Ok, I couldn't wait any longer...double dip was a success! Instant approval on the CSR, but had to call in and move credit around for the CSP. Looks like Chase has extended all they can with me. support links used and Pm's sent! Now to spend $8000 :faint:

Comparing UA and Delta: Delta's shortest flight from DSM to HND (Haneda) is 15h 45m with a layover in MSP. United's shortest flight from DSM to NRT seems to be 15h 25m with a layover in ORD. I also see a 16h 15m flight from DSM to NRT with a 2 1/2 hrs. layover in DEN. (I have not looked up the return flights.)

If you decide to get one of the premium travel cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR), one of the nicest perks is complimentary access for you and up to two guests to the Priority Pass (PP) network of airport lounges. The PP "lounge" in Denver is a favorite here because it's actually a restaurant, Timberline Steaks & Grille, where you and your guests will receive a $28 per person credit off the bill to cover your meals and drinks. It's a nice way to spend 2 hours during a layover.

Note: ORD has two lounges in the International Terminal, but not restaurants. NRT has several PP lounges, but HND does not have any.
Okay thanks! I can't see flights yet for next May, but I'll make sure to look at both United and Delta to really compare.

I'm not sure if we are going to get a CSR or not. We are definitely getting two CIP cards if we get approved and then will have to decide after if we want to get the CSR or not.

Is the 500 points for going paperless targeted? My DW got the same offer on her CSP. I on the other hand have 4 chase cards and got nada lol.
It was targeted to me, and listed the last 4 digits of one of my SW cards. I got the same offer about a year ago.

OK, would love some thoughts here. You all know I am LOL/24 until late fall (and yes I like the term LOL/24 :-) ). My recent cards, to stay on Chases good side, are an SPG Amex Biz, opened in January and a Delta Amex Biz open in March. Dh also had both of these opened (from my referrals of course). I met those MSR pretty easily, and now I have no MSR to meet, and it's driving me nuts LOL. Amex is much harder to meet of course (but I have some vet bills coming up and a weekend out of town next weekend), but I think AMEX biz is about all I can safely do at this point? My credit limits are high with Chase, so I don't want to delve into their Biz cards right now, because I don't want to lower my credit limits right now, with a couple of recently closed cards and another one or two I might need to close soon.
So, with all that, my twitchiness has me looking at the Hilton Amex Biz, I have a store of Hilton points, and I know a lot of people don't care much for them, but I have done pretty well with them in the past. So it seems like a decent option.
Thoughts?
Chase goals are to hopefully be able to double dip SW at the end of the year for the companion pass and maybe then have DH double dip a Sapphire after those spends are met early next year.

OMG awesome! I didn’t even get a chance to wish you good luck yet and here you are having pulled off the double dip! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

what chase card do you use

I used my Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points from my Chase Sapphire Reserved (CSR) card. Much of my points were earned on other Chase cards and transferred to my CSR; thus I get a 1.5x bonus to used in the Chase UR portal. Also, by using points from my CSR I get the CSR travel protections for the trip, like cancellation insurance, trip delay, etc.

Thank you!! I guess I was a little antsy! I was really hoping for instant approval on both so I wouldn't have to call. I just kept thinking they were going to mention the CSR app. She put me on hold twice and I was practically holding my breath but no mention of the other app at all.

So my CIC was approved. Anyone have the number to call to see if I can get it expedited? Having tile work done Saturday and the dog is getting her teeth cleaned and a rectal growth removed:( a week from today.

Did they say anything about your CSR approval that day, or did you just say you were calling about the CSP?

ETA: Disregard. We posted at the same time :)

How is she losing $100/month? If she charges $150/month, she would only lose the opportunity cost of charging to another card - maybe a 2% card - so $3. She would have to buy product anyway, the only difference is which card she uses to charge. At least thats how I'm understanding her.

shes forced to spend $150 to make 3% on 20k which is around $50 of interest per month. I was more suggesting her putting her money into other 3% accounts that dont require that $10 minimum transaction where she can make smaller transactions on cheap things(ie Amazon reloads or soda), spending her big budget items with a credit card that earns 3% as well.

Will my electric bill code at 5x UR on the CIC?

it does not. They way i found around this is to purchase a vgc when its no fee, then paying the electric bill with it.

When I did a SW double dip in Nov I got an instant on the first and had to call in and shift credit on the second. He asked me if I 'intended' to apply for a second card so I just replied with yeah it was intentional and he moved on quickly to ask what card I wanted to shift credit from. I did screw up a bit by applying late on a Sunday night so I am lucky the first was an instant approval since I had to wait till Monday to call and get the second approved so maybe that's why he noticed it.

I got the same email. I was wondering the same thing about using Amex but it specifically says a Mastercard not just Masterpass? You can be the guinea pig, lol.

Just a few things to keep in mind about using Plastiq on the CIP:
  • Plastiq earns 3x UR on the payments and fees when charged to the CIP, which more than offsets the 2.5% fee. The CIP is the only card that earns this 3x UR bonus on Plastiq. It's been coding this way since last summer, but could change in the future if Plastiq or Visa decide that the merchant category code needs to be changed.
  • Visa's guidelines to Plastiq prohibits mortgage payments through the service on Visa cards (Amex has similar restrictions). If your mortgage is through a small bank or credit union, it may not be blocked. If it is blocked, you'll get an error message on Plastiq when trying to make a mortgage payment, something to the effect that this payment type is not supported, use a different credit card (you can still pay mortgages using MasterCards and Discover). Even if your lender is blocked, many of us have had success creatively addressing the payment to slip through Plastiq's restrictions. Who holds or services your mortgage? Maybe we can help.
  • Student loans and utilities are fine on Plastiq with Visas. Other popular types of payments are contractors, school tuition and daycare.
  • Remember, if you sign up for Plastiq through one of the links on DISchurners, you'll get $500 fee free dollars, which waives the fee on $500 worth of payments after you've made your first $500 in payments. And you'll be showing your appreciation to the wonderful people in this thread.

:thumbsup2 Great idea!
whats is Plastiq ?

I'm just curious as to how you found us and heard about this great and helpful group.

You got great advice from @SouthFayetteFan - Start with the Chase credit cards.

If by SPG spending you mean, did DH's brother and sister each purchase 30k SPG points during the 35% off sale that ends this month and did my brother and nephew also buy 30K SPG points? Why yes, they all did as soon as they moved in with us :rolleyes1

I usually go by my statement and just see what the purchases total and subtract any returns. After the second statement closes I pay much closer attention to where I'm at and where I need to be in terms of MSR.

YAY! So excited and happy that our little group here was able to guide you to a nice chunk of savings towards your trip!

Yes! There's always a fare war when or pricing drops drastically when I can't take advantage of it. This is because I always schedule and plan way in advance. Looking forward to retirement and planning nothing except taking advantage of fare wars some day.
Hi! I think I was on the Disney gift card or swag buck thread and someone mentioned this thread. So I jumped over. And WOW I m am ready to learn.

Ok, who can help me out? If you don't know, I have been having major drama with trying to purchase Disney tickets through the Chase UR department. First agent told me not possible, called back and thought I got great agent who got it done, but they went through something called Funjet and I didn't get any Disney ticket numbers. So finally today she gets back to me and sends me a Disney number but when I put it into DME it says it can't use it because it is a will call ticket. Please tell me there is something that can be done. It told me to link it on Disneyworld.com I am afraid to do anything at this point afraid that I am stuck with will call tickets and no fast passes. Can anyone tell me what to do?? We have not been to Disney in years so all this electronic linking of tickets is new to me anyway and these problems are just freaking me out a little. Or a lot!!!

Did you go to MDE - 'My Disney Experience' and it wouldn't link?

Will we need to set-up a new user account for DH's CIC? He already has the CIP and I was expecting to see the CIC there like I do with the personal accounts where I can see my Disney, CSR, SW Premier, SW Plus and Marriott. I was trying to figure out what his credit limit is and had expected to see it with his CIP.
