I love credit cards so much!

Just 2-3 days on my checking acct - very quick. I opened the savings on Fri, and I’m still waiting for those funds.
Hm well that's concerning. I opened the virtual wallet thingie cuz i thought that'd be easier for the bonus and got an email alert my account has 0 bucks. It's been at least 3-4 business days since the charge posted and longer since opening. Guess if it doesn't show up today I'll have to call to see what's up.

does anyone have any knowledge about the airport ATL in Atlanta Georgia? when we booked Disney i didn't realize a layover in ATL. my concern is we have only 50 minutes. is southwest terminals close by?

I’ve flown through ATL a lot since I’m on the east coast. I’ve never flown SW through there, but most of my layovers have been 50 minutes. As long as your plane isn’t late getting in, you’ll be ok. I’ve always seemed to have the worst luck flying through there, so most of my memories of ATL are me sprinting through the tunnels trying to make it to my next terminal. There's also an underground train if you need to switch to a different terminal. If you find that you need to change terminals, I'd be prepared to be one of those pushy people hustling off the plane to get there.

I had a wonderful weekend in Newport with two of my best friends from high school (how could that possibly have been that twenty years ago???)

This was the view from our deck.

You can see why we've decided to make this an annual weekend getaway from now on!
.

Peel - now you've got me wanting to cross the Newport Bridge this summer! I've half had it in mind as I go up there every few years and drive down into my old neighbourhood to bring back a lot of happy memories. I lived there from 1983-1986 as a Navy wife. My son was born in Newport Naval hospital in 1984, one of the last before they closed the hospital on base and my oldest started kindergarten there. It always looks so different to me than it did before they changed the base. I made one of my best friends there although we never see each other as she now lives in South Carolina. Funny thing - the last couple of weeks I've gotten a mailer from a hotel on Goat Island - someone renovated the property. Gurney Resorts I think it is. The last half of July is already booked solid on their website and there isn't even a cup race that I can see. We've stayed in that hotel many years back and used to go there for Sunday brunches.

Did you drive out around Brenton Point? To me this is one of the most beautiful places! I have to get back! Thanks for the memories.

When my Costco cc became an Amex Hilton I didn't think too much about it. I read somewhere (but now can't find) something about Hilton rewards points expiring. Did I read that right? Is it as simple as "use some points at least every 12 months (calendar Jan to Dec)? Thanks AGAIN!!

I don't think you'll have a problem. As @afan notes above, you should have time to go to the bathroom and that might be about it. I've had less time and have been fine. Most of SW is in the same terminal in ATL but you could get a flight that is in another terminal. Even with that you should be fine, just sit as close to the front of your connecting flight so you can get off as quickly as possible.

Must have been nice weather everywhere this weekend - didn't take me too long to catch up today!

He's still smiling through it all, which is keeping a smile on this momma's face too!
What a brave boy! Hugs to all of you.

That would make sense at least. I think my odd night that popped up wasn't actually CC spend, even though that's where it was listed. Someone mentioned sometimes getting a night as a birthday gift and now I'm wondering if that might be what happened for us. Our last spend had been in Jan and the night showed up sometime early May, which would have been after hubby's b-day... and nothing else really happened between when I looked and whenever it credited. So I don't really believe it was spend, we hadn't been putting much on that card even before Jan.
Not sure it was the birthday thing - as I recall, you get an email for the birthday night and then click "accept" or something to have it actually credit. Tracking elite nights with marriott has always been a big pain.

I don’t post often but I wanted to share my win this morning with you. We have been in AZ this week and we’re flying back from Phoenix this morning on SW. Due to a change in planes they were over booked by about 30 seats. We are now booked on a later NS flight to ATL this afternoon and are over $2700 richer in SW flights for the four of us. When do those SW Hawaii flights start???

And we are waiting in the priority pass lounge with our mimosas. Gotta love the points game...although when I finally get home about midnight tonight I might be questioning my sanity.

SCORE! Being tired is totally worth $2700 in SW flights!

I had a wonderful weekend in Newport with two of my best friends from high school (how could that possibly have been that twenty years ago???) and I'm just catching up. Thanks to you all for only advancing 20 pages while I was away. :thumbsup2 We stayed at a privately owned hotel/time share property. Of course, I offered to make the booking on my CSR, so I got the 3x for the entire reservation cost. I also found it and booked through Southwest Hotels, so I have a few thousand RRs coming my way, too. Both of my friends brought tons of cash, so of course I offered to pay the restaurant bills with my CSR. The couple of times they pulled out their own cards, I had to bite my tongue. One used her debit card and the other was over the moon about her metal Amazon card. I did give a little summary of what I've been up to, but they clearly thought I was crazy for having more than one or two credit cards and for how much effort I put into the hobby. So I happily let them reimburse me after paying for everything.

Wow - good times with friends and points to boot! Looks beautiful!

Umm, I just had an extra 20,000 UR points show up in my account for two support links for my CSP!!! Our Reddit is the only place I've posted my links, so THANK YOU!! to whoever used them!! Please let me know because I'd love to give you an extra special thank you and show some reciprocity in the future!! Those points are SO appreciated as I try to treat my whole family to WDW next year!! :cutie::flower3:

Also- referral points posting on a Monday morning now?? I'm confident those points were not there yesterday when I was updating my YNAB budget!

ETA: I remembered that one was from @mom2elal but someone else here must have used one!

Yes, they expire after 12 months. I was just in a panic thinking we have been concentrating on Hyatt and Marriott/SPG this year and was worried my Hilton would expire. But I checked our account and DH did stay in one for work a few months ago. I am not sure about using them, I know some do not count that as activity, but you must have some kind of activity every 12 months. Using the cc would count. I don't think it is necessarily calendar year but just 12 months from last activity.

Since this is hubby's account that's entirely possible he got an email and forgot about it. We get so many things for birthday's (cuz I sign up for everything, if it's free it's for me!) we actually don't usually take advantage of all of it. But he's not interested in figuring it out, he's not one to look a gift horse in the mouth (whereas I'm curious so I know what to do next year :D ) so it will probably remain a mystery - for both where it came from and why Marriott chose to report it as from the CC. I am just happy that it means we only need 2 nights now to get gold so we can keep the same bonus point earning level for another year.

I'm jealous that you got to live there! I've visited every few years since I was a kid. I'm in CT, and my aunt had a summer home on Green Hill Beach in South Kingston, so we used to stay there and make trips into Newport. I've also been to the Folk Festival a few times. I've always loved the architecture of the colonial homes on the island, and of course the mansions. If I've ever been to Breton Point I don't remember it. I'll add it to the list for next year! We were really happy with the place we stayed, although it was a little unorthodox being a time share property that also rented rooms as if it were a hotel. It's called The Wellington Resort. We were right on Thames, but set back from the road so that the buildings were along the water's edge. We walked everywhere.

ETA: I just looked up Gurney's Resort. WOW!!!!

Argh. Update on myself, so I called today because I checked my CC and now the charge shows "Reversal". I spoke with PNC and they show it was charged when I opened it and they are just waiting for the funds to be deposited which can take up to 10 days and they haven't done anything else (supposedly). If it doesn't show up by day 10 then to call the CC and have them trace it.

So here's my dilemma, I used my CSR to make the full 2k limit on initial deposit since my legit charge for my roof has been delayed past this statement closing (and I wanted the bonus this month). I fully intend to have the 4k completed organically by the bonus deadline, not including the bank account funding, this just got me the bonus faster. But with the charge being reversed I'm now short again. I want to call to find out why it was reversed when it was posted for a week and see what I can do, but at the same time a little worried about drawing attention to it. And now I'm within 7 days of statement closing so even if I can get a replacement transaction I'm not sure the bonus would post on this statement anyway. This is super frustrating. Any advice?

I lived there 75-77 and was back again in '92 so missed you!

My brother was born at the Naval Hospital Newport too...iirc it was a beautiful structure. The view from his nursery was the bay- I can remember sailboats there even after 40+ years.

I'm sorry...one more time for a slow learner... how do I calcualate how much spend I have left on Fr quarters? If I've done 66.48 in 5x earned so far, but want to hit $75? I can't remember how to calculate this

If you divide how much you've earned by .05 that will tell you how much of 1500 you've spent.

66.48 / .05 = 1329.60
then 1500 - 1329.60 = 170.40

or 75 - 66.48 = 8.52
then 8.52 / .05 = 170.40

That's how I do it.

When you us the chase portal to shop do you get the percent there plus the 5% for using paypal. I was going to make a purchase at sephora and chase portal has 5% cash back and this quarter paypal is one of the 5% categories. So will I get 10% back or is it showing the max total i would get?
