I love credit cards so much!

So, did you buy it? I've had one for years. From a Lowes deal back in 2008 for $125 - its an Artisan which is fine for us as we are not heavy duty cooks. Mine is pink ribbon pink and I do love it and haven't tired of the color even though most of my other stuff is stainless.
I held off. I went looking through one of my deal sites and it had dropped last summer/fall/black friday down to $15 to $40 more than Amazon had it last night... so I figured it wouldn't be the end of the world if I waited until I actually had a place for it and spent that much more. Plus I would really be just fine with the regular model which seems to hit $175ish pretty often.

Then I remembered the MILs been insinuating she'll send hers with us when we go, so then I REALLY don't need one haha. Plus it would be an even better deal, as then I would just need to get a new whisk and dough hook for it (she lost them at some point).

Update on DHs vehicle is the shop will be done Friday or Monday, and then we will trade out for my car. That will have been about two weeks.

I'm secretly hoping for Monday so that 1. My Hilton biz should hopefully be here and 2. I will be there... just because I am going out of town starting tomorrow, and I'm not sure I can get DH to take a card with my name to the shop to use... Even though they know us and it would be fine. But last night he wouldn't even take my Freedom to the gas station :sad2: Maybe I will just suggest he ask the shop if it can be picked up Monday, if it will be done Friday... Actually, he is going to an event for most of Friday anyways so picking it up would be difficult.

Hopefully by early next week I can pick out another card... guess I will go big now that I've added up how much Universal tickets will be costing! :faint:

You can tell your DH that my hubby has been using my Discover card with my name for the last 6 months without any issues... even now that it's the Restaurants category and someone is actually looking at the card :) I just asked him over the weekend how it was going using it at sit-down restaurants and he said no one's said anything! Even though it's my name printed on the receipt and his signature, while mostly illegible, is clearly not the same :teeth: He said one lady actually looked at the name on the card first but still rang it up anyway and didn't say anything... even before he got to the signature part where they could see (well really guess, cuz his siggy isn't very helpful!) it's the same last name. (which I'm sure helps, but even before I changed my name I didn't have issues using his cards.)
Not very comforting fraud wise, but quite convenient points wise!

I really want to pull the trigger on these flights to Puerto Rico for next Feb. I’ve got 4 tickets on Delta in premium economy (which for some reason is pricing at less than main cabin?) for $435 each round trip, a little under 116K UR points total. I feel like that’s a good price for a peak travel week from NYC (Presidents Week) but I also wonder if the main cabin seats will come down to lower than that if I wait. There are a lot of main cabin seats still available, and it’s only a 4-hour flight so we don’t need any upgraded seats. But if I wait and all the prices go up I’ll be mad, lol. This is the part I hate about booking flights, the prices constantly change and I don’t fly enough to really know what’s a good price and what’s high.

If its for the full week - Sat to Sat or Sun to Sat etc, then I think $435 in Premium is a decent price. Southwest had some good prices on release day, but those have skyrocketed now.

I haven't heard of delays with Auto train, but I also haven't been following it much as I figured I'd never use it. Is this also the case? Possibly sitting on the side track for hours? I guess so long as I have my roomette, I might not mind so much.

Yep. It happens. The Auto Train gets priority over other Amtrak trains - I was on a very late Silver Meteor in February, and we pulled over to let the Auto Train go through so it could remain on time (and that is one long train, let me tell you).

Over the last year, the northbound Auto Train averages about 30 minutes late into Lorton. Just scanning the delays, I'm seeing 12hr late, 11hr, 10hr x 2, 9hr x 2, 7hr, 6hr, 5hr x 3, 4hr x 4, 3hr x 7, and too many to count 1hr - 2hr late. Also seeing a lot of 1hr early, and even 2hr early - that will never happen on any other route.

Pretty much the same story on the southbound Auto Train, although that only averages about 15 minutes late into Sanford.

For those delays more than 4 hours, something clearly happened to disrupt the route. Anything 4 hours or less could be just about anything, from a minor mechanical issue with Amtrak, to a single long freight train delay that just continues to back up the train as it goes. That 2hr early though is particularly interesting, I'd be interested to know how they accomplished that. Most likely there wasn't a single freight disruption and that's the amount of padding in the route, but who knows.

I've been telling him that for months, but nope. I would have totally used my AU card (which has the dog's name...) and have him use my card, but still no. I even use a CSR with his name all the time and he knows that... :sad2:

So I wonder what they do about meals when they are running 10-12 hours late? (Thinking of my stomach, lol)

I've heard Dinty Moore specials are common, but usually they will just offer whatever is left meal-wise on the train first. I haven't experienced this myself.

The latest I've ever been was on the aforementioned Silver Meteor. It was 4hr30min late leaving NYC because of a mechanical issue that needed to be fixed first. We continued to pick up delays and reached Orlando about 6hr45min late. But we were scheduled to arrived at 1pm, so we would have had lunch anyway. By evening we were just tired of train food and not particularly hungry, so we passed on dinner.

Not the best example because the Meteor continues on past Orlando (to Miami) and I believe it does serve a dinner anyway, so it would have been stocked.

Reader on DoC gave them a link to workaround the Amex issues a bit. It brings up a tab called "Autumn offers" and I found the Bed Bath and Beyond offer on every card this way! (not the best buy one though)

(Reader Rene's suggested link is in the 2nd paragraph, I would post it but I feel too weird posting a link to login into Amex here.)

You beat me :) I was just coming to update on that as well. Using Readers Rene's link I got the Bed Bath offer on my SPG. Also no go on the Best Buy but that's probably because they reached the limit.

Has anyone with an Amex account been able to trigger the 100k Personal Plat offer? I've been trying non stop and have not been able to get it to show up. I really don't want to get the platinum for only 60k points but I want to put this bill towards the min spend requirement :(

Can someone remind me when SW anniversary points post to RR account? I was charged my AF July 1, statement closed yesterday and no points have been added to my RR account. Does it take a few days after the statement closes?

Awesome. That's another $50 of Disney Gift cards i can get at BBB for 20% off (SPG Biz and PRG) to add to the $50 i bought yesterday. Thanks for posting.

I think it is different for everyone. One of my cards the points posted before the AF hit my account. The other card the points posted about a week after AF, but before the statement closed.

Hopefully, mine post soon! I thought they usually would have posted by now. I don't ever remember it being this long after the AF hit.

Mine post around the week I actually opened the card and doesn't depend on the statement closing, from what I recall.

Have you had the card for more than a year? You can check when your points posted last year on your RR account.

To all the kitchenaid stand mixer conversations - love, love mine. Had it for about 20 years. It gets the biggest work out at Christmas with all the baking but also use to make mashed potatoes, mix meatloaf and meatballs. It sits in a place of honor on my counter top which does make it easier to use for things you might just pull out the hand mixer (i don't even know if I still have my hand mixer). It is the basic white artisan model. It sits under a cover so really don't see the color but I like the neutral.

Another topic - DH instant approval for Citi AA biz! Planning to do the PNC bank funding to make MSR. Off to see if the bonus is still available and requirements.

Especially since it'll go in storage, wait. I got one via an estate sale for 25 bucks a couple months ago and have used it once. It's not that I don't like baking and stuff but I can't eat it all and can only give stuff away so often. I had a friend that got a deal on one at Kohls when you got Kohls cash back, may be a good way to do it or like @gottalovepluto said, there will be other prime days and black friday. Wait until you have a place to keep it and use it.

I got mine a couple years ago at kohls. I'm not a kohls fan, but it was a deal.

TIP: use it to shred chicken breasts. best thing ever.
