For anyone looking to spend UR points on Korean to book delta flights be careful!! I'm in the midst of a fight, Delta flight went delayed causing a missed connection and re-booked us on Hawaiian but didn't but pay Hawaiian! We had to pay $1700 at the gate to board the Hawaiian flight as they said Delta didn't pay them- they only booked the flights! It was our choice not to delay our vacay and $1700 won't break my bank but for anyone looking at this be careful! All 3 airlines are blaiming each other & I'm out $$$$, could be months before this settles out. I know others on here have considered using UR points this way so be aware it could go very wrong. I will update when/if it all settles out.

I am sorry this happened to you. I suspect that Delta does not have a transfer agreement with Hawaiian. DH ran into a situation that sounds like this when he used to fly a certain route that involved a connection on Delta. The connection was pretty short and on several occasions a delayed first flight meant that he missed the Delta connection (which was the last Delta flight of the day). There was a later flight on another airline but in order for DH to be switched to that flight, he needed for Delta to give him a voucher. After the first time that happened, DH asked for the voucher at our home airport if it seemed at all possible that he might miss the connection - much easier than trying to get the voucher at the connecting airport.

I hope Delta agrees to pay, and without a lot of hassle. Let us know how it turns out (and enjoy your vacation!)

So for the most part my bills are my mortgage and car payment (both of which I found out the bank won't allow to be paid by way of cc). I also of course have some other bills, such as cable/internet, water, cellphone and fuel for my car, which I pay all those by cc.

I'm just thinking that the best way for me to accumulate points/credit towards travel would be to buy local grocery store gc's with my CapitalOne Venture card. Unless anyone else has some other ideas...

@Tikitoi, I replied to your post last week suggesting you look at the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Ink Preferred credit cards to pay your mortgage. Although you typically cannot use credit cards to pay mortgages, you can use your credit card through Plastiq, which will issue an electronic payment or check to your mortgage lender. Plastiq currently considers such transactions "travel," and the CSR and CIP will earn you 3x Ultimate Rewards points per $1. Since a mortgage is most people's largest monthly expense, this method can earn you a lot of points fast.

You can also use Plastiq to pay your car loan, but that'll only earn you 1x back (or 1.5x if you use a Chase Freedom Unlimited, see below).

As for gas, there are a number of credit cards with gas bonuses. American Express's Blue Cash Preferred earns 3% cash back at gas stations (and department stores, and 6% cash back on up to $6,000/year at supermarkets); the Premier Rewards Gold card earns 2x Membership Rewards points at gas stations (and supermarkets and restaurants). If you're a Costco member, the Costco Anywhere Visa earns you 4% cash back on up to $7,000/year for gas. If you are near a Kroger, I'd suggest you look into the Disney Gift Card Deals thread, as members there will post fuel point coupon deals that combines buying gift cards and gas with credit card bonuses for great savings on Disney (or any other) gift cards.

For other bills, you should look into a credit card that gives you a good cash back percentage for all other purchases. The Chase Freedom Unlimited earns you 1.5% cash back or Ultimate Rewards points for every purchase. The Chase Freedom card has 5% cash back or Ultimate Rewards up to $1,500/quarter on rotating categories (e.g., Q1 Gas stations; Q2 Grocery and Drug stores; Q3 Restaurants; Q4 TBA). If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you can transfer these Ultimate Rewards points to that card and they'll be worth 50% more when redeemed for travel through the Ultimate Rewards portal (or 25% more with a Chase Sapphire Preferred). The Discover it card also earns 5% cash back up to $1,500/quarter on rotating categories (Q1: Gas and Wholesale clubs; Q2: Home improvement stores and Wholesale clubs; Q3: Restaurants; Q4 Amazon), and I believe offers double cash back for new cardholders in the first year.

I don't know much about the CapitalOne Venture card, but I do know that if you want to make the most out of your money there is no "one size fits all" credit card that will earn you the best return for everything.

dont forget though, u have to see if the 2.5% is worth it to ya or not. Most ppl arent willing to buy those points. its like .8cpp.
most ppl will tell you if ur still making minimums, this is the best way to go.

I thought this was interesting and helpful especially if you are getting into this hobby. I have a Hyatt (which I got in February and now wish I had waited) but I did secure message chase to have my husband taken off as an AU for it. I just put him on to get the bonus points, and it is showing up on his credit report and I don't want it to be an issue with it counting.

When making a Chase mortgage payment thru Plastiq - it recommends using Chase Manhattan Bank (same address just different name). Has anyone had any issues choosing Chase Manhattan? Just entering Chase says 10 days to receive vs Chase Manhattan 3 days.

No personal experience, but Chase Manhattan Bank was the former name of JPMorgan Chase Bank so your payment should be going to the right place.

Is the difference in delivery time the difference between electronic transfer (3 days) vs. check by mail (10 days)? There should be some indication. I know sometimes, when Plastiq has a prior relationship with the payee, Plastiq is able to wire the money to the payee.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. I am going to wait until next month before I apply for CIP, hopefully the bonus will still be available.

Going to try to apply for my first business card tonight... Any last minute words of advice? :)

Just got my first biz card a couple of weeks ago! I had read somewhere to include all income in your 'business' income so I did that but otherwise nothing I can think of. App was fairly simple.

Good luck! I initially got the 30-day message but got an email that I had been approved about a week later.

I was trying to decide about what to put for business income... My business would be my very recent eBay reselling... I guess I could try pet sitting, but I haven't done that for about two years now...

I (DH) applied for a business card with our "rental" business. We own a property we rent out for the taxes & insurance we pay (no profit). I think I put our income was $2500 per year. It was approved (CitiBusiness AA)

Yep, it shows up. My wife and I get separate cards and just don't do authorized users with each other, she has used her Mom as one and I have used my Mom as one.

I have sold on ebay for about 5'ish years. I do not make much at all but I had read to combine that with other household income. So, I did, and was approved :) Really, I am just a SAHM, homeschooling 4 kids and shuttling their buns around to activities all day and night. I just sell on ebay when I have spare time. Even the banker at Chase said that my occasional ebay selling qualified as a 'business'.

You bet it shows up. And in my dh's case, Chase counted that AU against him. I will never add either of us as an AU again!

Have you tried to remove him as an AU and ask Chase to remove the card from his credit report?

I haven't tried to remove him because that card dropped off in Dec 2016 and he was able to be approved for the CSR in 2017.
That AU is the reason he was denied for the CSR when applying in Nov 2016. I have read it is really difficult to get the AU'ers removed from a credit report...however, again, we haven't tried.

Not sure how hard it is now, but 5 years ago it was very simple. I was trying to get my credit score up to buy a house. Had been an AU on my wife's Chase card. She called up, asked them to remove me. Once that was done, I think I had to submit a letter to the credit agencies saying that it wasn't my card and that I didn't actually use it. They removed it from my history, credit score jumped up significantly. Bought the house with no problem at all.

Granted, it was the truth that I didn't use the card...in fact, never actually activated mine.

I should add, I was on that account for years, so it's not like it was a new card.

I might have to try that. I had added DH to my CSR before I realized there was a hefty fee for his card and quickly removed him but it is showing on his credit report as terminated.
