I love credit cards so much!

Business cards do impact your credit score in an indirect way since they don’t show up on your personal credit report. Since you’ll be shifting a lot of personal spend onto business cards that don’t report to the credit bureaus, you’re in effect lowering the percentage of credit utilization on the personal cards, which will tend to increase your credit score.

Since the CIC has 0% for a year, I am thinking that we will max that card out with expenses from finishing our basement. We got a Chase HELOC, but haven't drawn anything down yet. If I can put some of that cost onto a card at 0%, it will help me save a bit on interest for a few months. Then I can just use the HELOC to pay off the card before the 0% expires. I guess since it doesn't count towards our personal credit utilization, that is a bonus.

ETA: I also plan to apply for this card in a month or two as well, so that would be two cards which we could put construction expenses on to save some interest.

For you...CIC is probably a great option (if you have it currently you'd need to cancel it before you could apply - I'm not sure which card you downgraded to). Once you apply for any personal card you'll hit 5/24 (which isn't the end of the world if it's the right card :))

@ski_mom there are some alternates to this.
You can do one of the following: 1) cancel the CIC, wait 30 days and apply for the CIC. 2) PC to a CIP and apply a week later. 3) apply for an EIN(with IRS) and use it for the CIC app.

I haven't had a SW cc in two or three years, and I get drink coupons sent to me pretty regularly. I know I got some within the last several months. We tend to fly SW a lot in the Fall, and I think the coupons can be sent as a thank you for a spate of frequent travel. At least based on my experience, it has nothing to do with having the SW cc.

Current IHG card or not! I know I should not get it but I can't help but feel like something is going away that I should jump on. Is it FOMO or is it a real opportunity I might miss. I even got an email this week with the 60K offer (I know not special, special to me since it isn't on the Chase site anymore).

Would you give up a */24 spot for this card? I am 0/24 right now with plans for CSR/CSP double dip and SW at the end of the year. Maybe I'll just keep procrastinating and that will make the decision for me since the offer ends tomorrow. ARGGGGGGH. Can't decide.

DANGIT! Mom just told me her CIP app already went 7-10 days on the phone line. Time to review biz recon stuff and help her through it as best I can just... DANGIT!

It was so fast because she messed up her 5/24 count. Store card she forgot about from a year ago. No reconning around it.

Has anyone ever gotten this message when applying for CIC or CIP:

Thanks for Applying. Please call us as soon as possible at 1-800-243-6010 Mon-Fri 8am to 10pm EST to discuss your application with a Customer Support Specialist. We look forward to speaking with you.

Please reference #XXXXXXXXXXX when you call.

We look forward to speaking with you.

That is what I got when I applied for CIP and DH got the same message today when I applied him for CIC. I mostly see people say they got a 30 day message, so I find it interesting that isn't what we got both times.

I got this exact message when applying for my CIP about a month ago.

I just kept calling the automated line (30 day message) until I was approved. It took about a week IIRC.

sooooooo... bank funding huh?
Ohmygosh. Just.... omg. Reminds me of the story of the person who funded an account with like 20K- and then couldn't get it. This person isn't lying about stuff though. Gah- I wish I could find that old story! That person had lied to the bank saying he intended to move to their state, spun stories about fake company board meetings and other crazy stuff preventing it, had trouble with the bank and had trouble with the credit card company. It was such an epic disaster I should have bookmarked it. If you can't afford to lose the cash for a couple months if it gets tied up in a bank dispute don't do it!

Ok, so I’m planning on CIC app for DH. First Chase Biz app, anything I should know?
No referrals, use last name as business name, sole proprietorship
A brief glance at the app shows a lot more info to fill out than Amex app. Do I have to fill out all fields or can you skip some info with sole proprietorship?

So my ipad is being stubborn and doesn’t want to insert quotes.

@StephPlum only you can decide if IHG worth it. It had not really been on my radar for anytime soon, but once I saw the current version was leaving I decided to get it even though making me 5/24 for a while. Deciding factor for me was that I joined IHG and then did a couple bookings of places we will go to within next year (Moab, West Yellowstone). Once I saw that and the point value that gave me an idea of what the points are worth. When you combine that with the fact I can transfer UR to IHG and also get the room certificate for $49 AF it was an easy decision. If all you can find is the 60k offer just apply and then ask Chase to match it. I did that yesterday and they agreed (see earlier in this thread).

@CyndiLouWho does your DH have a business or a “business.” If it is an actual business I might come up with some name and put that...on my call from the loan department I might have been paranoid but they seemed a little suspicious that my name was the name of the business. (I know all the blogs say that is fine but Chase didn’t seem to love it). DH has an actual business and of course they never asked him about it and automatically approved. You have to fill out the form as best you can. Mine was a “business” and I so do not want to repeat that phone call ever again!

We own 1 rental property that doesn’t actually make a profit. I used “CyndiLouWho’s Rentals” on a Citibank biz cc once. Just don’t want to have a red flag since it’s not actually a registered business name.

I have been on the DisBoards for awhile, but recently started reading some of the pages. I can't keep up there is so much written every day! I have been doing the points game for 5 or 6 years, but only to pay for a few trips a year. We have lots of AmEx cards, but I want to add a few Chase cards. My DH is at 2/24 (both last Oct) and I am at 3/24. I have the CSP (DH is an AU), CSR, CIC (Biz). He doesn't have any, but getting him to make calls isn't the easiest! After reading these comments, I am leaning to getting the CIP and cancelling the CSP. The main reason we kept the CSP was so my DH could have primary insurance when renting cars. The CIP is appealing for the primary insurance and the 3x for college bills, taxes, etc. I also would like to get either the CF or CFU. I am not one to get cards and then cancel a year later. When I sign up, I plan to keep them for a while. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Also, I saw someone mention going through the Chase portal to reserve Disney hotels. They mentioned using the portal to get 1.5 points for the dining plan. How do you add the dining plan? I have reserved several Disney rooms through the portal but didn't realize you could do the dining plan. Thanks!

Hello disneybirds,

I actually booked dining and room through chase's cruise and tour department. What chase will do while you are on the phone with them is they will call Disney and book what you see on Disney's site. Chase's cruise and tour department is basically a travel agent and can book almost anything you want. Some people have spoke to Melissa or leon x8179 both were very helpful. The cruise and tour department is 855-234-2542. just don't forget to ask for that department.

good luck hope this helps!!
