I took a few days off work (and life honestly) at the end of last week and beginning of this week to be with my son and DH. We're all stressed out and just plain emotionally and physically exhausted. I'm honestly not sure if I can handle any more bad news. Bringing my son to his dr today for a follow-up on the healing of his burns. Praying it's all looking good.

Oh my goodness - I am so very sorry that your family is having to handle so many difficulties, especially all at the same time. Glad you are taking a few days to take care of yourself and your immediate family. Wishing you all well.

FYI, Marriott's website is all sorts of messed up today, so maybe double check your account if you try to log in for any reason. Mine will log me in but every time I try to click on account overview or anything, it takes me back to the login screen and says "Welcome back, Elisabeth" (my name is not Elisabeth) and then won't let me login.

Ok, Marriott isn't calling me the wrong name or anything, but I was having a tough time signing in at all. Glad to know it isn't just me (misery loves company, and aparently me, @DisneyMandC, Elizabeth and Ahsan are in good company...)

Yaaaaay! Another convert. YNAB rocks. If you haven't already, do take the webinars - I found it confusing until I did some of the classes. There is no way I would do this hobby without having everything aggregating in YNAB. And I just find it helpful for managing our financial life. Hope you enjoy using it.

There are support links for YNAB too, the new YNABer and the person who refers them both get a free month of the service. Its only tangentially related to churning, but maybe we could add a place for links on the reddit page. What do you think, @SouthFayetteFan and @Albort?
We allow pretty much anything in the Misc thread - so you can post it there for sure.

@mhartman09 - thoughts, prayers and hugs. "If you're going through he!! keep on going." (attributed to Winston Churchill, although possibly in error).

Now it says "Welcome back, Ahsan" (also not my name) :rotfl2: You guys didn't know I had multiple personalities, did you?

I must too since I've had 5 male names and 2 female names this week (stalking my marriott premier points). I kind of like April, I could get used to it :)

Hi Everyone,

Starting to plan for Hawaii in Feb. Thinking of Aulani Feb 15-26. Currently have UR points, and a SW companion pass. I know SW hasn't announced their flights yet so I am looking for another plan for airfare to get there from BOS. What are your suggestions as to what airline to book through for the best transfer value on my UR. Going to use Davids DVC rental on the CSR.

Thanks!
The best and cheapest way is to fly Korean Air, you can transfer UR to KE, for 25K UR. But Delta hasn't been releasing a lot of award seats to KE making it super difficult to get that awesome rate. It's specially difficult around the holidays. I did a quick Delta search: BOS to HNL 2/15/19-2/26/19, there was no saver availability on 2/15/19. They had saver availability 2/13 & 2/19. I then went to KE to look for those flights and they didn't have anything available, which means Delta hasn't released any seats to them.

Another UR option would be United, but that's 45K UR. I also wasn't able to find Saver availability for your exact dates, I did find 2/13/19-2/26/19 or 2/18/19-2/26/19.

Another option would be to use SW to get to the west coast, you'll find more flights that way. https://millionmilesecrets.com/2015...hawaii-from-the-west-coast-with-miles-points/

@mhartman09 First, I am so sorry for what you and your family are going through! I hope things get better for you.
As far as the AP, buying a ticket with UR's and upgrading to AP at WDW is a great way to save on an AP. I will be upgrading my UT ticket to an AP in December. I don't have the same issue as you with the second trip, but I would just chance the FP's for October I think.

Sounds like fun! I might hold out until SW next release date which is June 28 which will be for dates Jan6-March6. Fingers crossed that HI might show up. Otherwise, I'd suggest hunting on Google Flights to see what airlines might work for you. When we flew from Chicago, we spent a couple of nights at DL. Maybe you could fly to CA on SW with your CP and fly another airline to HNL.

I am so sorry you are going through all of this.

I've been trying to catch up for a couple of weeks. This morning I finally finished up trying to at least skim through all the posts I missed. The last few weeks have literally felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. I'll just summarize so I don't end up with a post that takes up an entire page.

Saturday May 26th - Attended my uncle's funeral services. He passed away suddenly due to a ruptured stomach aneurysm. My dad was rushed to the ER (as we were coming out of the funeral services) for signs of stroke and transferred to stroke unit at a New Orleans hospital.
Monday May 28th - We found out my dad had a mini stroke and they found 2 small aneurysms in his brain.
Wednesday May 30th - Our son fell backwards into a fire ring while camping. This resulted in 2nd degree burns to his legs, arms and hands.
Friday June 1st - We found out FIL has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Saturday June 2nd - My step sister had to deliver her twin baby girls at 25 weeks due to her blood pressure. Babies are in NICU and we're hoping for a miracle.
Sunday June 3rd - My mom's uncle passed away suddenly in the early morning.

Now back to the topic at hand. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can use URs to offset the cost of WDW AP. My original plan was to use UR to purchase WDW tickets through Chase, then upgrade those tickets to APs when we arrive for our Labor Day weekend trip. However, we also booked a trip for October for my sons' fall break, so that route wouldn't allow me to make FPs for the October trip at the 60 day mark.

I was thinking I could just renew our APs, which just expired on June 3rd, but I can't figure out a way to use URs to directly offset that cost, besides cashing out as a statement credit which I'd rather not do. It's my understanding the value of a ticket cannot be used toward an AP renewal, so I wouldn't be able to try that either. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I may be missing something because at this point my brain is almost mush.

Your week is more than most people can handle in a lifetime. I hope your whole family speedily recovers and remains healthy the rest of the year!

Update on my Southwest Plus retention offer attempt. Second call...I was offered a $35 statement credit. She would not offer anything more. I said I would think about it. @SouthFayetteFan , thoughts?

@mhartman09 , I don’t think I have any words to comfort you through this horrible time, so I’ll join in on the virtual hug from all your friends here on the DIS. :grouphug:

And :tink:pixie dust you have a turn of good luck soon.

That’s a relief! Hopefully this experience doesn’t put her off on future applications. Those 80k UR points should help!

I know, I hope that she or her husband will also get a CSR. I had a quick business trip earlier in the week and don't know how I survived before without lounge access and TSA pre-check!

Woah. I wonder if they are having that issue that Chase and Steam had where they didn't properly log people out of the systems and random people were ending up in other people's accounts. Best course of action on the off chance that is the case is for people to NOT log into Marriott right now.

I must too since I've had 5 male names and 2 female names this week (stalking my marriott premier points). I kind of like April, I could get used to it :)
So Marriott hired someone from Citi IT. I take you've been called by your many alternate identities but the rest of the data in the account has been all yours?

It's tough because I found some great flight options on the delta website but when I check for the award availability with Korean its not there. Delta's first class is 303k points compared to KA's 44k. Major difference!
