I love credit cards so much!

How does this thread move so quickly? I am seriously having trouble keeping up and that's with me at home. When we travel I guess I'll just have to give up and then start again after our trip. Things move so quickly it'll be like a whole new thread by then.

Negative Changes Coming To Chase Sapphire Reserve (No More 3x On $300 Travel, Priority Pass Limited To Two Guests & Price Protection Removal)

Basically, the CSR comes with a $300 per membership year travel credit. You earn 3x UR on anything that codes as “travel” with the CSR. You also get credited for “travel” charges until the $300 travel credit is used up. So for those $300, you’re getting a double benefit of earning 3x UR and getting the charge reimbursed. Effective 8/26/18, you won’t earn 3x UR on any travel charge that gets reimbursed by the travel credit. Not a big deal because 3x UR on $300 is 900 UR you won’t be getting, which is like $9 cash or $13.50 when redeemed for travel.

Thank you. So it's just on the $300, so not a deal breaker. We will sneak in under the 8/26 anyway, but I'm hoping to use that card for much of our travel and dining bills on that trip, assuming it will get me extra URs. (I have booked a few private tours which will need to paid for the day of the excursion and luckily all but one accepts CCs).

Honestly I have never had a good experience with AMEX customer service. They just seem to have an attitude. Maybe when I got the retention offer on SPG personal, but even that wasn’t especially a good experience. Chase is fine and adequate, I have had good experiences with Discover and oddly enough Capital One.

@speedyfishy as well and I thought your reaction was reasonable, particularly since the error occurred on their end. Sorry to hear your Amex customer service experiences have been painful. In their defense (and perhaps I'm clouded by the recent Amex love between the Biz and Personal Plats and self referrals), I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with them and all the reps have gone above and beyond. Some of it could be attributed to calling the Plat customer number? But I know I recall making multiple calls about random things with my BCP and they were all painless as well :confused3.

Even yesterday, I responded to a rep that wrote to me about tickets I bought and said his response was unacceptable; within 24 hours, I heard from a supervisor, and I got a reasonable response.

There is a link in the post that @miztressuz pointed back to. I can't believe I missed it over and over again today.
I didn't get targeted but I figured it can't hurt to sign up anyway.

I looked at our account and saw we were already signed up for the emails...so I unsubscribe....maybe in the future we will get targeted who knows

AmEx seems good for 0% purchase offers right now. Are you trying to get under 5/24? On business cards there's the Blue Business Plus, 0% for 15 months.
If not, the Everyday and Blue Cash lines all have 0 for various sign up bonuses. Which one is good depends on if you like cash or points.

Seemingly, good rewards on large purchase and 0% interest are fairly mutually exclusive. but the usual suspects are only looking like a few hundreds of dollars worth of rewards.

Thank you! I think I might try for the Chase Ink Business Unlimited first after looking and if denied for being over 5/24, go Amex. Wondering if a phone call would be better than online.

I'm not sure there's much wiggle room on 5/24 at the moment. From what I recall if it was a store card not issued by a bank you may get past it by calling reconsideration and finding the right rep. But I think it's been pretty bleak. IMO it's probably not worth the HP if you're sure of being 5/24; but I can see the appeal of trying, just don't get your hopes up.

Any thoughts on the MCGC promos at Staples? The $5 off $100/$200 offers DoC posted? I see some comments about fraud... I've never run into that with mine but they've mainly been from Kroger/Safeway. I've only done one Staples MCGC offer, last summer maybe, when it was double crediting. Didn't have issues but didn't have them long.

Gotcha - I'll try with little hope :) Yes, 3 were store cards! Of course regretting that now, but didn't know I'd want to do this now either.

Before you incur a hard pull for nothing, I’d really suggest taking a look at your credit report from one of those free credit reporting services like Credit Karma. You should be able to see if those store cards are on your credit report, and generally see how many of your cards were opened within the past 2 years. Chase’s 5/24 rule is an absolute hard rule. If you are over 5/24, you will be denied for the Ink Unlimited and any other card subject to that rule.

I'm starting to get nervous about my Biz green app now. When I called in a few hours ago the rep said they just needed to verify it was me applying. Then he said, oh, I do see there's something on here that is making it go under review by a specialist, but we'll have an answer for you in 3-5 days. He said everything looked fine, but they'd let me know. Does that sound weird? I hope Amex doesn't shut me down!

I think it can be found in your promotions tab. Unfortunately, my whole family already gets the emails...so no offers. Maybe we should unsubscribe.

Yes...that’s where I looked ....nothing there because we were already signed up...so I unsubscribed...figured it can’t hurt

Specific advice requested because I'm paralyzed over the decisions to be made. Specific travel goal is NYC Times Square hotel possibly July/Aug 2019 or Oct 2019. Flying from PNS, no loyalty to any airline. Just me traveling, DH and DS would not go. Would be meeting my grandma there. Would love to have an upgraded room with a view of TS. I'm 4/24 right now, but working to get AU removed to bump me down to 3/24. Most recent card is CSP early Jul 2018. Before that is CF in Nov 2017. Just started following this thread at that time and didn't cash in on double dip. Screwed up even more when I applied for CSR for DH and STILL didnt double dip. So we are both locked out of Sapphire for 2 years. I'm not ready for business cards yet but I am working up courage slowly. Working on CSR MSR right now but should finish that by mid September I think. We have a road trip coming up in 10 days that will involve multiple hotel stays at Hyatt and probably Hampton Inn. Not sure if that matters. Thoughts?

When I log into my Chase account, is the "Credit Journey" accurate enough? I can see the 7/24 there.

I have not seen any negative DPs or anything else that might suggest this method has been closed or leads to shutdown. Fingers crossed for you!

for awhile, US bank gift cards were having issues, ppl were finding their accounts drained automatically just walking out of the store. I dont think it is a problem now, just a bunch of bitter ppl who probably got their cards drained.
you have a few options, office depot has the $300 deal, $10 back for vgc.

depends on what u plan to do with it i guess.

yeah... I'd just spend it organically. Just thinking of stacking with AMEX offer, I've been hoping Staples would run a no fee promo. Don't they usually a couple times a year? Or am I confusing them with OM/OD.

I might even use them pretty quick to just get discounted Disney gift cards at Sam's online.

Ok.... can someone repost the link for all of the Starriott category changes? I cannot find it for the life of me, and last time it took me an hour of googling/searching here/travel blogs :sad2: This time I promise to save it on my spreadsheet!

I totally forgot about store cards when I originally posted here. So glad it didn't affect our double dip, but now I'll have to go back and figure out when they were opened. I know both the B. Republic and Nordstrom ones had issues and needed to be reissued in the last two years. Ugh.
