially gets a bigger pool from the additional word of mouth.

That said, I can't imagine that if it worked for the charge cards why it wouldn't work for these. Not quite a fun, I guess, due to the CC limits; but still pretty nice.

Got my CSP in the mail today. Time to start using it! I have to admit, I like the way it looks much better than the CSR. Too bad I won't be keeping it.

OMG! Me too! I said the same thing, briefly tried to figure out how to keep it. I wondered if I PC'd it, would it still keep working after the new card arrived. That's one way to get a metal CFU
Also thought about explaining to the phone rep how I liked the look of the CSP but preferred the CSR, so can I PC it to the CSR, then downgrade the CSR to a CFU
(and that's totally why I double dipped them, to put this convoluted scheme into action ::yes::)

Can someone explain how the /ChurningReferrals world. How many Karma points do I need to post and how do I know my Karma points?
There was discussion of pulling Karma requirements from rChurning but it doesn't look like they've put anything together for that yet. I can't find any discussion on it over there. IF that's the case anyone can still post.

These are both great ideas! Now I have to think about what I should ultimately do: a prettier CSR or a metal CF. :scratchin Good thing I have a whole year to decide.

I don't envy you your decision! My nerves couldn't take it anymore the last couple days either! I upgraded to a cert I know I'll use and the remaining miles in my accounts were sent off to AS yesterday. Peace of mind ensued.

I wouldn't transfer the points just because you're turned off the brand though. Value can be had no matter how annoying a company. (Unless it's like a physiological, angry reaction everytime you see Marriott/SPG and then I get it, cancel that sucker and move on. No one needs to be angry!) It kinda sounds like you just need to run down a little list:
1) Do you have the time to take the 7 night trip in the upcoming year?
Yes->2
No-> cancel
Not sure -> I would personally count that as a "no" and cancel the cert because I lean towards better safe than sorry
2) Do you actually want to go to a hotel your cert will get? Be honest with yourself, getting the best value isn't much of a value if it's not someplace you actually want to go/stay

I may have been of absolutely no help to you but sometimes it helps me to step back when I start thinking in circles and boil the situation down to yes/no questions :)

1) not sure
2) I could upgrade and attach to a place I’d like to stay 7 nights but unsure if fits in 1 year plan

I have FOMO in that if I cancel it and find that we wish we had the cert later for a week trip I will be kicking myself.

If I upgrade and attach, that buys me extra time right? a year from today to conclude travel or start travel?

ETA: thanks for helping...you were indeed helpful.

Actually yes it does! I downgraded to a CF and still use the the csp physical card.

Hasn't that been out a couple years? I feel like if i'm going to buy a new one to keep until it dies, I should get the current model. I'm afraid with the new models coming out in the fall, the SE will start to lose support.
Just make sure it can support Fortnite since not all of the models can :) DS11 got lucky and his does. Had he got my phone, he would now be complaining he needs a new phone since he would be SOL...

Delta Amex has it too... Apparently Amex quite agrees with your assessment!

and @jhoannam
They don't appear to be requiring karma yet, just takes a couple cycles for it to show up on the rankt page. But I have no real karma and it's accepted my links in the new threads and they're now showing on the rankt page too. We'll see how long that lasts.

Did you ever visit the El Yunque rainforest? I think I’d prefer to book some sort of guided excursion with transportation from San Juan to the forest. Need to do some reasearch on that.

Not sure if you got a response for this. But me and my DD went trekking through El Yunque just last year. We just hired a driver who knew about the forest because he took us up quite a ways (by car) to the top. He didn't just drop us at the entrance. We were able to stop and get pics along the way. Then he dropped us at the trail and basically told us to follow it. And we did. With other people doing the same. All was fine. We made it to the waterfalls had an awesome time there. Then made it to the end of that trail (yep a lot uphill) where our ride was waiting. And even on the ride down we stopped to get something to eat. If you go hope you have a good time like we did.

I’m pretty sure I need some sort of therapy after this Marriott TP ordeal.

I am seriously considering cancelling my package and transferring my points refund, along with my SPG points, to SW.
For one thing, I can attach the cert to something tentative but that I likely won’t actually travel. But after the merge what will I actually be able to do as far as changing to something I can use? No one really knows. I made some speculative 7 night bookings for “just in case” I decide to go this route.

I don’t care for how they are being less than forthcoming with the info needed to make a decision. That is turning me off from their brand. Hence the cancel and transfer to SW idea. Plus I could actually use the sw points.

The only time I can squeeze in another 7 night stay before the cert expires is next June.

I’m not one of the people trying to get any bonus out of this situation. I don’t expect any added value. I would simply like all the info I need so I know what cert to upgrade to and what changes I will be able to make to finalize my plans post merger. Is that asking so much!?
I'm annoyed with Marriott as well for leaving us in the dark. It's just not good customer servic e .How many points do you get if you cancel? I assume it's not a 1:1 transfer to SW?

I am not sure about the transfer. that is a good question.
I’d get 75k if I cancel...I think. 45 + 30 for my cat 6.

Anyone fly sun county airline? They just announced coming to BNA starting in Nov and will have nonstops to mco.

Looks like with bags and seat selection total round trip is $150 for our dates.

I bought a cat 6 too. I don't think Marriott transfers 1:1 to SW unless there is a change here from the merger.
