I am ready to get the CIP after I have wavered back and forth for so long. If some of you may remember, we applied for a HELOC and I was worried this would count against my 5/24 status. I am currently at 4/24 - 2/6 my sapphire double dip will fall off mid June) Many convinced me it would not, so I am going to go for it. My dilemma is that while we have been approved for the HELOC it has not actually been completed yet. The loan officer was hoping to get everything in last week before my DH went out of town but that didn't happen. I have no idea what the hold up is. I know that if this was a mortgage then getting anything credit related before the closing would be a big no no. Is that the same case for a Heloc? I was thinking I could squeeze in the app before the Heloc came on my credit report. I know the bank already pulled our credit. I certainly don't want to mess up our application though. Should I wait till it is complete? I just want the CIP now! Hoping to use Plastiq for college tuition with the CIP, stupid University takes no credit card at all, even with a fee.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend! I'm behind on this thread (as usual) and just jumping back in.

How long does it take for points to post to Marriott after your CC statement closes? My statement closed on the 27th and I can see the 75,000 points in my rewards history on the Chase site, but they aren't showing up in my account on the Marriott site yet. I feel like this has been answered before but I can't find it.

My statements close on the 16th and they post to Marriott either on the 18th or19th. It seems to be every other month with each date.

I was looking for DPs on pushing mortgages through on plastiq. I can't figure out how to use the dang search tool over there :headache: but found this reply on the daily question thread. Another person said they sent theirs thru under another category...utility I think it was.

ETA: I understand setting it to "other" but what the heck does sent a snip mean? Sent a screen shot of their credit card statement?

This is my process:
  • log in to Discover
  • in a new tab, find DOCs post that has all of the different quarter categories for all cards
  • under Discover, he's got a link that tells you to the penny, and lists all of the transactions.
I should really just bookmark that link. I can't find it from the Discover page.

ETA: Here is the DOC link https://www.doctorofcredit.com/q2-2...s-suggestions-freedom-discover-dividend-cash/
Funny, that doesn’t work for me. DoC link takes me to a “you have no offers”page

reddit search engine is pretty crappy. I dont suggest using it. Use this --> LINK
my understanding of it is that he basically makes it look like another type of payment and not a mortgage payment. he probably took his mortgage payment bill, cut off all things that make it look like a mortgage payment and the plastiq team probably doesnt see that its a mortgage payment and more of just a random bill.

I cannot translate reddit lol but I posted here before that I am sending my mortgage through Amex using 'utilities' as my category :)

Oh man, I am sure you are itching to get that CIP so you can pay the tuition through plastiq...totally get it!!!!...BUT I would get the HELOC closed. I don't believe the HELOC will count against you getting the CIP but I would be concerned that the CIP would hinder the HELOC. We have refi'ed twice in last 4 years and done a HELOC and yes, any credit pull too close to closing becomes an issue. One option is to contact your loan officer and ask if you can open the card and write a brief letter to explain the credit pull. That is really all they care about...OR say, can we get this thing closed because I am about to open a new credit card!?! Maybe that would light a fire under the person dragging their feet :D

I concur. Back in my days of thinking a southwest card bonus was an awesome way to save on travel (it is but that has evolved...a lot) I was dying to get DH the sw card before the 50k offer went away. Closing was scheduled for the last day of the 50k bonus. I app’d On the day of our closing thinking surely they were done doing what they do with the closing only a few hours away. Oops, nope. We still closed but we had to get a letter faxed from chase that we cancelled the app etc. Lesson learned.:rolleyes1

YES! Kind of embarrassing really, but we did our first refi in our current house about 4 years ago. I was actively churning SW and Disney back then and had just signed up for my first ihg card (dh's card...). Anyways, it never occurred to me that I had just applied for these three cards (two for dh, one for me) while in the process of refi'ing. We had just started and the gal is like, 'what are you doing!?!'. I just had to write a statement for each one but I remember just apologizing profusely over the phone to her and explaining that I was opening all these cards for our Disney trip the following year lol. She was like, 'Uh, yeah, I'll talk to the underwriter'. We got approved for the refi but I'm sure she thought I was totally a nutcase.

Yeah they follow up on the day of closing again. Buddy of mine learned that the hard way they verified employment and credit like 30m before closing, they still closed but it was a few days later. That almost got me indirectly, we bought a brand new house so needed a Washer/Dryer/Fridge, then got DD a new bedroom set and us a mattress from NFM. This was all well below my limit and I verified twice in case I needed to pay a bit on a CC. Found out the that evening from my credit monitoring they pulled my credit, their excuse was so I had plenty available in case I wanted to buy more that weekend. ARGH! Called the bank right away and they were cool with it and said I was way under any risk still since it was just a $5k addition but man that scared me at first! Just had to bring in a bill that showed a low or no balance, easy nothing posted yet. :rotfl2:

@MrPTato @CyndiLouWho That link isn't working for me either. I didn't have a chance to try it until this morning. But I think someone mentioned this here? But I can't find it... But mine shows now on my 5% cb bonus page how much I've earned each quarter, both in the 5% and the 1% everywhere else.

Chase has had a plethora of updates screwing up various aspects of their websites the last couple weeks. I would not be surprised if that feature works in a couple hours or tomorrow tbh. That said here are other ideas:
-Add the Chase account to the external bank. This way you “pull” the money from Chase using the other bank account
-download the Chase App and try to add the account from there
-write a check? In your Welcome to Chase packet is there a sheet with like 4 starter checks on one page? My biz account had them, I can’t remember if I got them on my personal account

Thank you!! Why didn't I even think of adding the Chase account to my other bank??? I really appreciate your help!

So as many of you know SW opens flights for November on 5-31. I was wondering if it is wise to get the early bird boarding. I will have a 10,7,3 year kids. All first time flying and on SW. I don’t really mind spending the money cause the fights are free with points. Any thoughts would be great.

They allow families to board before general boarding. I wouldn't pay for the EB.

My dog’s biopsy results were benign and the growth is unlikely to reoccur!

Great news!!

I am actually about to call our vet for an appt. Our cat has had a lump on his chin since Aug. Vet did a fine needle aspirate back then. She said the matter drawn was yellow and looked like fat. Lab results were that it was fatty cyst. No cancer cells detected.

But then.... Last night I found a 2nd lump next to it. I'm hoping it's just another fatty cyst, but still your stomach churns with worry. Wondering if the initial lab study was accurate.... and all that.

I haven't been on DIS for a while so I couldn't help responding when one of the first posts I read was your happy report!
