I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Wish our high school let you pay for AP tests with a credit card. 3 tests at $90 a piece. At least I was able to pay for the dual enrollment classes with a credit card.
DS school takes cc for everything. Cafe, vending, football tix, books, exams, etc. Dual enrollment go to his school account so cc work and I can use PayPal if there's a bonus category somewhere.
I was there last week and tried to use my Visa gift cards, and other credit cards. I really didn't spend much other than 3 jackets (grandkids) and a hoodie and I had the annual pass 20% so barely hit $250 on those. No sit downs as I was eating at food & Wine mostly, plus coffee/biscotti for breakfast in my room. Last week most rides were a walkon or 15- 20 minutes for my stuff. Haven't seen it so dead in ages.
So jealous. Wish we could go. I miss F&W but I think this year/next year are no travel for us except some college trips.

The Experian security freeze section is "temporarily" down. It has been since yesterday. So, I can not unfreeze credit in order to apply for a new card.

I was planning to apply for a "pre-approved Amex Biz Platinum" through an email link we got.

I had read that Amex does a soft pull if you have cards with them already? What does that even mean? Lol. No need to unfreeze? I was going to unfreeze jic because I didn't want to deal with any possible follow-ups because of the credit freeze.

Any DPs for applying for secondary AMEX with the freeze still on? The other 2 credit bureaus are unfrozen, just Experian is not.

I need the new card for property taxes due no later than 11/30/2025, and to pay for flights I want to book ASAP.

Applying for new cards is already soooooo nerve racking. I didn't need this obstacle when I finally worked myself up to finally pull the trigger and apply. :faint:

TIA.

Credit is locked with all 3 bureaus. Have Amex cards already so I did not unlock credit and just applied 2 days ago and was approved for an Amex Platinum. This is a huge part of why I chose Amex this time around, much less hassle to apply for than any other bank.

I only unfroze my credit for my first amex card, never for the rest.

Update: Was approved for the Amex Biz Platinum - 200kSUB/$20kMSR/3months through pre-approval email link.

Tried for an Amex Platinum first and Amex only offered 50k SUB! Booo!!! There was a link on the website offering 100k to upgrade the AmexGold but we want to keep the Gold...
Keep an eye out for the personal platinum. We just got a 175k offer for personal.

Congrats. I love my Biz Platinum!

Hi everyone! It's been a minute since I've checked in here. A couple years back I decided to give up churning and just focus on earning and burning points using a couple CCs as daily drivers, so I've been out of the loop on credit card news for a while.

I'm taking a whirlwind trip to see Epic Universe in January. I'm trying to keep cash outlay on this trip as low as possible and have enough points to cover my one-day park ticket. Of course it says in the Chase Travel portal in big scary red text that they are non-refundable and no changes are allowed, so I'm hesitating to purchase. If something comes up and I can't make the trip, am I just SOL? I know I can't get a refund, but does anyone know if Universal would accept the credit for the ticket and apply it to a future trip?

I have purchased Universal tickets through the portal before but that was when I was younger and less risk-averse 😂

We’re currently in Asia, but following the flight cancellation news. We return on Nov 13, flying from HND to SFO, and then need to fly back to CLT. From my understanding, international flights won’t be affected, but I’m nervous we may get stranded in San Francisco! Amazingly enough, we had no delays or cancellations from CLT to JFK, then JFK to SIN when we left on Nov 1.

I think I heard long haul flights shouldn't be affected so if you're going SIN to JFK, that should be okay. But who the heck knows. Would be really great if they could figure this out, like tomorrow!

Hi travel brain trust - anyone else traveling next week and concerned about flight cancellations? If so, what are you doing about it?
Late chime in with on the ground experience flying home from the Dream yesterday. The flight cancellations were really rough; our cruise group chat was blowing up with people being delayed 6+ hours only to get cancelled, people getting cancelled midway through a connection, people giving up and driving up to NJ from FLL. We were lucky and made it home on our scheduled flight, but it seemed like we were the exception.

Hopefully this ends the shutdown soon but, in the meantime, I'd be very hesitant to get on a connecting flight because you could very well find yourself stuck at the connecting location if your next leg gets cancelled in the air.

NYT reported this morning that United’s president stated they would not cancel flights from hub to hub but would reduce regional flights. We are scheduled to fly from Harrisburg, PA next week to LAX, connecting through ORD. Would we be crazy to cancel this ASAP and rebook with a flight leaving from Philly?

I’m afraid if I do that, and our Harrisburg flight isn’t cancelled, we’ll be adding a lot of time onto our trip for nothing; but if I do nothing and then the flight gets cancelled, I’m concerned I won’t be able to get a flight leaving from Philly if everyone else is also trying to rebook.

We are heading out to LAX for Disneyland and my kids have been looking forward to it for months (as am I) - trying to keep it in perspective that there are people who haven’t had paychecks for a month and this in comparison is frivolous!
We are flying to Disneyland on Saturday. SW MCO to Long Beach with a layover in Las Vegas. So far I have just been sticking my head in the sand and hoping everything is resolved this week. Not a good plan I suppose.

Yikes! Maybe I need to make some backup plans for Disneyland next weekend!

Update on P2's Biz Plat. I chatted to PC to the Biz Gold. They were giving a hard sell on keeping the Plat. Did offer a retention of 40k MR for $10k spend. I declined because I have too many MSRs I am working on to do 10k right now.

It's only a 4 hour drive from Vegas so, if you do get there and then find out your LGB leg is canceled, you can at least drive the rest of the way.

Our cruise group may have been heavily impacted, too, because it was Jersey Week and the airports we were using (FLL to BWI, PHL, EWR, JFK) were all on the list of the 40 that were told to start cancelling. Probably twice as likely to have an issue if both your departure and arrival airports are on the hot list.

I just booked a direct AA flight to LAX with miles, not my ideal use, but I haven't flown AA yet and the miles have just been sitting there. Unfortunately MCO and LAS are on the list so that's no fun!

I got back from Disney World on Thursday. I gave my credit card information during the online check-in process so that I could go straight to the room when it was ready.

I paid for the room with my DVC points, and did not charge anything to the room.

When I look online on my credit card website, it shows a $100 credit from Disney Resorts, posted the day after I checked out of the hotel

What's up with that? I'm not entitled to a credit. I can understand that they might have had a hold on my credit card, in case I charged to the room. But there was no actual $100 charge to match up with the credit.

Can anyone explain? Will this credit just drop off in a few days?
