I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Zurich —> Lake Como (continued)

Swiss Air flight was amazing! Seat was very comfortable, flight attendants were nice and the food was okay (my chicken main course was dry, but I wasn’t terribly hungry, so it was okay). Pajamas were soft and we were given the choice of long or short-sleeve (I choose short). Amenity kit had Sisley products. Bonus: I slept for 5 hours!

Hyatt Place the Circle was easy to find; my room was upgraded from no view to park view, which was nice. I was given my room key on arrival and slept for 2 hours before showering and heading into Zurich for the day. First stop was the national bank to change some ‘recalled’ francs that I had from several years ago (no issue, short wait and I was given crisp new bills). Wandered from there to Lake Zurich, had a delicious lunch (quiche) at a local bakery, then wandered between Old Town and the Bahnostrasse for the rest of the day. Dinner was interesting: an almost empty restaurant that I had researched ahead of time had no available tables (??), another restaurant the kitchen didn’t open until 7, so I headed to the train station and ate at a nice restaurant called Brasserie Sud. Food was delicious, but expensive (soup, salad, water and bread came to US$60.00). Took the train back to the airport and walked back to the Hyatt (maybe 5 min walk). There was an issue in my room that I didn’t discover until I wanted to go to sleep — the (very) bright light in my bathroom wouldn’t turn off. Called the front desk and strangely they wanted to come to my room (not sure why — maybe they thought I couldn’t work a light switch?); anyways had to sleep with the light in the bathroom on, which those that are of “that age” know, sometimes one must rise in the night to use the WC, so not an optimal situation. Best I could do was hang my eye mask over the door to the WC, which I put on before entering so I wasn’t blasted with a bright light in the middle of the night. The FD told me this morning this light is supposed to be on a 15 minute timer, which was obv not working in my room. The hotel is refunding points for 1 night and offered free breakfast, so all good. I’d def stay there again, I’d just test the timer in the WC before unpacking and settling in LOL. When comparing the rates for the Hyatt Place versus a hotel in city centre, it’s a no brainer (for me) to stay at the airport. It takes a few mins to walk to the airport to catch a 10 minute train that takes you right to the centre of the city. Super easy. A transport ticket for the day was US$8.50, which included trams in the city centre and transit to and from the airport.

Same! I just applied and got the "under review". I downgraded on Tuesday - from some dps on Reddit it seemed like after 48 hours the CSP would no longer show in your account.

Quoting myself to update on my CSP application from yesterday. I checked my notices and letters this morning and saw the same letter I got when I applied for my last Ink card, suspected fraud, blah blah. I called the number and when prompted if I applied I pressed 1 for yes and got a reply that my application was under review, I'd be notified in 7-10 business days. Did not talk to a live person. If I do not have an update by Monday, I will call and talk to a person. Realllllyyyy hoping I don't have to go into a branch like I did for the Ink. What is going on Chase???

I don't currently have either of these cards, but thinking about getting one (if this comes to pass) for exactly this purpose!
If you are comfortably under 5/24 and there's a good bonus and you qualify based on the absurd Bonvoy rules if you have/have had x card within x amount of time then that, I'd get the card. After a year, upgrade it. I downgraded the Brilliant card in favor of keeping this one.

Good to know. We are heading to Zurich next month on what started as plans to visit Lake Como and then turned into explore a few places for a couple nights each in Switzerland. Interesting about the restaurant situation. We have Lake Como as a backup trip in September in case the primary trip falls through. Really looking forward to your TR on the Grand Hotel Victoria since that is what I have booked. If we don't do it in September then definitely next year. Great pics!!!

I worry about missing the cruise due to flight delays. I think the CSP would only cover it if the delay is due to severe weather or strike. Some of the comprehensive insurance cover other circumstances and some will pay to get you to your next port. Whether I'd pay more would depend on when I'm arriving before the cruise, backup flight options, and how much it might cost to catch up at the next port.

Good points, and thanks for the suggestions.
We are flying to Fairbanks, arriving late on the 10th.
Sightseeing on our own on the 11th
Begin land portion of trip (to Denali) on morning of 12th.
Cruise begins evening of 13th

It is certainly not easy to get from St. Louis to Fairbanks, but it would have to be a major delay for us to miss the ship.
But you've given me some more to think about.

is this swiss air first or bc? how many points was it might be worth booking alone for a new product trying to plan a ski trip shouldering zurich not sure yet just in the thought process.

I booked a rental car through Klook and paid using my CSP. Do I get the car insurance coverage, even though I went through a 3rd party for the booking?

I need to renew three pre checks. It appears the Venture offers credit for that. We have two Ventures. Which other cards offer a credit?

DW has been dealing with this. Got a letter and she called and had to upload drivers license and utility bill. A couple of weeks later, she received the exact same letter from fraud prevention. She called again and they said they had the information they need and we should hear something in the next couple of weeks. Very frustrating.

And she only has 2 open business cards.

I'm having a similar experience with Chase Disney. I don't actually need more credit. I was just trying to get the bonus for a DVC purchase. The letter to me in my Chase account is dated April 28th. It says I need to call. I call every few days and the message is always the same. Something to the effect of, "We're still evaluating your application. You'll receive a letter in the mail in the next 7-10 days." Well, it's beyond 10 days at this point. I am not sure if I will continue to pursue it or not.

Almost the exact same scenario for DH / P2. It’s been over 30 days (end of March) so I guess we have to call it dead at this point. He did get a notice that they increased the CL on his regular (no fee) Disney Visa, but that’s not what he applied for… Kinda disappointed to use up one of our 5/24 slots for it but what else to do?

Ironically his CSP app this week was an instant approval. Waited almost as long as possible to allow enough time between apps for that to not be a flag 🙃
