I love credit cards so much!

We just saw Hamilton for the first time a few weeks ago in London. WE LOVED IT!!! DH and I agreed it’s the best thing we’ve ever seen. It’s coming to SF again Feb-May 2019. How were you notified of the presale last time? Did you sign up for a mailing list? I am not throwing away my shot to see it again!!!

I have AMEX Platinum. Would you recommend calling the concierge dept directly for tickets instead of trying to book online?

We did the HP Studio Tour a few years ago. It is FANTASTIC! Plan on spending spending several hours there!

Happy to see all the Hamilton love, we have tickets for Oct in Boston. Woo-hoo! Have not seen it yet. Going in NY in Sept but we're going to wing it at the TKTS booth. Hoping for Come From Away, assuming Harry Potter or hamilton would be impossible to get there.

I see people are taking their VGCs to Walmart to get the MOs...has anyone tried the post office and had luck? Is it just that the MOs cost more at the post office? I want to dabble with this a bit before I pull the cord on something bigger.

The post office used to work, but now their systems are hard coded against accepting VGCs. What grocery stores are in your area? That maybe an option for you too.

I think it’s so hard because you have so many options lol. I like your plan of you going for the Southwest companion pass. You use Southwest miles a lot and have a lot of trips where you can use it. For your DH I think I would do the CIC and cancel the CSR in feb. idk how the trip insurance would be if you cancelled but if you wait until feb you could potentially use the $300 travel credit and get refunded the $450 annual fee. Idk how much of the annual fee you would get refunded if you cancelled now, but you would probably get something.

The AU adding should help with your age of accounts. But if you don’t want to do it should be fine. I’m at 6 years history and 5 for my SO. Average age is like 2 years and our score is high 700s. Could be better but we have no problems getting the cards we want for the most part.

Good perspectives thank you! Great idea about switching him up and doing cic before they double dip. That solves the insurance issue and I didn’t even consider the AF!

Our scores are both in 800s so I guess I don’t need to let the aaoa issue bother me much.

Ok so I have a plan. Thanks!!

Stop and Shop as well as Shaws are the big ones around my area. How about any of the pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens?

Congratulations!

You might want to consider using your new BGR to refer yourself for the Biz Green before 8/8/18 for another 20k MR.

Check @SBWB48 's, @Angrose 's and my posts to @wendow above.

Since the Biz Green is another Amex business card, which won't report to your credit reports or count against 5/24, and because the Biz Green only requires you to make a single purchase (no minimum) to trigger the signup bonus, and has no annual fee in the first year, there's essentially no cost to pick up 20k MR (and maybe another 20k MR for P2).
Would it be an issue to apply right away? There are a few other AMEX biz cards I’m interested in but my understanding is because these are charge cards that shouldn’t effect anything? What about applying for Green a few days after the BRG app?

No issue. Amex has a 2 credit card limit in a rolling 90 days (2/90). The BGR and Biz Green are charge cards. They won’t count against Amex credit cards you might want to apply for. I self-referred myself for the Biz Green two days after being approved for the Biz Plat. Auto approved.

Idk about Shaw’s but Stop and Shop works it’s just YMMV if the cashier will check the card. I have no problems with getting the giftcards with my name on them from Giftcardmall

Would it be a good idea for me to refere myself and DH via BGR? That would be 30k total, correct? 25k, for myself and 5k for DH. How long does it take for the referral points to post?

DH was just approved for the SPG Biz, doesn’t have any MR earning card.

Referral points past very quickly. Usually 48 hours.

@SBWB48, @kmc8826, @amalone1013, and anyone else considering the 100k MR Amex Biz Platinum call-in offer,

and @calypso726, @tink1970, @platamama, @CaliforniaGirl09, and whoever else has the Biz Plat but has never had the BGR or Biz Green,

READ THIS: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/92bkky/daily_discussion_thread_july_27_2018/e34qs6j

Last month, I posted about a loophole that /r/churning discovered where you can use your Biz Plat (or other biz charge cards) to refer yourself to Amex's other MR business charge cards (the BGR and Biz Green), and earn the bonus for self-referral and the other card's sign-up bonus, assuming you don’t have and haven’t had that other card before. The big points are with self-referrals from the Biz Plat because a referral bonus from that card is worth 20k MR.

I didn't think much about it at the time because I didn't have a Biz Plat. Now I do. Redditor l3veraged put two and two together and has an excellent write-up about how to maximize the MRs you can get out of these two deals before the call-in offer is supposed to expire at the end of this month and the 20k referral bonus ends on 8/8/18.

The sweet spot seems to be to get the 100k MR/$10k offer on the Biz Plat, refer yourself (and hey, maybe even P2) to the Biz Green for 20k MR per referral; make a single purchase on the Biz Green for another 5k MR and sockdrawer that card [edit: the Biz Green seems to have a quirk that double credits the 5k MR]; meet the $10k MSR on the Biz Plat for another 10k MR. ~140k MR.

Personally, I'm holding off on referring myself or applying for the BGR. The BGR has a public/referral offer of 50k MR (add another 20k MR for the self-referral), but requires another $5k MSR in 3 months, which is not in our budget. While applying for the Biz Plat, the Amex rep pitched me on a 75k MR/$10k/4 months offer on the BGR, and told me to call in for that offer when I'm ready. I don't know if the 75k offer will still be around when I'm ready (it comes and goes), but I know I'm not ready to tackle an additional $5k or $10k MSR on the BGR when we've already got the Hilton Biz and Biz Platinum to work on, and am considering the CIU or SPG Lux for DW and Marriott Premier Plus for me next month.

This is pretty awesome!

Do you think having DH refer me to Biz Green will impact my ability to pull a 100K MR Plat offer for myself in the future? I don't have any MR cards; DH is the one with the MR cards because he got targeted mailers.

I don't know. I have the same dilemma over whether to refer DW to the Biz Green, because she doesn't have any MR cards of her own and I still hope to pull the 100k personal Plat for her one day. I'd do a churningsearch, but it's down.

Has anyone used Marriott points for a family vacation in London or Paris. I’m really struggling to find options that accommodate three (me, dd 14, and ds 13) for next summer. And they are all points plus cash. In Paris the Marriott rive gauche seems to be okay for families but the location isn’t super convenient. In London I’m looking at maybe regents park Marriott but I’m not sure about that. Really want to do this next year but if it’s 300,000+ Marriott points plus another $1,000-1,500 for 5 nights in London + 5 nights in Paris for so-so hotels, I may need to re-think my plan.

Just applied for global entry for myself using DH’s new Amex Plat. He applied a few weeks ago using his CSR.

For anyone that has experience with Global Entry, I know it also provides TSA Pre Check, will we be able to use the pre check line with our 7 yo daughter who does not have Global Entry? We don’t have any upcoming international flights so would only be using pre check. If I decide to apply for the Biz Plat then I’d use that credit to purchase Global Entry for her.

One other question, how long from application to interview on average?
Yes, kids do not need Global Entry to go through TSA pre-check. I researched it when DH and I were getting Global Entry. Although we did get it for DS since we do some international travel and DS loves having it!

Well, I went for the Barclay AA Biz. Because really at this point why not? I’m a sucker for last day of a deal card applications (how I got sucked into this whole thing when the CSR 100k went last day and I just couldn’t pass!) and this is supposedly the last day it will be running 50k. I went pending and it says I will be reviewed and/or called. Not gonna answer if they call, last time that worked for my 2nd Aviator and I’d rather not discuss my “biz”. Just got denied Arrival+ though so idk if I’ll be denied because of that. As of right now I don’t have a hit on my TU so that might be a bad sign? They didn’t hit it when they auto-denied me on the A+. C’mon Barclays! I’d really like to pay you guys $95 for 50k miles!

ETA: just got notice from CK Barclays hard hit!

Loved the studio tour too. So cool. If I get DH back over there I plan on going back... went last time with a friend, at the time DH wasn't a big fan anyways. Now he is a big fan of the movies. He's not a reader, so he won't read the books :sad2:

I personally think the books are so much better than the movies. Just an idea here, but if he doesn't like to read, check out the audio books. The reader is awesome (and has different voices for Hagrid, McGonagal, etc.) and I listen to them sometimes when I'm too busy to read. (Granted I read the books multiple times before trying the audiobooks, but I still think they would be good if he wants to hear the story).
