Benefit department wants some kind of proof they can't cancel our tickets. Both airlines say to refer to their policies. Please forgive my inexperience with this, but I'm guessing there is no way to book SW flights online using points for some tickets and paying OOP for others, right? It appears I'll have to do separate bookings to accomplish this, but I wasn't sure since I've never booked an award flight (with any airline) before. My only fear in doing this is if I book the cash tickets first, then I go back to book the award ticket, what happens if the flight shows sold out at that point?

The e-Rewards points counted when I was working on my CP at the end of 2015. I am not sure if that has since changed but it certainly helped me get to 110k.

Correct. I would first put in the total # of passengers you need tickets for (including any CP) and make sure they are available. If they are quickly start booking them. If you are using the points from one account, you can book them all at the same time. The same with the $.

Thanks! Yes, we are using DH's RR points to book 1 ticket and paying OOP for 2 more tickets.

FYI, for those considering buying those cheap magazine subscriptions for Rapid Rewards, I received an email informing me my subs are going to expire soon, and it gave me a direct link to cancel them online with just a couple clicks. 650 RR per $5 sub, and any time I don't have to speak to a human is a bonus.

I have the citi double cash card and it's crazy how fast the rewards balance adds up.

I'm not sure what the catch people are referring to is. I charge during the month and pay the balance off multiple times per month. I don't carry a balance. It won't let you prepay if that is what people are referring to. You can only pay for what you've spent.

When you applied for this card, did they initially give you a super low credit limit compared to your other cards? We have excellent credit and very low balances on our cards, which we pay off each month, but I just applied and was approved, but with an $1100.00 limit!? That's not much to work with. So disappointing since I really wanted to use this as our only card and not have to bounce between cards all month. Ugh.

They worked last month. I remember reading the article reporting that SW going to now allow point transfers to count towards CP starting this month IIRC.

If you are trying for CP, SM chase on your account. Right now they have 60k bonuses w/2k MS on both Plus and Premiere. They should be able to match it if you haven't hit your MS yet. Easy companion pass.

OMG. I so want to do this... I was planning on waiting until the end of the year so I could then have CP for 2018 and 2019 but this is so tempting. Only problem is I still have one of the SW cards open, that I was planning on cancelling in June. (Have had for over 4 years). Right now I am at 3/24 and 1 AU. (Even though the card with the AU is closed).

If I cancel the current SW card. How long before I can apply for the same card again??

I got my bonuses back in February so I'm not going to bother asking for the increase. But my mother just got her Plus card a few weeks ago with only a 40K bonus so I just let her know to SM Chase ASAP, and I've almost convinced her to go for the Premier. She thinks I'm making her do something nefarious.

You don't need to SM the link. I opened up a card with the 40k bonus not knowing about the CP back in Jan. When the 50k offers came up, I SM'ed chase and told them that I just saw the new offer online and they already knew what I was referring to and approved it no problem.
